I really hated Lottie. She basically gave up all her hopes and dreams in life for her college boyfriend. And when he dumped her, she just completely gave up. She never put in effort for her LSAT. She took the first job she could and even after working for 7 years had legit nothing to show for it. She completely let herself go, and although she didn’t outright complain, I found her so annoying. She could have done so many things to change her life for the better, but she didn’t at all. I tried really hard to like her throughout the book, but my feelings never changed.

The book was just too much. One of those “anything that can go wrong will” and when that happens every single time, it’s way too much.

Cutthroat. A world where you only as good as your last wedding. Jockeying to stay on top. Lottie absorbs all the drama from her job as an assistant in the dog eat dog world of wedding planning. A lot of time is taken ruminating over which shade of pastel will work best. It had humorous moments, and in the end Lottie has her day.

4-4.25 stars

This was another fun and fairly lighthearted story about self-discovery, romance, and growing up. Unfortunately, some of the protagonist’s worst traits remind me a lot of myself, so even as she was making terrible decisions, it was hard to fully judge or blame her. Thankfully, several specific moments also made me literally laugh out loud, so that balanced out some of the “oh god this is me” feelings. I liked (some of) the characters, the plot, the setting; all in all, this one was a hit for me.

Without a Hitch is a fun, lighthearted coming-of-age story for your mid-20s. It’s about figuring out who you are and what you want out of life when what you thought you wanted is ripped out from under you. As a 27-year-old reader, the feeling of looking around and thinking, “This was not supposed to be my life,” was highly relatable. Some of the relationships in the book felt forced or with no sense of progressing naturally, in my opinion. However, the wedding planning aspect was well done, and the shenanigans were always amusing, if over-the-top.

I was really looking forward to reading this book as the blurb made this book sound right up my street. Unfortunately it fell a little bit flat.

The main character was whiny & a bit meh & there was far too much unnecessary & repetitive details regarding the weddings. Sadly not one I would recommend

Thank you to Harper Muse via NetGalley for giving me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

So when I read the book description on Goodreads saying it was Sweet Home Alabama meets Emily in Paris. I was dying to get my hands on a copy, as I love both the film and show very much. I have to say I was really disappointed. I didn't feel and romance or rom-com vibes at all.

Our MC Lottie Jones has her who life planned out in front to her, to be married blissfully to her high school sweetheart, living happily ever after. When this doesn't happen and she gets dumped Lottie decides to become a wedding planner and bags a dream job at a top-tier boutique event firm.

To be honest the book was just too far fetched for me, I got half way thought and just thought what is happening?! there was so much going on but not really a story line, I just felt the book was all over the place. In fact very chaotic but not necessarily in a rom-com way as the synopsis led me to believe. It became very repetitive and just dragged.

Would possibly read something else by the author but this one really wasn't for me, and sadly I wanted to love it after seeing the beautiful cover and reading the similarities to shows I love.

Without a Hitch by Mary Hollis Huddleston and Asher Fogle Paul is a standalone contemporary romantic comedy novel. In this novel the main character is a wedding planner working on planning he ex’s wedding.

Lottie Jones had spent her time at college dreaming of her future instead of actually studying for her future. Lottie had dreams of marrying her boyfriend, Brody, then she would be a lawyer and he play professional football after they had the wedding of Lottie’s dreams already planned to the last detail.

Well, that future didn’t quite happen for Lottie when instead of engaging Brody broke things off which spiraled into Lottie failing her exams. After a couple of years Lottie has lucked into a job that seems perfect for what she actually did study in college, wedding planning. However, Lottie’s biggest test as a wedding planner will be making it through Brody’s wedding with someone else.

Without a Hitch by Mary Hollis Huddleston and Asher Fogle Paul was the type of novel that when finished I came away thinking it either needed more or less or perhaps a bit of both. First, while I appreciate that Lottie’s life is now all weddings it seemed to get a bit repetitive. Then as far as the romance it seemed lacking and I wondered why it was there at all really and not just be about the character’s own growth but since it was romance I’d have felt better to have more of it. Overall though this one just became an OK read from me when done.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

Thank you to the publisher for my review copy. All opinions are my own.

Alright. This appeared to be the perfect title for me....
*Southern
*Weddings
*Romance
Sadly, it was just meh. The writing style and premise was very good. It seemed to go well until...I just kinda lost interest. Am I able to pinpoint why? No, not really. It went on for quite a while. It seemed to have an unnecessary love triangle. At the end of the day. I'm not sorry I read it. I'm also thinking this will not be a title that I reach for when asked to recommend a Romance.

Unfortunately Without A Hitch was a difficult read for me, I found it to be very slow paced and difficult to get into. I felt no connection to the main characters and it felt like a bit of a chore for me to ready :(

I actually got Bridget Jones vibes from this book as well as Sweet Home Alabama and Emily in Paris but nonetheless, I loved this book!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC which I received in return for an honest review.

Lottie is a twenty-something wedding planner in Dallas who isn’t quite sure how she got where she is. She once dreamed about being a lawyer and marrying her football-player boyfriend - she even reserved the chapel on campus! - but those dreams ended when he dumped her before graduation and she failed the LSATs. When it’s announced her high-profile boss is going to open a second location in Atlanta, Lottie has big dreams of being the woman to lead the new group. But can she get ahead in the sometimes cutthroat world of wedding and event planning?

This book was pretty good for a debut. I was disappointed that once again a single, successful twenty something was constantly asked when she was going to find a boyfriend or get married or have babies or “get a real job.” The time jumps weren’t very clear and one side character, Matt, was pretty unnecessary.

Thank you to the authors, publisher, and NetGalley for the ARC!

Ireally enjoyed this book, it is a light easy read and jam packed with beautiful over the top weddings. I used to love looking through bridal magazines and had my own dreams of being an architect so I can appreciate the beautiful locations throughout this book.

Lottie Jones went off to college with a dream of being a lawyer and all was going well till she feel head over heels in love with Brody Stevens. He was handsome and ambitious but knew he had to work hard to earn a starting spot on the football team. In sophomore year Lottie’s sorority sister got married at the on campus chapel and knowing it needed to be booked long in advance Lottie picked the perfect date for her and Brody between graduation and the NFL draft … only come graduation Brody did not propose, in-fact he decided they should go their separate ways as she was no longer the driven, ambitious girl he had fallen for.

I am not usually a big fan of girls giving up on their futures for the sake of chasing a boy, however that does not make this an uncommon occurrence. Having spent more time planning her wedding than studying (and failing the LSAT) she gave up on becoming a lawyer and instead got a job with a florist. This is where we met Lottie, 7 years later, the company she worked for had been acquired by Cedric Montclair Celebrations, 𝘵𝘩𝘦 event and wedding planning company of Dallas, aka. 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙁𝙞𝙧𝙢. I honestly think Lottie made a good choice here. It didn’t seem to me she was really ready to commit to law school, perhaps this was more her parents dream than her own. She seems to truly enjoy wedding planning and by all measures is quite skilled at it.

I wouldn’t necessarily classify this book as a romance though there is some sprinkled it, more like a journey of self-discovery. We follow Lottie from being a junior planner as she works her way up the ladder within the company. I loved all the weddings, they were described in such detail and you could really envision just how stunning these high profile weddings could truly be. Through the planning we meet an assistant photographer Griffin who seems exactly Lotties type only problem is he is not looking for a relationship and certainly doesn’t want to get married … again. We also meet Matt who seems like he would be everything Lottie is looking for, handsome, successful and looking to settle down. Things get really interesting when all 3 men all end up in the same location.

There were some laugh out loud moments throughout this book and having watched enough reality TV I don’t doubt any one of them could be based off true events. It felt like 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘋𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘭 𝘞𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘴 𝘗𝘳𝘢𝘥𝘢 and 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘞𝘦𝘥𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘗𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘳 all rolled into one. At the beginning I struggled a little to figure out where this story was going. It seemed like it could easily have been a delightful RomCom where Lottie ended up finding her happily ever after which is what I had initially expected. However, I am actually glad that we see how she makes a mistake that so many people, especially girls make which is trying to fit themselves into a box because it is what is expected of them. Be that the boy they are trying to impress of the pressure put on them by parents to become who they envisioned they would grow up to be. At the end of this book I feel like Lottie learned from her past mistakes and is starting down the path towards what makes her happy.

It took me some time to get into the book but it had an engaging story. I felt like the chapters weren't divided well and there was a lot of unnecessary information. The book would have been better if it was a bit shorter. I still liked it and it is definitely a 3 star for me.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a nice, light read. Lottie works at a top tier event company and the book is full of lots of elaborate weddings including some crazy mishaps. There is a romance but it's a smaller part of the story. A lot of it is just fun as she figures out what she wants in her life and career and deals with various challenges.

Overall, a nice, fun read.

Funny and easy to read as it is really a collection of amusing anecdotes as much as it is a story as a whole. There are some really quirky characters and hilarious situations which I am sure will make you laugh.

Disappointing book. Unfortunately, this novel doesn’t quite live up to the description. I really struggled with it and wasn’t sure at all.

While I do enjoy reading romances because they keep my brain happy, a romance about a southern wedding planner definitely isn't exactly what I'd call my cup of tea. But I did judge this book by the cover and thought it looked cute so I went for it. Surprisingly, it was still mostly enjoyable even though I did not relate to the protagonist in most ways!

The protagonist plans out her entire wedding to her college boyfriend while they're still in college, and shocker - he never proposed and he breaks up with her, using the excuse that they want different things in life (he's off to the NFL and she should not be content to tag along but should have her own life instead, although are we sure the break up wasn't because she did something like of wild like plan their entire wedding before even discussing marriage?). Protagonist becomes a wedding planner professionally. And eventually she becomes involved in planning her ex-boyfriend's wedding!

That part was pretty fun. I wasn't really a fan of romance as there wasn't much of it to speak of and basically no chemistry between protagonist and her love interest. While the plot was quite enjoyable, especially the various wedding planning hijinks that were described, the romance part flagged a good bit. Overall, a lighter read with little romance but lots of funny anecdotes about weddings!

I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. I'm not sure that the author knew what the point of this story was and for that, it seemed to lack the focus of writing. The concept was great, but the story, not so much.

I think I wanted to like this book more than I actually did. It was cute, but a little underwhelming in the end.

I liked the wedding planner aspect - it was fun to get a peek into the behind the scenes of fancy weddings. I also liked the subplot of all the little things that start going wrong and Lottie trying to figure out what is happening.

I wasn’t a huge fan of the romance aspect of this book - it fell flat for me. I think this book was supposed to be about Lottie figuring out what it is she wants out of life now that her original plans fell through, but the authors bring up a couple of love interests and then nothing really happens.

In the end this was a cute book, I just wanted a little more.

This book is pretty low-key, not necessarily in a good way. I didn't really want to finish it. There were many lulls of excitement in the plot, but I did power through and end up finishing the book. It was just okay for me. Thank you to NetGalley and Harper Muse for a copy of this book for an honest review.
