When we finished reading this book for the first time, my 6 year old looked at me and said "I want to be like Michelle Obama." That's a win for me! Little People Big Dreams always tells the story of interesting people in an engaging way. This is another family favorite for us!

The publisher made a copy of this book available for review via Netgalley, This is my honest review.

I received an electronic ARC from Quarto Publishing Group – Frances Lincoln Children's Books through NetGalley.
Sanchez Vegara continues to provide quality biographies for mid-elementary level readers. In this volume, she brings Michelle Obama to life from her childhood through the White House years. I appreciate the emphasis on how strong she is as a woman and how much she believes in herself. The text and illustrations mesh together, and the timeline and resources included at the end offer readers the chance to learn more.

The art in this entry into the series was great! But this very much just felt like the author read Becoming and summarized it down for a picture book which...is probably what she did.

How exciting to be providing feedback for the upcoming release of a Little People, Big Dreams book!

The Michelle Obama edition was of real interest to me, although I'am aware she has achieved many selfless deeds in her life, I was keen to find out more about her life and what makes her the inspiration she is today.
I also felt my 8 year old daughter would love this book, having fallen in love with the David Bowie edition, I just couldn't wait to see how this compared.

In usual Little People, Big Dreams style the illustrations are beautiful, bold and colourful. They aid the story well and keep young readers visually engaged.

I loved the focus on Michelle Obama working hard and being dedicated to learning at a young age and find this could be inspiring to young readers.

Reading about Michelle dedicating her spare time in college to volunteer and became an advocate for minority students is something I feel to be a great learning tool for inclusivity and diversity within this book.
It's so important to me that young readers have representation in books and are given the ability to see and learn how to promote equality and kindness to others, I feel this is book highlights that via Michelles achievements.
Culture and race has great representation in this book, characters are show with a variety of skin tones and cultural clothing.

There is a strong sense of family love and togetherness in this book, from her father, to the strong bond between her husband and children which later develops to a love for community and youth of the world.

Finally I love the final timeline, something that can extend this book to the older age ranges and gives some real life photos and some additional dates and facts about Michelle Obama.

In summary, this didn't disappoint, another fabulous Little People, Big Dreams book. Thank you to Quarto Publishing Group - Frances Lincoln Children's Books and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for my impartial review.

"I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own."
I really love this series of children's biographies. Overall they are really well done, and age appropriate.
I didn't love the illustrations in this one, maybe because it is so current and Michelle Obama is such a familiar face, but the images just didn' t seem flattering.

Michelle Obama is another wonderful story by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara in the Little People, Big Dreams series. This children's book is another one of my favourites in the series so far, and makes me want to read Michelle's autobiography, Becoming. Thanks to NetGalley for my ARC.

A few years ago, I read Michelle Obama's memoir "Becoming" and really loved her story of overcoming all of the obstacles in her way from being black and from the southside to making it at Ivy League and as a lawyer. I loved the way she and Barack fell in love and how she stood by his side so that he could accomplish his dreams, even if she didn't always agree with his aspirations. This book is a children's nonfiction book and is a condensed version of Michelle's memoir with all the main highlights in an easy to understand way so that children can also love and be inspired by her story.

I am a huge fan of Michelle Obama already. And when I saw this book I was elated. This book is simple but holds an important message for young girls for every color, race or ethnicity that go for your dreams and believe in yourself.

This installment of Little People, Big Dreams focuses on First Lady Michelle Obama. The book is written for young children to learn about her life. While I understand it's short because of the books target audience, there's so many wonderful things the book left out about Michelle!

This is a great book ......part of a "Little People, BIG DREAMS" series of books for little kids that tell about the lives of outstanding people that they may have heard of. They're empowering & inspiring! This book told about Michelle Obama's childhood & how she achieved great things thru out her life. The illustrations are brightly colored & relatable to the reader, young or older! It's a great introduction to what people can do, for that age group (maybe 4-7 y/o?)
I received an e-ARC of the book from Quarto Publishing Group-Frances Lincoln Children's Books, via NetGalley, in return for reading it & providing a fair/honest review.

This was a cute look at the First Lady’s life. I was happy to share this with my students and my own daughter, The illustrations were ok but the writing highlighted Michelle Obama’s life emphasizing important accomplishments but it did not emphasize her relationship with Barack and I really thought that was important because she was more than just a “wife” of the president. She was a strong woman who is a great role model for young girls.

This book is written very nicely for around 8 year olds. It has a good amount of information about Michelle Obama's life within the story as well as in the extended biography and timeline at the end of the book.

This was a very adorable picture book about the life of Michelle Obama. I think I would have liked to see a bit more about some of her accomplishments that weren't linked to her time as the First Lady as well as more about her family dynamics, but this is hard to do in a picture book before you get information overload and lose the target audience, so I am not sure it is a valid criticism. I love this series and will be adding this one to my kids' library.

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for giving me access to a free e-arc of this book in exchange of my honest opinion.
This book is so cute. The illustrations are simple yet beautiful and the story that goes with it is perfect. Obviously, I am not a child so what I'am going to say might be wrong but I thought that the vocabulary used might be a little bit to complex for a kid.

I love Michelle Obama, this was a short fun read. Appropriate for all ages.
Pretty illustrations, older kids can read on their own. Teachers can read to the younger ones and they would understand

Review to come July 6th to blog/goodreads/etc..

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.

I was so excited when I saw this book on Netgalley. Michelle Obama is such an amazing person and I was curious to learn more about her and how she became the woman she is today.

I loved reading about her youth, how despite some struggles she got where she wanted to be. How hard she studied to be the very best. But also how in-between all the studying she found time to run a care centre. I loved reading about her bond with her parents, I wish I had such a bond with my parents!
And of course… we get to the part where she meets Obama and how her life got even more exciting and big. I loved reading about all the things she did, from growing vegetables and how that turned into her #1 cause: food and fitness. I loved reading about the things she did for girls and the youth in general. I knew several things about that already, but still great to read about it!

Sadly, just like the Prince book in this series, the last part featuring the timeline once again doesn’t have words. Just pictures. I always love that timeline part as it gives some additional information. So it is just a shame that once again it is incomplete.

The art was really fun and I just LOVE LOVE the style of it. Yes, the eyes are a bit weird at times. XD

I am happy I had the chance to read this book. This series is just so inspirational and fun to read. I learn new things about people I like/have an interest in. And I also love that we get another artist for each of them. Perfectly fitting with the person the book is about.

As all the Little People books do, this one too is just a quick taste of what made this person both special and famous.

I like the little tidbits we do get, as the story races through her life, such a teacher telling her she couldn't go to Princeton, because she wasn't good enough, which made her all the more determined to get in.

I also like, that Barack is only mentioned in passing. I mean, yes, he was what made Michelle famous, to the rest of the country, but that wasn't made her who she was, and that she still continues to work for the disadvantaged.

Great intro to the woman and her life. As always, recommended.

Thank you Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara for another great Little People, BIG DREAMS (LPBD) book.

I think kids will really enjoy the newest edition to the LPBD series. Michelle Obama has lead a life inspired to help people, and it comes through in these pages. I loved learning more about her childhood and her family.

Can't wait to see who is featured in the series next.
