An enjoyable read, although I will say the FMC overcomes her grief a bit quickly, but then it’s a romantic read and I know it’s a plot device, just felt strange but overall an enjoyable read

The holiday season is meant to be filled with wonder and all things great and good. Bridget knows that wishes are not enough to keep her small family safe but surely her faith in the magic of Christmas will bring them to a better place. With a little romance thrown into Bridget's miracles, you'll share in her angel's blessings.

This is such a sweet read perfect for the winter weather! I really enjoyed all of the characters and their little community, everything just felt so cosy.

A basic read in all honesty. The characters are likeable, and I liked the little family, but there’s nothing particularly exciting about the plot. It’s a story centred around family and community, and so I guess it’s nice that it’s positive, but there isn’t a lot to make you feel that you want to read more chapter.

This book just has Christmas written all over it. I can’t think of a thing I didn’t enjoy about the book. From the books charming cover to it descriptions of Christmas baking, the wintery scenery to meeting the neighbors with the possibility of a new romance I was there for it and enjoying it all. The past year has been so hard for Bridget and her children, they are grieving the loss of their husband/father and money is running so low.

With her mother’s encouragement she moves her family back to her happy place, Mulberry-On-Sea . Its full of happy memories and peaceful times. Bridget is more than a fair baker and so why not, she’ll open a shop selling her scrumptious breads and mince pies along with the best of holiday treats. To advertise she takes her baked goods on her bicycle and gives them away to neighbors as samples.

The people are so happy to see her. I really loved the idea of this because she visited shut ins and other lonely people who needed someone especially around the holidays. Smart move on her part as business is now booming. Her children are happily enjoying their new Christmas toys and settling in. Santa just may just be filling her stocking with a chance at love this Christmas season. Such a heartwarming story, the perfect pick me up. I was given a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.

Bridget and her children are having to cope with bereavement, a house move and poverty - none of which seem to offer the promise of the cheer I like to experience in a novel read in the run up to Christmas - and yet somehow Alex Brown manages to tackle these crises with sensitively and realism. This novel is ultimately one of finding happiness and joy in the smallest of things and accepting that things that seem impossible, usually aren't.

Lovely feel good book to read. It was a joy to read. Lovely characters. Great plot. The book was charming. Very well written. I’d definitely recommend this book. Idyllic location that set the tone of the book to perfection. Perfect seasonal book to get you in the mood for the festive season.

Bridget takes her family to live in a beach house and finding a way to make a living sees an array of breads and cakes being baked . Making you sure you can smell them and wishing you were there to buy them straight from the oven. She finds a way to help the village when access becomes a problem and you are willing her on. A lovely book about family, relationships and a real sense of community pulling together provides a wonderfully evocative Christmas read.

The first book in the Carrington’s Bicycle Bakery series. After her husband Ted’s sudden death Bridget and her children Oscar, Olly and Freya move to Mulberry-On-Sea to start over. I found the story to be well written and held my interest until the end. This is a new Author to me and I want to read more by her. I received a copy of this book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This has been a while since I have read my last book by Alex Brown so I was really happy to read her last book! This book is a really cozy and fun one! I have really enjoyed my read! I have to be honest, it's not the best book by Alex Brown in my opinion. If you want to enjoy this book you need to forget about the first books in the Carrington's series because otherwise you will be disappointed. The atmosphere in this book has nothing to do with the first books in this series. But it's still very good and very well written! I have given a 4 stars for this book!! It's a lovely one!

It was supposed to be a Christmas book. A story revolving around Christmas as the title suggested but Christmas happened after 70% of the book was already done.

I had to skim in many places because the descriptions were getting too much.

It was an okayish read.

A lovely heart warming read that’s not just for Christmas!! Lovely to be back in Mulberry-on-Sea with old characters and the new characters. I felt quite sad to leave the idyllic beach house and hope for more Carrington family adventures. If Sinead could feature too more the better! A light hearted read about picking up, restarting and moving on. Truly refreshing.

Thank you Netgalley

After her husband dies, Bridget finds herself and her children homeless so moves back to Mulberry-on-Sea to live in her in-laws holiday cottage. In order to earn some money she finds herself baking bread and mince pies for the local community. A heart warming tale of family and community spirit.

Thank you to One More Chapter and Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Newly widowed mother of three, has no option but to sell their family home. Without money or many savings she decides to move the family back to her home town for a fresh start. Her in-laws have a beach house that they offer her the use of. Even thought it needs some work, left without much of a choice Bridget, the children and their dog Henry move in just before Christmas.

Mulberry on Sea sounds like such a beautiful and tranquil place. As soon as the family step foot into the beach house Bridget hopes she has made the right decision. She starts to feels like it is the right fresh start for them, as the children delight in the new adventure with sledging and snowball fights right on the beach. And Bridget starts making friends, and manages to make a living for herself by delivering her delicious sourdough bread to the locals.

This is a lovely book which I read in one sitting, about how to carry on after bereavement and never giving up hope of a second chance. Filled with lots of heartache but also lots of friendship, love and humour. It took me on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. I also loved the Christmas backdrop it added lots of charm. Whilst we read about Bridget busily cooking in the kitchen making bread and mince pies on the old Aga, with the fire crackling whilst waves crash outside. It all sounds perfect!

I will definitely be looking out for this author in the future. It is the first book of hers I have read but it won't be the last.
