Thanks to the publisher for providing an eARC of Livewire in exchange for an honest review.

So maybe I should have known more about Livewire before getting into this, but considering it's a compilation of the first 3 volumes, I figured no background information on the character or world would be needed before getting into this. While you can definitely still understand what's happening, a lot of this (basically all of volume 1 and at least most of volume 2) seem very, very dependent on you already caring about Livewire so spend their time throwing her into dangerous situation after dangerous situation which could be impactful if you were already a fan of the character but if you're not, the lack of in-comic character development before that makes it hard to get invested in anything that's happening.

I got an ARC of this book.

I wanted to love it, but I am not the audience for it. I really don't like super heroes so I felt like I had to force myself to keep reading even though I loved the cover. The plot was complex and interesting, but it wasn't enough for me. It felt like I was dropped at the middle to the end of a story and told to catch up.

So I know this book will appeal to some, but I really just didn't enjoy myself. The art was amazing though.

Livewire was a quick and fun read. It was a character driven book with a strong character as main. At times I was confused but that is on me because I didn't know you had to read a previous book by the author. I loved the art too

I had trouble reading it, i liked the premise but the execution wasn’t there for me, it was either slow or really fast.
I do like Livewire , she was an interesting character. The art was throwing me off, it looked over saturated and wasn’t easy to read

The story itself speaks so much about what has been happening lately in some parts of the world. It is about our main character, Liverwire, who went rogue and turned against the government she once served. This snowballed into her turning against her former allies, for she chose to secure the welfare of the few over the majority of the population by turning the whole nation into a total power blackout.

Liverwire is a balance of character-driven and plot-driven stories where the character was so empowered and is in control of her own fate. She was well developed and her choices in the story were all consistent with how well she developed from the start. This deluxe edition graphic novel is fast-paced and full of entertainment. The special abilities of the characters were not original, something we have seen before, but it was well executed that it all tied the story well all together.

The thing I didn't like about the piece was the side characters. They fell flat for me. I wish that they were developed more or flesh out more so that they could have added something grander in the story. Their relationships towards the main character were okay, but nothing really stood out and left memorable. Another minor thing that turned me off was how the story started in the beginning. It was so fast and we didn't get a chance to brace ourselves first of what to expect. It really went full force that I caught myself really overwhelmed after reading the first 50 pages. It got better eventually though. The very aggressive start just made sense as I progress in reading the story.

Overall, I love it and I would highly recommend this to all those that are looking for a fast-paced graphic novel that delivers relevant and timely socio-political themes.

There are some who will do whatever it takes to save their family. There are others who will do whatever it takes to be number one. This is a continuation of a series. Can be read as a standalone but you'll be missing context.

Love the diversity and art within the graphic novel. The story is solid and fits in with current events. Hope there will be more added to the story.

3 stars

I should have known I had to read something else before diving into this because I was lost in the beginning and had to go back and asked around friends about what was going on before continuing this book.
I have to say, the art style was interesting and beautiful but the plot... was a but messy and sometimes hard to follow.
I did like the character's arc though even if the story didn't fully convinced me.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for the chance to read this in exchange for an honest review

I knew nothing about Livewire before I read this book, so when I first started reading this book I felt a little lost as it just jumps straight into the story after a huge event happened. Amanda McKee aka Livewire is a psiot with technopathic abilities. Before this book, she used her powers to turn off the power in the entire United States to protect her family of psiot kids. This caused untold destruction and loss of life. As a result, she is now on the most wanted list and on the run from the government she used to protect. She is also actively working to protect other psiots and to change views about psiots in general.
