Thank you Penguin Random House and Netgalley for letting me read and review this book. Punch Needle Friends is a punch needle embroidery guide. This is a great book for beginners. There are 20 different animal motifs in here. It is pretty easy to follow, with step-by-step instructions.

This is such a cute project book. Detailed instructions and pictures. Very professionally done. I would love to make each and every one of these. I could picture a child's room decorated in these. Farm animals, dogs, cats, and wild creatures.

Super adorable animal patterns, I honestly don't know which one to make first. I'm leaning towards the sloth, but they all will be made. Easy to follow instructions, and great patterns.

There were a few cute ideas in here but as someone who is very crafty, I didn't find anything that particularly excited me. Probably this would be much more appropriate for a beginner.

Clear instructions, adorable projects! This book has everything you need to make a zoo full of amazingly cute punch needle animals. The directions are clear and the illustrations within the directions are essential to understanding how to recreate the project. I would pick up any book this nicely put together.

I loved this book! Thank you NetGalley. I’m an absolute beginner to this craft and yet after a couple of projects I felt confident enough to begin to think of my own projects. There is a huge range of so cute animal templates in this book - no-one could fail to love them as a present or keepsake, or just keep them for yourself.
A good range of techniques to get you going, and some to test you. I would definitely recommend this book if you want to try something a bit different.

I am an avid cross stitcher and have been considering trying punch needle. This book is perfect for beginners looking for simple, adorable patterns to start with. These projects would make great gifts, especially baby shower gifts. I highly recommend this book for any crafter looking to start punch needle!

The punch needle that I purchased years ago has remained in its package. Now I am anxious to take it out, and give it a try. In this book Faustine teaches the basics of the craft with clearly worded instructions and helpful photographs, moving gradually from the necessary tools and materials all the way to ways to display completed projects. The twenty animal projects are indeed adorable, and are presented in order of difficulty, with skills being built as the embroiderer moves from one to the next. This book virtually assures a beginners' success.

I am grateful to have received a complimentary copy of Punch Needle Friends from Quatro via NetGalley without obligation. All opinions expressed here are my own.

This book gives a wonderful picture and word definition of each piece to use, as well as a step-by-step guide to making this art. Really neat process and with some time and determination you will have an amazing new talent and a fun way to fill down time.

Thank you to NetGalley for an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review.

When I applied for this book on NetGalley I was hoping for really cute and lovely templates for kids' room projects, but when I got the book and looked inside it torned out that the projects weren't as cute as I thought and I nevery really used any of them for my crafts. Book seems to be good for people who start their adventure with pnch needle since it gives step by step instructions, but the projects were a bit disappointing from my point of view.

This book is simply adorable! I have done a lot of needlework and crafting, and I've been meaning to try punch needle, which is regaining in popularity, but haven't gotten to yet. When I'm ready to try it, I will definitely find a copy of this book. The animal faces will appeal to both young and old alike and make great presents for others! The patterns have simple lines to follow. The instructions seem clear and easy to follow. I really appreciate the amount of photos included! Photos are very helpful to crafters at seeing the process.

I was able to read this book for free in exchange for an honest review. And I gave it five out of five because it's a nice bang for your buck. All the animals are super cute and I think they'd all look great in a little girl's nursery as is. But they'd also be super easy to change for a little boy's room instead.

I want to thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the ebook! I love doing crafts and I cannot wait to try some of these patterns. I have a lot of nephews and a niece and they will love a lot of these patterns.

Punch Needle Friends is a sweetly whimsical tutorial collection with patterns by Faustine Duwicquet. Released 27th July 2021 by Penguin Random House on their Interweave imprint, it's 128 pages and is available in paperback and ebook formats.

These are really well balanced and appealing designs which are appropriate for a number of uses. The author shows the projects framed in embroidery hoops for consistency, but they'd also be lovely finished for other uses: pillows, soft furnishings, covers, wall hangings, and more. The book includes a good pictorial primer of the tools and supplies necessary as well as beginning setup and general techniques for punch needle with yarn. The techniques could be done with fabric strips, but the book doesn't include instructions for that - these projects are shown with yarn.

The projects themselves are arranged sequentially from easier to more advanced. None of them are overly complex. The projects also include surface details such as sewn bows, felt embellishments, and textural stitches. Each tutorial includes tools and supplies with measurements given in both American standard and metric (yay!). Yarn supplies are given by color without yardages. The step by step instructions are accompanied by multiple clear color photos and simple text captions. Templates are included in the back of the book (and according to the publisher's info, the physical copy also includes iron on transfers).

All of the projects are of animals with fun details (the otter, deer, and llama with their adorable little flower crowns are wonderful). All of them will give a good introduction to punch needle and allow readers to branch out into their own projects.

Five stars. It's very nice to see fibrearts other than cross-stitch getting some exposure. This book would be a good choice for maker's groups, fibrearts and embroidery guilds, public or school libraries, and the crafter's home studio.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

This is a great new take on embroidery, resulting in a plusher looking and unique finished project. The book contains step-by-step instructions, with pictures, for the patterns and stitches. The 12 patterns are varied and quite attractive. This would be an excellent book for embroidery enthusiasts who are interested in learning a new technique.

Absolutely adored "Punch Needle Friends"! I love arts & crafts, but haven't gotten into embroidery yet. Mostly because I have no idea where to begin and no friends who are into it. The 20 projects were thorough and easy to follow as a novice. The animal faces were all super cute and I'd definitely recommend this book to anyone interested in learning how to embroider!

Have you heard of punch needling? I would say the best way to describe it as a form of embroidery that works up quicker and is a lot easier for all ages to do. Instead of using a needle and thread, which create really small stitches, you use a punch needle and yarn that is used for knitting or for crochet. Since the yarn used for knitting crochet is thicker than the thread used for embroidery or cross stitch, you are able to fill up the canvas quicker which would certainly suit anyone looking at starting to embroider.

Punch Needle Friends is designed for the absolute beginner. Everything is explained very clearly without becoming too overly complicated. In these patterns, you are taught to use 4 different types of stitches, with the patterns provided progressively including more of these stitches and becoming more complicated in design.

My only complaint is that all of the project designs that are provided as part of this book are all animal, and more specifically their faces. I would have like to have seen maybe one or two slight variation in the designs as I quickly found myself skipping through in hope of a different pattern to try.

I personally cannot wait to give punch needling a try! This book will certainly be very helpful in my adventure into this world.
