Brigitte, a German girl finding a way for herself the big city of New York, when Connor, an American aspiring writer, moves in when Brigitte is looking for a roommate. A love story between roommates overcoming the competing priorities of careers and aspirations and moving past exes and past loves.

It seems to be set in the early 2000s, with references to Nokia phones , CDs and memories shared of East Germany before the wall fell is described by Brigitte, but it is largely a story out of time. It is a story of love in New York, and the city with all its glittering lights, striving workers and opportunity is definitely a bit of a character.

I enjoyed the way the chapters were named after characters or places rather than simply numbered. I am also a fan of only having a single character depicted as the first person narrator - in this book while there are several chapters in the third person, only Connor have first person narration.

This book was unfortunately difficult to get into, the flow of the characters, particularly early on in the story was stilted. Each character is consistent and believable, but the flow of conversation and scene setting was slightly irregular. The pacing of the story was variable and I found that too many supporting characters made it difficult at times to focus on the central romance.

I love romcoms and Female Preffered is a cute romcom that reminds me somewhat of New Girl/Jane The Virgin.

Floyd’s characters were well developed and it was a HEA, however, the writing/story didn’t flow well for me.

Bridgette and Connor meet when she is looking for a flatmate, she lists that it’s a “female preferred” situation, but my guy Connor ends up renting.

This book looked very promising and I was quite excited to read it. Romance is one of my favourite genres and I'm a sucker for rom-com and happy endings, exactly what this book has.
The story started the right way but I have to say the writing was very confusing. The narrator's voice changed so drastically that I had no idea what perspective I was reading from. Also, I'm not sure if it was the format in which I read it or what, but there were many disarranged sentences and misplaced quotations marks making the dialogues even more confusing. This made it really hard for me to connect with the story.
The characters had chemistry but their love story lacked development for me. It seemed that they met and they were already in love, but we don't really get to see the process. It felt a bit shallow.
Even though the narrator's voice makes more sense at the end, it was still a tad weird to read most part of the book.
That said, I really liked the ending, it was very round and the kind of happy ending I love.

A sweet love story. The characters are well developed and they had a very special bond. The perfect amount of steaminess and their chemistry was maintained through the story. I love LOVE!

This is such a sweet love story. Romance is one of my favourite genres and I can say that this was a well done romance. The characters were well developed and they had a very special connection. Their chemistry was off the charts, and the steaminess was a perfect amount. They had instant chemistry, and it was maintained throughout the book.

This book always focuses on other themes, like focusing and careers and balancing personal life with that. It's focuses on friendships, and how they can impact you.

[SPOILER AHEAD] And yes, I love a good happy ending, wrapped up with a bow on top. I love a big gesture moment, and steamy kiss at the end and a time gap to show the happy ending. And we got that.

If you're a fan of Jane The Virgin (especially Jane and Raphael) , you might like this too. And all the Ross and Rachel stans are gonna adore this one. I'd personally love to see this as a movie one day because this is gonna be a perfect rom com

A room mates to lovers story, with a temptation in the shape of the 'most eligible bachelor in town' and some friends thrown in.

The story is created around Brigette who needs to find a room mate after her boyfriend leaves her for someone else and Connor who finds out that the woman he thought he had a long distance relationship with is no longer interested in him hence he can not move in with her when arriving in New York City.

Floyd has created some great characters and it's an enjoyable enough romance story, but it could have been so much better if he had allowed them all to shine. I hope the author is working on some new books to create the stories from the perspectives of Broderick, Tory, Kristie, Richard, Lynn, Thomas, Marc and Elliot.

I found this book difficult to get in to and found that it did not flow very well.
Brigette and Connor meet when she needs a roommate - he gets the room, even though a female was preferred. They become more than roommates but will it last?
