This series by Karen White is on of my favorites. I lived in Columbia, SC for 15 years and visited Charleston frequently during that time. I remember picking the first book in the series up because of the cover, the setting, and the fact that it had ghosts. A trifecta of perfection for me. I’m so glad I was able to read the series and even though it has come to an end with this book, I think this final book in the series is perfect. Oh how the characters have grown!

I do like the fact that this book could be read as a stand alone. I hope lots of people will read this and then go back for the entire series!

The Attic on Queen Street is the seventh and purportedly last book in the Tradd Street series, and it has a little bit of everything— quirky characters, spookiness, cozy mystery, romance, historical context, and a great setting. I haven’t read any of the other books in this series, and while this can be read as a stand-alone since some backstory is explained throughout, I’d recommend reading the earlier books first. I think I would have enjoyed this one even more if I had read the series up to this point and knew more about the conflicts between Melanie and Jack and with Marc Longo that predate this story. That said, I really loved the historic downtown Charleston setting! There’s such a sense of place in this book. Having partly grown up in the Charleston area and visited plenty as an adult, I could picture so many of the places mentioned, which was a little bonus while reading. I’m looking forward to going back and reading more of this series. And if you’re already a fan, it sounds like a spin-off series is coming soon!

Thank you UpLit Reads, Karen White, and NetGalley for including me on this campaign and for my beautiful copy of The Attic on Queen Street!

The Attic on Queen Street is the finale to a wonderful series. You can’t go wrong with a Karen White book. Ghosts, mystery, love — This one did not disappoint!

I didn't really like this one unfortunately. I found the characters to be shallow and unrealistic. I found the "tension" between the two main characters to be juvenile and quite annoying. I was skipping pages toward the end just wanting the story to be over. But i suspect that readers who've enjoyed the previous books in the series will also like this one. The writing style just isn't for me.

Thank you @berkleypub and @uplitreads for the #giftedcopy.

I’ve been reading this series since the first book published in 2008, and I love the mix of southern fiction and paranormal. I’ve gotten so attached to all the characters, and the mysteries surrounding the house on Tradd Street and all of the other locations. I love the bits of history, the descriptions of Charleston, the architecture, antiques, and most of all, the ghost stories these books center around! The Attic on Queen Street is the perfect ending to the series - and I heard a spin off series that is set in New Orleans is in the works!

I do think you need to read the other books in the series to fully appreciate and understand this book - but it’s so worth it!

*Thank you to Berkley Publishing group, Karen White and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review*

“This house is more than brick, mortar, and lumber. It’s a connection to the past and those who have gone before us. It’s memories and belonging. It’s a home that has seen the birth of children and the death of the old folks, and the changing of the world from the outside. It’s a piece of history you can hold in your hands.” –The Attic on Queen Street, Karen White.

The Attic on Queen Street, by Karen White, is the seventh and final book in her Tradd Street series. The House on Tradd Street was the first in the series, which began in 2008. Readers were introduced to Melanie, the type A personality, real estate agent, party planner and ghost whisperer, who doesn’t enjoy talking to ghosts. In The Attic on Queen Street, Melanie is now married, a stepmother and has two twin toddlers, JJ and Sarah. Her Husband, Jack, has asked for a separation and is no longer living in the home. In this last book, Marc Longo, their arch nemesis, has stolen Jack’s manuscript for his latest book and published it as his own, would like to produce the film of the book at Melanie and Jack’s house in Charleston. While they are unsuccessful at stopping it, their united goal brings them closer to solving the problems of their marriage. At the same time, Melanie is trying to help her friend Veronica solve the mystery of her sister, Adrienne’s death 20 years prior, while planning a baby shower for Marc Longo’s wife, Rebecca, who is a distant cousin.

I have not read the entire Tradd Street series and I think it would have helped in some scenarios, where Melanie and Jack talk about things that happened in previous books. For example, they have found rubies in the grandfather clock in their hallway in the previous book, but if you haven’t read it, it does not explain well the backstory in this book. And the link to the Hope Diamond seems dubious at best. The author’s portrayal of being a mother with twin toddlers, a grumpy teenager while separated and working a full-time job can be hilarious though it would seem Melanie has more help than the average mother, with a full-time cook and a full-time Nanny. One thing that I did not enjoy in this last book is the separation between Melanie and Jack. I was not clear on why they separated, but apparently mistrust was at the heart of it. I found Jack dismissive, sly, and secretive and was not enjoying that piece of the novel. It felt dragged out for no reason, though it is explained at the end.

There were many things I loved about this book. While not usually a fan of historical fiction, I enjoyed piecing together the puzzle about a young girl’s death and while she was still haunting the Tradd Street house. I also enjoyed the side story of Adrienne’s death and Melanie solving that mystery, while a small red heart pillow follows her around all day long. There is humor, sadness, and tons of heartwarming moments where we envy Melanie for her cozy life in the city of Charleston. For fans of this series, there will be a spinoff series next, with Nola going to school in New Orleans with Beau, a brand-new character introduced in this book.

Love this series by Karen White so much and this is a great addition. Longtime fans will be satisfied as White brings her trademark writing style with her atmospheric and enjoyable stories.

This is the 7th and final book in the Tradd Street series. You definitely want to read these in order. I wasn’t aware of that, so I started with this one. Do as I say, not as I do!

Regardless of the fact that I spoiled some things for myself by starting with this one, I still really enjoyed this book. Karen White is fast becoming a favorite author.

Karen White is beginning a spin off series with characters from this book and previous ones in the series, so if you have read the Tradd Street series, be on the lookout in 2022 and 2023 for her new series set in New Orleans, bringing with The Shop on Royal Street.

Rich, atmospheric, and satisfying!

The Attic on Queen Street is a quirky, mysterious, entertaining tale that takes us back into the lives of Melanie, Jack, and the whole Trade Street gang, including a few intriguing newcomers, as they work on repairing fractured relationships, begrudgingly allow a movie production crew onto their property, and use the help and guidance from those long past once again to solve and close some tragic, unfinished cases.

The prose is vivid and descriptive. The characters are eccentric, lovable, and clever. And the plot is a well-paced, quirky tale full of amateur sleuthing, scandalous behaviour, treasures, ghosts, history, suspects, deduction, and an abundance of southern charm.

The Attic on Queen Street is the seventh and last novel in this wonderful series by White. And even though it is a little bittersweet to say goodbye to the lovely gang we’ve come to know and love over the last seven novels, it has been an absolute pleasure to be able to indulge in all the mystique, adventure, mishaps, and romance that’s happened on Tradd Street over the entire series.

This series is such a fantastic mashup of different genres and I always enjoy reading the books. The book is part ghost story and mystery, part women's fiction with a little bit of romance, and a bit of historical fiction. The same can be said of all the books in the series, all of which are fantastic. I really enjoyed getting back into the story with these characters and solving more ghost stories. The writing was great, the characters are all wonderful and I enjoyed the mysteries. The only issue I have with this book (and with the last one as well) was that the relationship issues seemed forced and like a ploy to get the reader to pick up the next book. The issues still seemed unbelievable in this one as well. I was really hoping that Jack and Melanie's relationship would develop better than it did. Other than that disappointment I really enjoyed the book.

I really enjoyed reading about Melanie and Tradd Street. The story was delightful and make me feel at home while reading it. I want to go back and read the whole series!

When I signed up for this campaign from UpLit reads I didn’t realize I was signing up for the 7th book in the series. All I knew is that I’ve read another Karen White book and really enjoyed it.

The Attic on Queen Street finishes up the Tradd Street series that takes place in Charleston, South Carolina. I broke my rule about reading series in order and went ahead and read it so I could report back near pub day.

I really loved it. This series follows Mellie who can communicate with ghosts and I fell in love with the setting, characters, and writing! I really enjoyed the ghost aspect too. There were a few mysteries woven throughout the story but it’s not scary so if you’re a scaredy cat like me you’ll still enjoy it!

I can’t wait to go back and read the rest of the books in the series- in order! I would say, if you plan to read this one I’d recommend starting from book 1 because it seems like the books build on each other and trust me, if you read one you’ll want to read them all!

🎃Are you looking for one last spooky book to read before we spooky season is completely over? I have got a book for you!

Thank you so much to @uplitreads for a #gifted copy of this book!

✨Happy Publication to the 7th and final book of the Tradd Street series. I went into this book without reading the other ones and I felt intrigued to read the other books in the series. These books are a blend of mystery, drama, character development, romance and historical fiction that all take place in one of my favorite cities in the US, Charleston!

In this book you are following Melanie who's having a fallout with her relationship with Marc. But there are plenty of other things keeping her busy because there is a mystery (or two) underway.... one that may or may not include supernatural elements.

This book is definitely not a heart pounding story, but instead a complex story with lots of different subplots and interactions. A solid end to the series!

How do I say good-bye to a series that I have loved and reread several times since the very first installment came out? How do I say good-bye to all the characters I have fallen in love with and watched grow stronger? It was so hard to pick up this last book in the Tradd Street series, but in a way it was like going back to the very beginning and falling in love with the full cast of characters all over again.

For those of you who haven’t picked up this series you really need to make it a priority! There is family drama, laughter, ghosts (both good and dangerous), and a close knit group of friends that pull together and are always there for each other. White also has a way with her beautiful descriptions that transport you right into historic Charleston and the beautiful homes (and the banes of nonstop restoration work). I’m not joking when I say that I was constantly stalking White’s page for announcements for upcoming books in this series.

I was sad to see this series end, but I am beyond happy with how White brought it all together with her cast of ghosts, bad guys (die Marc Longo!) and of course Melanie and her supportive family. From the very first page I was enveloped in the mystery and turning the pages as fast as I could all while trying to savor this final book.

At the very end White included notes to her readers and fans of this series. Needless to say I was tearing up as I read them. Thank you Karen White for the creation of this series and the beautiful cast of characters (real and ghosts) you created.

Now to patiently wait for the spin off with Nola and all the wonderful and mysterious adventures I know are awaiting her in New Orleans!

Thank you so much Uplit Reads and Berkley Publishing for the gifted copy of this book and having me on this amazing tour!

Tradd Street Series is wonderful, and I am sad that this is the final book in the series but excited to see more of Beau and Nola in the new series coming from Karen White. Each book in this series continues exactly where the one before it lets off and I do recommend reading them in order.

In this book we find Mellie and Jack separated but living in the same house as a movie is being filmed in their house. The attraction and love between Mellie and Jack is still there and I was cheering for them to get past their differences and find a way to get back together. I liked that even though they were separated they still respect each other, and the Almost Kiss Count had me wanting them to Almost Kiss through the whole book.

I loved the family dynamics, the interaction of the ghosts, and the way Karen White pulled all the loose ends together leaving me not needing more but still wanting more. The theme baby shower was so funny, I cannot imagine what the guests truly thought when they received that invitation and arrived at the party. The setting of Charleston is rich with history that is shared through the ghosts and through the detailed description of the community.

The Attic on Queen Street is the perfect last book in the series.

The Attic On Queen Street
By Karen White

The Attic On Queen Street is the seventh and possibly the last book in Karen White's best-selling Tradd Street series, whose main character can see and speak to the dead - ghosts of all sorts really. As the first book I am reading from the series, I find it exciting to read a combination of a women's fiction, treasure hunt with a bit of mystery and thrill, and of course lots of great historical fiction with plot twists that kept my fingers turning those pages.

I love the writing and the characters - both dead and alive, and the intriguing life of Melanie Trenholm whose whirlwind life as a mother, a star realtor and historic home renovator gets upturned when her husband Jack asks for a separation. But a proposal from long-time nemesis Marc Longo to use their Tradd street home as a filming location for his book's movie adaptation may jump start Jack's writing career and that just sounds like a double edged sword. This was such an enjoyable read for me and here i come reading the backlist.

When the Tradd Street series began, I was interested and entertained by the light-hearted books set in Charleston, a town that I love. Sadly, the last couple of books have been disappointing and this one was tedious to get through. The characters have lost their appeal to me and I don't like the tension between Jack and Melanie. I'm glad to see this book wraps up the series and a new one begins with some carryover characters, although I'm not sure if I'll be interested enough to read those. I think Karen White is a very talented writer, I just wish she would go in a different direction with her future books.

I really enjoyed the character development through this book. I have been following this series for awhile and it was nice to see Melanie really come into her own and turn back into the strong independent Melanie that I think was slightly lacking in earlier books. I like that you basically got two mysteries in one with a friend's sister murdered over 20 years ago and a Civil War-era ghost. The clues kept me on my toes and wondering which mystery it was more connected to which I liked. I slightly wish Sophie had more of a role as the best friend, at least in given advice, but at the same time more interactions with her would have slowed down the pacing. I did catch one plot hole, or at least I think it's a plot hole, where Sophie introduces Beau to Melanie and it's eluded to that Sophie and Melanie are not has close as the once were and had a falling out but it is never really addressed later on. For course I could have been just reading into it more than necessary. Overall I enjoyed this book and series and look forward to her new one featuring Beau and Nora!

I started reading the Tradd Street series when my oldest (almost 14) was around a year old. It was bittersweet to read the final book in this series but the afterward holds some exciting news. There's a lot to love about The Attic on Queen Street as many loose ends are finally tied up. As much as I love Mellie and Jack, they often annoy me and being honest, it's usually Melanie. This time it was Jack. I wanted to shake him multiple times and couldn't believe his audacity haha. In the entirety of the series, it's the ghost and treasure hunting plots that I find the most intriguing and I do wish that more time was spent on those aspects than some of the others.
