I enjoyed this story but it didn't suck me in from start to finish. I had a hard time staying invested in reading it. I think I leave this review for now wait a month or two and try to read it again to see if it changes for me.

I just love the Stay a Spell series and Witches Get Stitches was such a wonderful addition to the series!

Nico has got to be one of my favorite heroes now. The way he knows exactly what he wants ( aka Violet) and has the patience to wait for her to be ready was all kinds of swoony.

Violet is so driven to open her business and I really admire her drive and finding what will make her happy. The way Violet and Nico support each other and really become friends first was such a great basis for a relationship. It also made me anxiously wait on the edge of my seat for the two to finally come together, and once they did, it was like fireworks! The chemistry between the two was undeniable and just jumped off the page. So good!

I also can’t end this review without mentioning the hilarity that is Fred the rooster, He just stole the show every time we saw him, and had me now wishing for a pet Rooster! The sisters relationship is also perfection and makes me so excited to read the rest of their stories.

This series has a way of making me feel cozy and at home like very few others I’ve read and I will always be coming back for more visits.

A review copy of this book was provided by Netgalley and the author. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Witches Get Stitches Book 3 in Juliette Cross’s Stay a Spell series
4 out of 5 Stars Review

Juliet Cross’s Stay a Spell Series set in New Orleans is my absolute favorite paranormal romance series hands down! Cross's writing gets even better with each book where she adds a new layer of Louisiana flavor to her series. Every time I read a new book in the series “I think that's my favorite!”

With Witches Get Stitches, I was a bit concerned with this new werewolf book because I loved Mateo and Alpha so much, but Juliette Cross’s newest werewolf Nico Cruz does not disappoint. I love the relationship between Violet Savoie and Nico Cruz. It's hot and fabulous with just the right amount of sexy heat and smolder. Everybody needs an Nico Cruz to adore them.

And while tattoos are not part of my reading catnip, Cross uses tattoo art and artistry in an intriguing fashion further developing the mythology of the werewolf and the witch, which created an interesting and engaging plot twist. I was completely hooked and enjoyed learning about tattoo art.

New Orleans is a place where anything is possible even werewolves, vampires, witches, and grims. Besides the world-building Cross does in this third book in the series, she creates the magical New Orleans that feels probable. She crafts such a plausible paranormal world that it seems more than possible that you could visit on your next trip to the Big Easy.

One of the things Cross does best in this series and in this newest book is introduce the back stories and relationships of all of the characters. The Savoie sisters are a delightful family that keeps growing with each new romance in the series. Perhaps one of the most enjoyable things about this book is the sisterly bonds and how they love each other, support each other, and take delight in each other's adventures. It's also a strength of Cross’s craft to bring back characters from the first few books and gifting the reader with glimpses of possible new couples in books yet to come. The Paranormal world in the series keeps expanding, and I hope it means more books to come.

Violet and Nico are a tremendous couple. They compliment each other in so many ways.

Violet is a witch, and as such should have known better than to try and see her own future. Now she's a love 'em and leave 'em type 'cos none of the males she has met so far are "the one". She and Nico have a "interlude" at New Years' and she thinks she'll never see him again. But now he's in New Orleans and is essentially her business partner.

Nico needed to get out of Austin before he succumbed to the pack's violent nature. He's not against a good rumble every so often but he wants more than violence in his life. When he met Violet he felt the tug towards her but his wolf is getting impatient.

From friends to lovers, these two just make you laugh and cry in turn. They each have a sadness to them but working together it's like they heal the other without realising it. I loved Violet's idea to help tame the wildness in werewolves. I wasn't so keen on a certain pack's action to try and secure her services though!

For a so-called impulsive male, Nico has the patience of a saint! He waited out Violet and got the girl in the end! Let's face it what's not to like in a male that protects, sings, and plays the guitar!

There are little glimpses of Evie & Mateo and Izzy & Devraj. There's also a certain bow tie-wearing, Houdini-esque rooster called Fred! Loved meeting some more Grims - I can't wait to find out what happens with a certain grim and Violet's sister LOL.

It has been absolute insta-love with every single book from the Stay a Spell series! Reading Violet's and Nico's story was fun, a bit frustrating because STUBBORN ... and a little bit angsty, which I love. If you loved Devraj from Don't Hex and Drive, just wait until you meet Nico :)

Their story is straight fire from beginning to end. When they have a memorable and passionate moment together that's forever etched on their minds only to be quickly friendzoned because of Violet's seer status. And then onto being business partners it was for the both of them.

I keep saying this time and time again, Juliette writes shifters and mates so well. And there's no doubt that Violet and Nico are meant to be together. But with the Violet's gift and thing's that are to come, she reigns her feelings in to prevent any heartbreak.

And yes, the frustration began! I loved that Nico would do whatever it takes to make Violet his, even waiting things out. But just the little things he does here and there will definitely make you swoon over him. His wolf was literally always right there wanting to claim what was there, but my goodness his patience. I have to give him major points for that. Even though dominance is in his nature as a wolf, I loved his soft and sweet side especially towards Violet.

It was only a matter of time!

Juliette blends the perfect amount of paranormal and contemporary romance. I enjoy the fact that the romance between Vi and Nico is the main focus. But you still get some paranormal factors with learning a little about the way of the wolves and just how Nico is on a day to day basis. AND more of not only what the Savoie sisters are capable of, but exploring each one of them and their specific gift.

I read this in one sitting and I can't wait for what's to come especially when we get glimpses here and there of the other sisters. There's always something to look forward to.

All the recommendations for this one especially if you're looking for something that's not too heavy on the paranormal!

I’m scrolling through NetGalley looking for a possible new author for me to discover and what do I find but Juliette Cross and the third book in her Stay a Spell series, neither of which is new to me nor unknown. In fact, I have been saving up this series to read binge read because HELLO! It’s Juliette Cross! She’s like addicting potato chips and I know once I start reading anything by this author, I am going to want more. I wanted to wait a while until more of the series came out but, here I am looking at Witches Get Stitches and I know there is no waiting any longer for me. *Makes grabby hands motion*

Violet has a dream to open her own tattoo shop. One that caters to supernaturals in need of permanent charms, and as a seer, she has magic to cast every kind of spell. With the help of her business partner, Nico, her dream is about to come true. What she doesn’t know is Nico Cruz also has a motive. He needs her help to get his werewolf side under control. That isn’t all of it. He wants, no he needs, to be with Violet so he will his plan is to work his way into her heart and life until Violet finally recognizes they are fated to be together. Luckily, Nico has no scruples about misbehaving to get what he wants.

Nico and Violet….ACK! This was a hot one. Violet is so headstrong, and Nico is sooo sexy. You could literally see sparks fly between them. The book starts out hot and heavy and then whoosh, we are brought into real time and watch it all, meaning more than bow-chica-wow-wow, build between them. And it is anything but smooth sailings. Violet’s struggles to keep Nico in the friends’ zone but it so hard when there is that ‘something’ between them. Just when you think things are going to work out, Nico’s past comes back to haunt him in the form of his former pack. YIKES! Never a dull moment!

OMG! How am I going to be able to live with myself and wait for the next book to come out?! This series is so good it’s an addiction. The further I get into it the more I want it to keep going! Potato chips people, potato chips. Good thing there are quite a few Savoie sisters because I expect each and everyone of them to get their own story…especially Clara. I would love to see a little witch and grim action go down.

Stars: 5
I received this book from Netgalley. I was not compensated for the book other than the entertainment it provided. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

'm not sure what it is about this series that I love so much...... Is it the writing? Is it the characters? Is it the paranormal elements? Probably the witches? I don't know. Whatever it is, I hope it never changes.

Nico and Violet are my favorite couple of the series so far.

I won't lie, Violet tested my patience in the beginning of this book. Man, she was fucking stubborn. But once she figures her shit out she doesn't hold back and I loved that.

This whole series is a fun, easy, low-angst and you will fall in love with every single character. ESPECIALLY Liv! I can't wait for her book, she is a riot.

These books always seem to come out when I need to get out of a slump. I can't wait for the next one! I definitely need to read more witch stories.... Anyone have any good recommendations?

I really enjoyed Violet and Nico's story, Nico is definitely my favorite.
Nico meets Violent before moving to New Orleans and they instantly hit it off. Few months later when Nico shows up Violet gives him the cold shoulder. Violet misinterprets a meaning she is shown and decides it better that her and Nico are only friends. Their chemistry was intense and the steaminess was epic. This has become my new favorite!!! I love the Savoie's sister and can't wait for more of the witchy sisters.

3.5 STARS

Violet Savoie’s dream of opening her own tattoo shop is coming true with the help of her witchy sisters and business partner, Nico Cruz. They first met two years before in Austin and after a very heated encounter, Violet fled the scene. Nico moved to NOLA a year ago, and has done everything he can to become Violet’s friend since she will not allow anything else. As a Werewolf, Nico knows who she is to him, but Violet has other ideas

Violet made to risky mistake of reading her own tarot cards and ever since, has been keeping Nico at arm’s length despite the intense attraction between. She thinks the cards foretold of a bad relationship for them. Not only is Violet attracted to Nico, she wants to help him and all wolves manage their untamed violent other halves by using her magic in tattoos. Ever since they were cursed by a witch, the weres have been outcasts, mostly shunned by all other supernaturals because of their uncontrollable natures. What Violet is trying to do for Nico and his cousin, Mateo, gets out to Nico’s old pack bringing them to town making trouble. And werewolf trouble means violence.

Violet is one of those frustrating characters whose stubborn nature and refusal to see the truth despite, ironically, being a powerful Seer gets irritating at times. Nico is too nice really, putting up with all her misdirection, mixed signals, and pushing him to the brink because his wolf knows Violet is his mate; they are tired of waiting for her to realize it. Nico is also a talented singer who performs at the family pub so he spends a lot of time around Violet which is tortuous. The Savoie sisters make up this crazy witch family, each of them having special talents and skills including Violet’s twin who is very much the opposite of her. This is the third in the Stay a Spell series but can be read as a standalone.

The werewolf the witch and a rooster named Fred Oh! My!

Another fabulous installment of juliette cross's Stay A Spell series!!!! This series just keeps getting better and hotter every book and I'm totally hook, line and fucking sinker!!!! What a fabulous storyteller Juliette cross is!!! Nico is one hot sexy werewolf and a total alpha male who knows how to take care of a lady!!! I don't know how many hot flashes I had reading his and Violet's make out sessions!! This book started out with a bang and the chemistry was off the charts!!!! Holy f**king shit! Cross is going to ruin me for other paranormal dudes!!! The storyline and writing were fabulous as always and the characters main and secondary ( for now) are so damn interesting and I want this series to go on FOREVER!!!! I love all the savoie sisters and while I identify more with either Jules the oldest sister and head of this family or violet's twin sister Clara the nurturer it is violet who I'd want to be!!! She's very out spoken and snarky and quick with a come back but she meant her match with this smoking hot wolf!!! I loved how after just one hot and steamy meeting that he knew she was his mate and followed her all the way back to new Orleans to get her to see they had something together and little by little he wore this independent and sexy witch down. Between curses and a pack of werewolves that have their own agenda when he comes to violet theirs a whole lot of action and suspense with laugh out loud moments and sex that gave a whole new meaning to howling at the moon! And juliette gave us little hints here and their for what's coming next! And theirs some exciting news in store for one of our couples and yes even bad boy Alpha mateo's inner wolf has something to say ! Never get tired of this egotist wolf! If you haven't started this series you have time to catch before this comes out in July!!! So grab a cold drink turn the fan to high and get ready to enter the world of Juliette Cross its gonna be a scorcher!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥Until next time Luv's💋💕

I absolutely loved this book! This is the third book in the Stay a Spell series and it’s everything you could hope for! The Savoie sisters are so fierce and Violet is no different.

After a chance encounter with Violet Savoie in Austin, Nico Cruz - and his wolf - are pushed to relocate in New Orleans. The vibrant seer calls to them, even if she’s not ready to admit they’re fated to be together. Violet’s resistance to Nico only stokes the fire burning between them. All that tension and desire is absolutely explosive when Violet finally submits to her mate.

Juliette Cross has truly created an incredible duo. Nico and Violet have a soul deep creativity they each bleed so passionately, both for their work and each other. I loved watching their journey unfold and the strength that radiates from them. There’s so much heart in this story it will captivate you from the beginning.

I received an ARC from NetGalley and the author in exchange for an honest review.

RATING 4.5 STARS

Witches Get Stitches is book three in the Stay a Spell series by Juliette Cross. This is Violet and Nico’s book and I can’t wait for you to meet them.

Violet Savoie is one of the six Savoie sisters, and is also the twin sister of Clara. Violet is a witch, a Divine Seer. She’s been working in her family’s bar, The Cauldron, for years now trying to save up money for her dream, to start her own tattoo parlor. Violet and Nico first meet on a New Years Eve when she is in Austin. Their encounter is short and hot. Violet has no interest in relationships, especially not with this sexy werewolf. She was certainly shocked when a year later, Nico shows up in her own city of New Orleans, on stage at the very bar she works at.

Nico Cruz is a werewolf who was part of a pack in Austin. Nico knew he needed to get out of Austin, that he needed to separate himself from the pack. When he met the bewitching Violet, she gave him the reason he needed for leaving. He knew right away that Violet was important to him. She might run, but he would follow her. He and his wolf wanted Violet and he would wait for as long as it took for her to figure out what they could be together.

Violet and Nico become friends, and then business partners when Violet opens her own tattoo shop, Empress Ink. Violet wants to do more than just to express her art on people’s bodies. She wants to use her tattoo gift to help supernaturals, to combine her magic and her art to especially help werewolves who struggle to control their wolf side. Violet has been struggling with her attraction to Nico since he stepped foot in New Orleans. Now they are business partners, so even though she knows Nico is also attracted to her, she keeps him in the friend zone. But she isn’t sure how much longer she’s going to be able to deny this chemistry that has been sizzling between them.

I swear, Nico is the most patient man I’ve ever seen. His feelings for Violet are so strong and true, that he’ll wait as long as it takes for her to come to him. For her to realize the possibility of what they can be. But just when they are finally making progress, his old pack from Austin shows up, and it seems like they want to stir up trouble. You haven’t seen anything until you see how a werewolf reacts to someone touching his woman!

Did I say that Nico plays guitar and sings? Did I say that he was walking and talking sex on a stick and he would do anything and everything for Violet? This man/werewolf waited a long time for her to figure things out. He might have finally helped her along a little bit in the end but wow! How could I not love this guy?!

This was a fun addition to this series. I loved seeing more of Evie and Mateo together as well as Izzy and Devraj. We also got to know Livvy and Clara better. How about Violet’s bow tie wearing rooster, Fred? We also get to know a little bit more about the Grims, another kind of supernatural that lives in their community. They are so mysterious but I suspect in coming books, we’ll get to know one particular one of them even better. I’m not sure who it will focus on but the next book in the series, book four, will be Always Practice Safe Hex. I can’t wait to find out more!

Witches Get Stitches

Fun characters and a witchy world that will appeal to those of us who wore out our VHS copies of The Craft; held back by a slow first half and a shallow anti-prejudice ending.

Witches Get Stiches starts strong, with three 16-year-old witches divining on their future loves. This scene immediately puts the world of witches here in touch with a familiar youthful witchy excitement. The book then hops ahead to our now-20 something female lead, Violet, doing some sexy tattooing in a bar in Austin on New Years Eve, when werewolf male lead Nico walks in and begins flirting in limericks and fireworks ensue.

It's exactly the kind of fun, carefree, sexy environment that a 16-year-old witch might imagine for her 20-something self.

The main action of the book is a few years later in New Orleans when Nico shows up, totally smitten. But seer Violet doesn't like what she sees in the cards for them as lovers, and they settle in as business partners with simmering tension.

I also really appreciated a world of witchcraft that uses real witch stuff like tarot cards, aura readings, etc. and the idea of tattoo magic is a lot of fun.

Unfortunately I didn't get a lot of relationship evolution from the establishment of their mutual attraction and Violet’s hesitancy until the middle of the book. Things happen, but to me the core of the book is the relationship between the two characters. With that relationship not advancing or changing or escalating in tension, I found it tough to keep going through that middle part

The book picks up again about halfway through as the heat turns back up, and largely finishes strong. However, there's also a plot thread involving prejudice against werewolves that hit a sour note for me.

The title Witches Get Stiches promises a fundamentally light-hearted book, and the book delivers. But towards the end the characters confront their magical world’s prejudice against werewolves as exceptionally violent.

One problem is that werewolves are also portrayed as historically cursed with an inability to curb their violence--something that the werewolf characters struggle with themselves. So in the magical world of werewolves it's not at all clear that the prejudice is unfounded.

But a more fundamental problem is that a book with this tone is not prepared--nor should it be--to unpack the kinds of deep issues that real prejudice and oppression entail. The characters just seem to sort of agree not to be prejudiced any more, and I think that skips a lot of the difficult work involved in confronting oppression. To me as an American reader living in 2021 as the country is reckoning (or not reckoning) with its real world oppressive structures, a “let’s just not be prejudiced!” ending felt a little hollow.

In relation to those real world oppressions I also have to note that for being set in New Orleans, a city over 60% Black and with a mystical tradition tied in to its Black history, this book doesn't overtly seem to have a lot of evidence of that Blackness. The title, which I admit hits the perfect tone and which drew me in, is also a reference to hip hop culture, which further highlights that absence of overt Blackness. There's a certain “white woman hip hop ukelele cover” energy that some readers might roll their eyes at.

All told, this is a fun and sexy world that I liked spending time in, but some structure issues in the story kept this one from being a bigger hit for me.

This series just gets better & better which I didn’t think possible after the last one!
Nico has patiently waited for Violet after a chance meeting made him realise that she is “the one”.
Violet has different ideas & she is sure he can never be more than a friend after reading her own cards.
They get together to set up a tattoo shop business which means they are together more & the magic is obvious to everyone except them.
Nico has baggage from his old pack & when they come to town looking for Violet it’s just too much for him to bear.
The dialogue is just superb & had me in stitches at times, the other witchy sisters are all back with their partners & friends.
I loved every page & can't wait for the next one!

If you are looking for a book with all the feels and all the angst oh my word search no further. Then follow all that angst with all the steam. I was a little concerned my kindle might ignite. Lol.

Violet is so sassy which is my favorite woman main character. Like so many of us she assumes so much and let’s all her previous baggage get in the way. Oh but Nico is not having any of that. He is the most patient man ever!! And also so swoony and determined. He is gruff on the outside and Michu soft marshmellow on the inside.

Needless to say I am still swooning over here.

Witches Get Stitches by Juliette Cross

‘“I know what we are,” he snapped back, almost viciously. He curled his hands completely around my wrists, squeezing firmly but not to the point of pain. “What we could be,” he growled. “If you’d just let it happen.”’

If you’ve been searching for a perfectly provoking, sumptuous and arousing paranormal romance to sink your teeth into (forgive me, I couldn’t help it) then you need look no further than author Juliette Cross’s absolutely superb Stay A Spell series. Think of it as an x-rated Charmed, except way more lavish, bewitching and definitely much more exhilarating.

Juliette Cross has once again, managed to extract some of that exceptional fictional magic from her supernatural characters, and has used it, to entice, impress and command the attention of her readers from start to finish. She wrangels that magic- otherwise known as talent- infusing every spark of it into her writing, layering it in through the exciting and stand out plot, sewing it into the snappy, sexy and extremely cool dialogue, weaving it into the many different connections- familial, friendly and other. And it’s the ‘other’ that keeps things dynamic and powerful throughout Witches Get Stitches. That push and pull of her hero and heroine, the charisma, the flame that ignites instantaneously between them both, the denying and refuting, the smouldering, sexual tension and sometimes bafflement- it all keeps everything more thrilling, frustrating, edgy and gripping.

I only wish I could be Violet’s level of cool. She was the epitome of awesome. From her hair to her tattoos, to how she saw the world around her, and how she was unapologetic for who she was. She owned every inch of her sass and swagger. The definition of a badass with a heart of gold. I loved that we got to see all sides to her personality. The tough side, the tender side, the confident yet utterly vulnerable aspects. It all made her Violet. Standout, remarkable and unique.

Nico, as our hero, was simply breathtaking. A werewolf, who sings and plays guitar. A man who is equal parts sweet and so damn sexy. He doesn’t want to play games. He’s fairly straightforward, confident, and knows how to go after what and who he wants. That steadfastness and loyalty mixed with the werewolf virility, gruffness and danger is a heady mix for sure. I’m not sure Violet ever stood a chance of resisting.

I was absolutely hooked from that very first New Year’s episode - a wish that we ALL ring in next year just. Like. That - right through to that glorious, happy ending, and everything in between. Juliette has accomplished here what most authors strive to accomplish. She gave readers a glowing, thrill-ride of an opening, and closed it all with a beautiful, dazzling, sigh-with-contentment ending. And in between she gave us suspense, flirtation and heat, a lot of fun and laughter and most importantly, Juliette let us feel like we were part of that world for a little while. Like we were a part of that family. We lived in a world where magic and witches and werewolves and vampires could be real.

I’m super excited for Clara’s story and Jules’. With the heat factor ramping up exponentially, the flow of each arc and the banter and fun to be found in each book, things are only going to get better and better. One thing is for sure, author Juliette Cross does not disappoint.

The third book in the Stay in a Spell Series, Violet and Nico's story is a yet another hilarious yet touching paranormal romance. Despite the heroines belonging to the same family and all being witches, the plots of their books do not feel based on a formula at all, something rare in series stand alones.
Violet and Nico have a chance encounter that spooks one and leaves the other wanting more, when they start collaborating on Violet's tattoo shop is when it gets harder to stay away from each other.
I love how the author didn't make Violet the stereotypical rebellious colour haired, tattoo creating heroine, she's loves her family and supports them in all ways. She's a closeted romantic, waiting for her soulmate.
Similarly Nico is not the dark broody werewolf, he has his dark jealous moments but he gets his love through patience and sensitivity.
The way the author describes the agony werewolves go through, struggling against their violent magic, it made me feel deeply empathetic for these fantasical characters too.
I'm really looking forward to the stories of all the Blackwater Grims, a type of supernatural I've never read about before!

LOVED the insta-chemistry right from that explosive start! But then we spend a good first half of the book in an EXTREMELY slow burn that had me tearing my hair out and wanting to slap Violet so hard! LOL.. but the wait was worth it and I am so happy with the development of the story and it’s funny, witty characters!

Can a werewolf convince an anti-relationship sassy witch to be his mate when she believes it’s not in the cards and there’s trouble in the horizon? Oh did I mention they are business partners and work closely together..

This paranormal romance takes place in New Orleans, where witches, werewolves, vampires and grim reapers all live among each other. Violet a very talented tattoo artist, comes from a powerful family of witches, she’s a Seer. Nico is a werewolf who bides his time for Violet to come around and give them a chance. This is an absolutely sweet and hilarious, friends-to-lovers, slow-burn read. This is the third book in the series. I didn’t read the first two books and I didn’t feel that it was hard for me to catch on. I really enjoyed this book!

So if you know me (even if it is just a little bit) you know I was dying to read this book. Given the year I have been having, meaning, I have been disappointed with mostly everything I read as well as with every release I was afraid of picking this book. However I am extremely happy to announce that this book did not disappoint and if anything overdelivered everything I wanted and needed at this time.

I must say that I am not the biggest fan of Violet, it’s hard to explain, because I love her for he story but I do not love her as much as I love Isadora or Evie. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that I do not think that she and I would be friends, but I love her as a character and I love her story with Nico, whom on the other side, it’s my favorite male lead so far. But my point is that delivering a book I love, even when the main character is definitely not my favorite person it’s brilliant!

I loved the story and how all the events unravel. And I love that little by little we are beginning to see more and more of the supernatural world and its politics. In fact I can’t wait to see how some of the events of this book will affect the future ones.

My favorite thing, definitely is how well developed are the relationships, specially between the sisters. I love to see how they are friends on top of being sisters and how they are always there for each other. Also I love to see Mateo and Nico together as a family as we did not have that big o chance for that on the previous books.

The best thing was not any of the things I mentioned so far. I loved the component of the magic tattoos, and how Violet is using her magic in order to help other supernaturals. I don’t wanna dive too much into it but it was so cool to see all her powers.

I would definitely recommend you to check out this book, and the previos one in the Stay and Spell series if you haven’t yet. They are funny, and have that little bit of spice into the romance that I just love. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series!
