This was a fascinating and academic look at why the gender gap between D and R is so different. There is a lot of sources, and it is very detailed. But this book repeats a lot of information several times and is very dry.

Pro:
This is clearly well researched.
It gave all of its sources.
It gives four different frameworks for the differences between parties causing the gender difference

Cons:
It reads like a textbook
It repeats some of the same information several times.

Thank you, NetGalley, for a copy of this ARC

What I liked: The book is very clear and convincing in the way it outlines how the partisan gap happened, and why it's likely to continue unless some key things change. I expected this book to sort of lean politically to one side or another, but it stayed refreshingly neutral and objective.

What I didn't like: There were two things I really didn't like. This book was really quite repetitive, even for a book in the academic genre that often makes repeating necessary to make small but important distinctions. Also, there were a lot of speculations about how the 2020 election would go, yet we're halfway through 2021 already. I understand the journey from manuscript to publication is not instant, but in this case, I feel publication could have been delayed 3-6 months in order to accommodate some edits in order to bring this book up to date.

Overall: The book had some interesting ideas, and I learned a lot from it. Having said that, I think there's a lot of room for improvement here.
