I have enjoyed each of Rachel Scott McDaniel's historical novels and wondered if she could pull off a split-time. You all. She totally did. Typically I have a favorite timeline and I rush through the other to get back to the favorite. But the pacing, the romance, and the mystery in both was spot on. She has a lovely spare style that leaves you with beautiful pictures of the Ohio River, the Belle, and all her main characters without getting bogged down with unhelpful details. If you like mysteries and romance, this is your book!
