This is a "Christmasy" book!!!
It would have been 5 stars but the first chapter was hard to get into. It was unnecessary, too descriptive. Every other word was just too much for my liking. That's why it will be 4.5 stars from me.

My thoughts:
Finally a good Christmas themed book. Despite the first chapter the rest of the book was amazing. When I was reading it I felt like it's Christmas time already. The snow, the moment of grief, the family relationships, the freshly baked goods and of course Hot Jack! It's a perfectly balanced romance book.

Brief synopsis:
All you need to know: the main point is dealing with grief and how to live your life after losing someone you really love and not feeling guilty/bad about it. But there is a cute romance aspect as well. Timeline is shortly before Christmas and you can definitely feel the vibe of it. And you can't imagine Christmas time without freshly baked sourdough bread, mince pies etc.

If you are looking for a Christmas book, pick this one up!

This was such a beautifully crafted festive story. Bridget will grab your heart for sure. I love the way that Alex Brown makes her characters seem like friends rather than people on the page.

This really is a cosy Christmas read. Bridgets husband died suddenly leaving her and her two teenage boys and her 6 year old daughter adrift. With finances so bad, they can no longer afford to live in their family home, so find themselves relocating to a beach house in Mulberry-on-sea, the place Bridget & her late husband grew up..Can they rebuild their lives? Can Bridgets dream of becoming a baker really happen? And will she ever be ready to love again? A lovely story with some rather lovely characters.

An enjoyable, cosy perfect read to get ready for Christmas.
Bridget unexpectedly finds herself homeless a few weeks before Christmas, and with the loss of her husband a year previous things are at rock bottom.
A move to an old holiday home in her hometown brings a fresh start both for her and the children and can she and the family rebuild their broken lives and move on.? Lovable, warm, funny characters and plenty of HO HO HO!
I really enjoyed reading this and can recommend it to others, you wont be disappointed.
I was unaware that the author has written other books set around mulberry on sea and Carringtons, I shall have to read.

I adored this book! It was an easy, uplifting, light – hearted read where nothing, absolutely nothing, went wrong. OK, our main character Bridget and her children didn’t have it easy, but as soon as they arrive in Mulberry – On – Sea, everything is plain sailing. I would normally be probably appalled by this fact, but in this book it gave it such a warm feeling and actually I didn’t want that something happens. I wanted it to happily and joyously drift towards a happy end, with all the characters falling in love and finding their happiness. I don’t like to think it was all a bit too rushed and unrealistic, I’d rather say there was a bit of magic instead, making all fall easily into pieces – it truly felt like stepping into a fairytale where nothing can go wrong and everything can be fixed by a fresh loaf of bread or hot chocolate or something to eat. There was so much positivity in this story BUT – how the author has achieved it, no idea – it doesn’t feel too cheesy or to meh, it simply feels good.

This book was already full of Christmas spirit and festive atmosphere. I’ve been reading it for the last two days, in a beautiful sunny October, but the author has easily transported me into her fictional, snowy world.

“A Cosy Christmas at Bridget’s Bicycle Bakery” is just this – a cosy, wonderful and cheerful read, a great piece of escapism, set in a beautiful place, with gorgeous and vivid descriptions and some brilliantly sounding recipes at the end. A lovely story about new beginnings, friendship, understanding and kindness, peppered with humour. Yes, some may say the book lacked in substance and plot, too gushy and sentimental and I’d absolutely agree with it, but somehow the author has managed to pull it off – so if you are in need of a light – hearted, cosy and unproblematic read – and this is a huge complement – look no further. I’d read this book again and again and I’m excited there is another story about Bridget coming our way.

A wonderful, heartwarming story to get you in the mood for Christmas.
Grab a hot drink, snuggle up on the sofa and lose yourself for a few hours in this delightful feel good story.
Highly recommended.

A Cosy Christmas at Bridget’s bicycle bakery by Alex Brown a festive five-star read. This was number four in the Carrington’s series which I didn’t realise when I first started this, I will go back and read them all as this sounds like a delightful series. I really enjoyed how the characters weren’t rushed to conclusion, they developed naturally, and followed the flow of the story, it was nicely done. The scenes set in this story were sublime, you could imagine yourself by the sea enjoying a festive hot drink and feeling the sea breeze on your face.

I really enjoyed this book, it had so many feelings flowing through from start to finish.

Bridget has picked her three kids up and moved them to the small beach town she grew up in, the twin boys are not happy about the move but understand why it had to happen, her six year old daughter is looking forward to a new adventure.

Bridget loves to bake, and after dropping off a gift of baked good to the landlady of the local pub, and handing out a few loaves of spare bread, the orders come flooding in. She is in her element, but the chef at the pub has seen more of her than she would have liked and laughed at her more than once. The problem, there is a strong attraction between the two.

Can Bridget and Jack find a way forward or will past heartache keep them apart.

I didn't realise that this was already the 4th book in a series, and I didn't read the others. But I didn't feel like I was missing out by not reading the other books first. However, this was not the book for me. I wanted to love it so much, as the synopsis sounded right up my alley and I do absolutely LOVE the cover! But I couldn't really connect to the story or any of the characters, and the writing felt very rushed. I like fast paced books, but this felt too rushed. Because it felt so rushed, I found the connection and chemistry between our main characters, Bridget and Jack, a bit unbelievable. It's a shame, because this story had so much potential. Unfortunately it's a 2-star read for me.

Lovely festive feel good book! The storyline and characters are so relatable! Sit back with a cup of hot chocolate and relax with this beautiful story.

Gosh this was a fun read. I loved the twins and their maturity. Any books that have baking at their heart has me. Bread can solve anything.. Freya take on her father ‘s death and where he was was perfectly written .Bridget was a lovely main character with an amazing mad mother. Loved the beach house. Glad she gave Jack a chance . A real feel good read.

I received an advance copy of, A Cosy Christmas at Bridget's Bicycle Bakery, by Alex Brown. This is a great heartwarming Christmas story. Bridget is starting over in a new town with her kids, she meets old and new friends.

A sweet story of grief and beginning to come out on the other side. I enjoyed the characters and story. It is a mix of cute seaside townsfolk and romance as well. A pleasant read.

I haven’t read the previous books in the Carrington’s series, but Alex Brown is a favourite author, so I decided to read this one, and go back and catch up on Carrington’s later.

I loved the seaside location of Mulberry-On-Sea, and the beach house. I really liked the sense of community, and the friendships (old and new) that Bridget starts building. The whole book feels lovely and Christmassy too.

I really enjoyed the story, it felt like Bridget, and her children, were finding their feet again. I liked that there were lots of dogs, and the Bicycle Bakery concept was great.

I also enjoyed the beginnings of a romance. It was necessarily quite tentative, but lovely nonetheless.

You definitely don’t need to have read the previous Carrington’s books to enjoy this one. Though complete in itself, this feels like the first volume of a longer story, so I hope that we’ll get to see lots more of Bridget and her friends in A Summer Holiday at Bridget’s Bicycle Bakery.

Overall, this was a lovely, gentle story of new beginnings. Of family, friends, and romance.

When Bridget's husband died of a heart problem unexpectedly she was left to bring up her teenage twin boys Oscar and Oliver and her 6 year old daughter alone then things went from bad to worse when her landlord decided to sell their home. Her in laws had recently moved to Australia and let them have their beach house in Mulberry which was empty although in need of some tlc. Bridget has to start putting everyone's life back together while she finds work and money for her family.
This is a great read filled with the feel good factor and Christmas spirit that leaves a warm glow at the finish .Light hearted and funny in parts.

This was a nice read but seemed a bit rushed to introduce everyone and progress the story. Bridget and Jack certainly seemed rushed to me, and not very romantic. I found the bread storyline a bit unbelievable, surely someone else in town can bake bread and rolls. It’s not hard.

This is my first Alex Brown book and she does such a good job talking about grief, loss and starting over. Not only that, it is set in the beautiful Mulberry-On-Sea, during the Christmas season. She paints the portrait of a quaint seaside town perfectly, so much so, that I could picture myself there, enjoying the winter.

Bridget was a well developed character, who, although, in her own grief over the loss of her husband suddenly a year ago, is trying to keep it together for her children and figure out how to make ends meet. Not only is Bridget a great character, the other people in the book are so true and genuine. Jack, the love interest, is a sweet guy, who is gentle and patient with Bridget. Even more, he has no expectation that Bridget be "over" her husband, but rather hold him in her heart and embrace new chances.

I enjoyed this novel, but found it predictable at times. I am excited to check out more books by Alex Brown! I received a copy of this from NetGalley and the publisher for an open and honest review. All opinions are 100% mine.

If you’re looking for a book filled with love; a novel about family, friends and new beginnings with the added bonus of Christmas then this book is for you. As soon as I started it I knew I was on to a winner with this and devoured every single page. It’s written with such warmth and with some fantastic characters. You are instantly transported to Mulberry-on-Sea experiencing the sights and sounds and can almost smell the freshly baked bread.
