I love this series and I'm sad it is ending. The characters are unique, the story is fun, and I always get a chuckle from the funny personality quirks everyone has.
If you haven't read this series, start with book one and plan to become addicted.
Enjoy!

The Attic on Queen Street by Karen White is a 2021 Berkley publication.

Couldn’t have asked for a better series' finale!!

Jack and Melanie have separated, and it would seem Melanie is taking it much harder than Jack. While the movie preparations are taking place, though, Jack is encouraged to move back into the house, with Melanie- at least temporarily.

At first, Melanie is pleased with this development- but soon finds the situation even more untenable, as Jack teases, then pulls away- trying everyone’s patience… including mine!

Meanwhile, Melanie is trying to get her real estate groove back as she continues to work on the case concerning a friend’s missing sister-

While also dealing a spirit that warns, Melanie’s stepdaughter, Nola, to beware a tall man.

If that weren’t enough, she’s got her hands full with twins, a creepy coffin doll, and her old nemesis Marc Longo’s snooping around the house looking for more treasure…

This series has been one of my all-time favorites! It’s a combination of mystery, adventure, and the paranormal, with fun dialogue, create characters, and plenty of family drama, and romance.

The previous installment left me feeling bereft, and I remained worried nearly the entire way through this book, my heart up in my throat, as I began to wonder if one of my favorite book couples would make it or not.

The two mysteries Melanie works to solve are both compelling, and very well-plotted. In fact, the writing here was superb from start to finish!

By the time the final page was turned I had a deep feeling of satisfaction with the way Karen White wrapped everything up for these awesome characters!

Not only that, but a wonderful surprise will give fans an exciting preview into Nola’s future, in one of my favorite book locales. I can’t wait to follow Nola’s adventures and hope we can occasionally receive a few updates from Charleston…

Overall, if you haven’t read this series, I suggest reading the books in order, you’ll be glad you did- but if you don’t have time, at least read book six before starting this one… oh- and grab a few donuts and queue up some ABBA to set the mood!

It is sad to see the curtain go down on this series, but Karen White really did the characters, and the history of Charleston, justice by giving them one heck of a send-off!

4.5 stars

I’m a big fan of books by Karen White! They are always fun, light reads with some suspense threaded through which keeps you hooked. In The Attic of Queen Street, she writes about the character of Melanie and her home on Tradd Street. This is a series featuring Melanie and I’ve read all of the books in the series, trust me- they are really good!

After the devastating events of the past few months, the last thing Melanie Trenholm wants is to think about the future. Why, when her husband, Jack, has asked for a separation—a separation that might have been her fault? Nevertheless, with twin toddlers, a stepdaughter leaving for college soon, a real estate career to resume and a historic home that is still being restored, Melanie doesn’t have much time to wonder where it all went wrong—but that doesn’t stop her from trying to win her husband back.

Their relationship issues are pushed aside, however, when longtime nemesis, Marc Longo, comes to them with a proposition: allow their Tradd Street house to be used as the filming location for the movie adaptation of Marc’s bestselling book, and he will help Jack re-establish his stalled writing career. Despite Melanie’s hesitation, Jack jumps at the chance. But Melanie’s doubts soon prove to be well founded when she uncovers ulterior reasons for Marc wanting to be back in their house—reasons that include a hidden gem so brilliant that legend links it to the most infamous jewel of all, the Hope Diamond.

But Melanie has an unexpected ally in protecting the house and its inhabitants—the ghost of a Civil War era girl warns her of increasing threats to her family. But she’s not the only spirit who is haunting Melanie. A malevolent ghost seems determined to stop Melanie from investigating the decades-old murder of a friend’s sister, and this spirit will stop at nothing to protect its secrets—even from beyond the grave.

Melanie and Jack must work together to find the answers before evil spirits of past and present destroy everything they love.

You wont want to miss this entertaining book, this one comes out on

I have been a huge fan of Karen Whites since 2008 when I picked up her first Tradd Street series book, The House on Tradd Street. I live in Charleston and have enjoyed seeing this beautiful city come to life through these stories, however, I think it was time for it to come to an end.

The last two books have been somewhat of a disappointment. I was bored most of this and literally had no motivation to pick it up. Melanie & Jack’s relationship issues just seemed forced and not true to who they were throughout the other books. Their relationship didn’t evolve the way I had hoped it would.

Overall, I have adored this series and will never hesitate to recommend to readers looking for a fun, light trip to Charleston and her ghosts. 3 stars.

The seventh book in the series and while each mystery is self contained in each book, I would absolutely suggest starting at book one as there is a lot of character development of the main characters from book to book and you don't want to miss the build!

Melanie is the main character and she can see and communicate with the dead. She typically speaks to those who need resolution so they can cross over to the other side and as she lives in historic Charleston, SC, there are many spirits roaming around needing a final end. In this book, she is having personal issues in her marriage and is in the middle of a battle that involves her own home while she has a few spirits who need her help.

While I don't typically read books with spirits, this one has so much mystery and plot that I have loved all the books in this series. I also love the characters. Melanie is great and her relationship with her kids, her husband and all the other large cast of characters was just fun to read.

While in the author's note she states that this is the end of this series. I am excited that this book sets up a spin off series and I will be excited to pick up those books in the future.

I have procrastinated about reading this too soon because I didn't want this series to end! The Attic
on Queen Street by Karen White, the final book in the Tradd Street series, did not disappoint - another
great mystery, a Jack and Melanie resolution and what appears to be the beginning of a new series to look
forward to with Nola! If you haven't read any of these add them to your tbr pile!!!

This was such a great conclusion to the Tradd Street series! I have been reading all of these books since I first found The House on Tradd Street back in 2013 and now want to go back and read them all again in succession. I really love Melanie and Jack together and although I feel sad that the series has come to an end, I do believe that their story was wrapped up quite well. This had all the ghosts and mystery that you know will be waiting for you in a Tradd Street book. I am looking forward to Karen's next series that follows their daughter Nola and Beau in New Orleans. Hoping we see more of JJ and Sarah in the future as well!

Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review. All opinions are my own.

Publishes 2 November 2021.

"The Attic On Queen Street" was a great wrap-up to Karen White's popular Tradd Street Series, as well as setting up a brand-new spinoff series set in New Orleans. Reading these books always makes me feel as though I've taken a little vacation to Charleston- White's description of the city, the people, and most of all the food(!) make it feel like you're there. This is certainly escapist fiction at its' best, with a compelling mystery to solve and a hello to series regulars we've come to enjoy. This is a book that would be difficult to pick up and read as a stand-alone; instead I'd steer readers to the beginning of the series.

This book is great! Would definitely recommend. Thanks so much to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

There were several things I liked about this book, namely the setting of the City of Charleston and the historic houses. I also enjoyed the creepy ghostly spirits and the mystery elements in this book.

This is the 7th book in the series and I did feel at a disadvantage not having read the other books in the series. I do not recommend reading this book as a standalone. The first chapter contains several characters and plot points for previous books. It is so full, I had to read it twice to catch all of the backstory tidbits.

Because this is the first book I have read in the series, I thought the characters lacked depth. Viewed by a first time reader, Melanie was needy and obsessed with Jack. Jack seems like a jerk, withholding his affection because of this previous ‘event’. By the description in the first chapter, it didn’t seem like such an egregious event to warrant Jack’s behavior.

I really appreciated the Author’s Note at the end which contained more information tying up the series and the news of a spin off series in New Orleans.

Return to the house on Tradd Street for one last time as the bestselling series featuring psychic medium Melanie Trenholm comes to a hauntingly spectacular finale.
Thanks to Berkely and NetGalley for the ARC. I enjoy reading books early so I can help patrons find books.
This has been a great series. I have enjoyed getting to know the characters and all the crazy things that have happened to them. Maybe there will be a spinoff in the future?

Great conclusion to the series! And I like that there will be a spin-off, since I really like the characters that this author has created. I feel like this novel wrapped up the loose ends very well, and was very satisfying. I wasn't sure how the main characters were going to make amends, but there were mysteries in mysteries, which made for a great read.

In the seventh and final book in the popular Tradd Street series, Melanie is struggling to figure out two mysteries, being a mother to twins, a teenage stepdaughter on her way to college, a broken marriage that she wants repaired, and a movie filming in her historic home. There is a lot of things going on, and yet Karen White has everything wrapped up at the end. I enjoyed being able to read this advanced copy through Netgalley.

Melanie Trenholm is devastated when her husband Jack asks for a separation. She is in the middle of raising twin toddlers, restarting a real estate career, and a historic home renovation when he drops this bomb on her. Melanie is preparing to try to win her husband back when author Marc Longo comes to them with a proposal. Marc wants to use their Tradd Street house as a filming location for the movie adaptation of his book. Jack jumps at the chance to help Marc and sees it as a chance to help to revive his writing career. Melanie sees it differently, and suspects that Marc has an ulterior motive.

Karen White delivers a great finale to the Tradd Street Series with THE ATTIC ON QUEEN STREET. The writing was superb and the pacing was just right. Charleston is one of my favorite places to visit so I loved the setting! If you are a fan of this series, you will probably love the finale!

Many thanks to Berkley Publishing Group and NetGalley for my ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I love the Tradd Street series by Karen White so I was sadly looking forward to the final book in the series and I felt like The Attic on Queen Street was the perfect way to wrap it up!

Melanie Middleton is a Charleston real estate agent who inherits a historic house with ghosts and throughout the series she renovates the house ashe has different encounters with the ghosts and secrets within the house and family that she inherited the house from. She went from a single career woman to married and a mother with a house full of love.

I feel like this book is the resolution to a lot of what happens in book six - The Christmas Spirit on Tradd Street since that one I felt like ended on a big cliffhanger. I'm always going to cheer for Melanie and Jack! I loved seeing what happens to all of my favorite and not so favorite characters. And of couse the beautiful Charleston setting and historical preservation aspect.

The authors note at the end has me SO excited for the spin off on Nola as she embarks to college in New Orleans!!

Not going to lie... I was a little worried before I started reading this book. The last book, The Christmas Spirits on Tradd Street, left me with some mixed feelings. The manipulation of Melanie by her family and her actions really bugged me. So much so that it was my least favorite book in the series by far. I started to feel like maybe this series was headed somewhere I didn't want to go. Luckily, I was wrong. Karen White's writing immediately pulled me in and never let me go. I was once again charmed by the Charleston, South Carolina setting and the characters and ghosts inhabiting it.

Melanie is going through a tough time in The Attic on Queen Street. Her marriage is in crisis. Jack has moved out and Melanie is trying to figure out how to make the changes she needs to repair things with him. She's got twin toddlers and a high schooler to worry about. To add to the mess, Marc Longo is filming his stupid movie at her house and there is a ghost who needs her help in her friend Veronica's attic on Queen Street. Melanie has a lot to take care of, and I loved all the ups and downs in this book.

If Melanie drove me nuts in the last book, she had my sympathy in this one. She was truly trying to work on herself despite dealing with a ton of grief and confusion. I loved that she was willing to work on her "flaws" and make herself a better person. Melanie learned so much about herself, and in turn how to navigate her crazy life better.

Jack... I normally love Jack because of how he loved Melanie and all her extra-ness. I could feel his love for her in this book as well, but he was the one who drove me batty this time around. I was just as confused over some of his actions as Melanie. I want to say more, but won't give anything away, so I will say I thought the Melanie-Jack issue and romance stuff wrapped up well.

All of the side characters did better this time around. They still tried to influence Melanie, but it felt more positive and less preachy. They also all stepped up and supported her in helpful ways. I loved seeing her bond with her mother and half-sister strengthen. Jack and Melanie's twins were just as adorable as ever. And Nola was growing up and learning some important lessons. I even loved how horrible Marc and Rebecca were.

As for the mystery, there were two going on at the same time. Both were interesting and entertaining. I especially enjoyed trying to figure out what was going on in the attic of Veronica's house. I guessed the answer before it was revealed, but still loved how it all played out.

I absolutely loved this final book in the Tradd Street series. It completed things in the best way. It's a little bittersweet that the series is ending because I had forgotten how much I love the setting and all of the characters. I'm super excited that White is writing a spin-off with Nola and Beau in New Orleans. I just know it's going to be fun!

I have read every Karen White book.
A patron came asking me about her books, pulled up list to recommend and saw this was a coming release.
I requested an ARC, thrilled to receive, thank you to publisher, review is my own.
Have to start reading now...

This is the 7th and final book in a series (originally a 2 book series)

Immediately I am back in story, reacquainted with family and friends (and restless dead).
I was reading nonstop to solve and be with family, I could not stop reading until the final word.

I will continue reading as long she continues writing.

The latest and last installment in the Tradd Street series is an enjoyable and fitting ending to the series. Karen White vividly brings to life the city of Charleston, as well as the old Victorians that grace the town and the inhabitants, both living and dead, that reside on Tradd Street. Melanie and Jack have grown and changed a lot throughout the series, and it's been fun following them through their ghostly adventures.. In this book, Although I'm sad to see this series ending, I am happy to hear that Karen White will be starting another series with Nola, Jack's daughter, as well as a new character that was introduced in this book. A light-hearted and fun read, fans of this series will be happy with the finale. Thanks to NetGalley and Berkeley Publishing for an advanced copy.

It is so hard sometimes to say good bye to series that you love and the characters that you have come to adore over time.

This is one such series. I have loved the creeptastic feel of the ghosts, monsters and very real family dynamic of this series from the very first time I opened it up and over time it has quickly become one I truly look forward to reading. White is an amazing writer in what every genre she chooses and all her stories feel like a treat.

And while I am so very sad to see this series end, I am so happy with how it all came together. With the ghosts, with the bad guys (real and dead!) and of course with the Trenholms. I truly am so happy I took a chance on this series and these stories. They have never let me down and I can't wait for the spin off with Nola and all the wonderful (and scary!) adventures I know are awaiting her.
