I could never download this book. That’s sad. I believe there was a problem with the platform, so I don’t blame the author or the publisher.
Since I’ve never read it, I can’t give my opinion. That’s why I’m choosing a neutral rating.

One of the worst things to me is when a good graphic novel with good art just completely falls apart in the last chapter. Sadly, that is the case in this one, that has an ending that leaves the reader scratching their heads and wondering what the heck that ending was about.

A wild hunt set in space!

A special thank you to Netgalley and Diamond book distributors for giving me a digital arc in exchange for a honest review.

Becstar is a former member of a mercenary group. Putting her past away, she spents most of her times gambling along with her friend Sally. But that past comes to hunt her when a mysterious girl appears with an urgent request and a former member of her mercenary group begun to hunt her.

First of all, I love the idea of a wild goose chase on space but I never really get the full plot of the story. I often get confuse on certain situations like the plot is going nowhere.

The characters were ok but on some point I don't really vibe with them.

Love the art style of it though!

Overall, I gave it a 3 star rating because of how confusing the plot of the story.

I only really got to read about half of this since I've been busy, and then Adobe Digital Editions started just refusing to open any of my eARCs even though the archive date hadn't passed and I tried redownloading it.

From what I did read tho, I can say that I absolutely love the artstyle! It looks so pretty, and I love the colours chosen here! I also really liked the individual characters, and I wish I could know how it ended here for them! I also felt like the story felt familiar but also somewhat original, even tho I felt like the storyline was a bit confusing. I just wished we got MORE here! More flashbacks, more background on the characters and more on the general settings. Idk if that's just me tho!

Would recommend it! (Will only give it 3 stars since idk how it ended)

Becstar is a star hopping mercenary-gone-full time-gambler light years away from Earth. Leaving her old life behind with the help of her magical luck dagger and her fan-turned-regret filled-friend Sally Soolin, Becstar ekes out a living under the nefarious Shadow Syndicate's radar. But when a mysterious girl appears with grim news and an urgent quest where the fate of the universe hangs in the balance, Becstar has no choice but to join... and regret it immediately.

The storyline isn't very interesting. There is a mix up of the past and the present which was shown well.
The art style was cool. The colour palette was very interesting.

Other than that I couldn't find anything else to appreciate. The plot was okay. The characters were kinda flat.

Overall, an okay graphic novel.

Color and art is great, story was a bit short but I really enjoyed it.

I can't get over the cover, it jumps out at you and demands to be read.

It's shorter than expected and I felt the characters lacked development and depth.
However, it's entertaining and quick to read. The art is really good and the colour palette iss incredible!
The plot is quite interesting although it's familiar at some points, there are similarities to other stories I've read here and there.
Altogether I recommend Becstar, though I wish I knew more about the characters' backstory!

2.5 ⭐

To begin with, the art in this graphic novel was stunning. It added to the story, i liked the way it presented the past and present and I really enjoyed it.

I wish I could say the same for the actual plot though :/

The world building, the characters and the relationships were really confusing, to say the least. None of the characters were particularly interesting, they felt falt and kind of shallow. The world building was undevelopped, I couldn't understand anything for a big part of the book and that's why it took me so long to finish it.

This could have easily been volume 2. I wish we got to know more about our main character Becstar and her origins. I just felt like I started reading a story that had already begun.

I didn't feel any connection to the characters. Perhaps the character I liked the most was Sally, Becstar's best friend, because she was such a great friend and always there for the others!

This is my short review for Becstar :)
I wouldn't recommend the book, but that is just my personal opinion and anyone is allowed to like it. This is not meant to offend anyone. Others may find it interesting but for me a lot of parts needed more explanation.

Becstar is a mercenary/gambler with her lucky dagger and her friend Sally trying to travel through space and avoid the Shadow Syndicate. Becstar is a fast paced and quick read with enjoyable characters and some great artwork.

Thank to Netgaly I had the chance to read Becstar before it comes out and I like it. The drawing is not the style is like but I think it works really well with the story, the universe is for me a mixes between Star Wars, Voltron, She-Ra, and a little bit of Aurora Rising.
I spend a great time reading it, the story was original, the characters were all different but match very well together and I did not expect that ending and that a good thing. I really love Becstar she thought and at the same time caring for the people it's the perfect combination for a hero.
I really like Becstar to get a second comic, I need to know what happens to some characters and I need to need more about the artifact.

This novel was very quick, and engaging. I’d begin with thanking the illustrator for their incredible work, any page of this book could be framed and hanged like a masterpiece. However, I didn’t enjoy the pacing of the book, it felt rather quick, and at times slow, I had a hard time connecting with the characters, and plot line because of it.

I’m very thankful for the opportunity to read and review this book, and I wish you all the best.

I had fun reading it but it’s very brief and things move very fast. If you like science fiction and action comics this is a very quick read and is entertaining. I think it took me about 20 minutes to blow through the whole book though so don’t go looking for anything in depth here. I’d read a volume two though to see where the story goes next quite happily

I must say that the story left me a lot to be desired, the premise was quite interesting and the art it has I can't deny it, it's one of the prettiest I've seen, but I feel like I was pulled into a story that had already begun; I would have liked to have been told a little more about Becstar's origin, I think the story we are presented with would have worked much better in a second volume.

Mercenary and gambler Becstar and her friend Sally travel the cosmos evading the Shadow Syndicate. When a mysterious girl shows up needing their help, Becstar can’t refuse. So begins a quest to help the girl and save the day.

This comic collection was fun. The art was cool, and the story moved lightning fast. I went through all the issues in maybe a half hour. It’s an action-packed, fast-paced adventure that focuses on kickass ladies, one trying to do right by her beloved father, one who is a fan turned reluctant side kick, and one running from a past and desperate for redemption.

This one’s out on November 30th, just in time for the holiday season, and if you like cool girls in comics with some possible, subtle queerness, check it out.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing an eARC.

I liked the art, you can tell that the artist really spend a lot of time on it, and the way past events are drawn is really good.
I was excited to dive in and discover this world, however I was disappointed : I would have liked more world building, context, and character developpment. I found the plot to be confusing at some points,

I received this as an eARC to read for free in exchange for my honest review. Thank you to NetGalley and Simon and Mad Cave Studios for giving me access.

The art was stunning while the story wasn't up to par. We were thrusted into what felt like the middle of a storyline. I wouldn't have minded finding out more of what happened in the past for Vol. 1 and then this story being Vol. 2 or even 3. The flashbacks wasn't enough and left me confused at times.

Unfortunately this one let me down, it majorly lacked world building and character building. Because of that I didn't fully get into this, I never felt like I got to know the characters and understand their motives. In saying that, it has some really great female lead representation - I always love the idea of a female lead team / gang.

The art style in this was very unique and was definitely my favourite part, but it didn't save the story in the end.

I thought the art in this book was absolutely gorgeous! But for me, the story didn't really come together. The writing was a little off, some parts were slow, and then I turn the next page and I have no idea what's going on. I just found the story hard to follow. I do think the character were a little boring, but I did what to know what happened to them next!
