This cute and quirky read tells a version of Dracula’s life in the form of him reminiscing to his grandchildren while babysitting. We hear about his adventures with the Yeti, the Invisible Man, and a werewolf, among others. This is a cute monster story that’s not too scary for kids.

A thrilling and lovely gothic book, full of cute vampire babies and a vampire grandpa who is left to take care of the younger ones. One by one the grandchildren learn about the thrilling life of their grandfather and of the friends he had during his youth. Among these friends we encounter some non human characters like a yeti, werewolf, and arachnid and even the famous Van Helsing. The illustrations were so funny and full of details only adding more value to the entire story.

This is such a fun and engaging chapter book with whimsical and hilarious illustrations throughout. Each chapter details a new monster friendship and history as grandfather Vlad retells the stories of his life to his three young grandchildren. Weaving together other classic stories to the tale such as Sherlock Holmes or King Kong and a plethora of other famous and historically significant persons. It definitely helps going into the story knowing a little monster history though (especially who Van Helsing is, or what a catacomb is, etc).

It’s a very charming story but probably a little too dense for younger readers to sit through in one go. It does lend itself to making a great bedtime story when read one chapter at a time. Some things will definitely go over little readers heads but are much appreciated by an adult reader like myself. There are so many little tidbits of history that are turned on their head and made into monstrously fun alt-history. There are also sweet little tidbits about pursuing passions and blocking out hateful comments.

Overall it is a wonderfully fun book for the whole family!

This is an adorable children's book about a family of Vampire bats, specifically, THE Count Dracula and his grandchildren. The artwork on the cover drew me in but the story is what kept me reading for me. I absolutely loved all the extra art through out the book and would want to own a physical copy for this exact reason.

This was an adorable little foray into weirdness. Honestly, if you like what you see, you'll probably love it! If it looks weird, well, you'll probably feel that way, too!!

This is an adorable children's book that paints the standard monsters in a friendly and lovable light. The story is told by Dracula (drawn as a fluffy cute bat) who is entertaining his grandchildren with stories from his very long and and eventful life. The story encourages children to question their assumptions and stereotypes and poses the question as to what makes a monster. "Somehow, there's a little monster inside each of us..."

An enjoyable story aimed at young children who are ready for very short chapter style books.

five stars.

What an absolute delight of a Book especially if you love anything Gothic & Tales of Mythical Creatures such as Vampire's , Werewolves , Invisible Men dressed as Mummy's, Van Helsing & others . It is the most delightful way to bring all these amazing Fictional characters to the attention of young children in the least scary of ways , so I will be highly recommending this amazing Book to all my friends as the best gift they can buy & read to their grandchildren .#FB, #Instagram, #GoodReads,# Netgalley, #Amazon.co.uk, #<img src="https://www.netgalley.com/badge/c566f42be23a0e25d120e78a3454e2d427c4beee" width="80" height="80" alt="50 Book Reviews" title="50 Book Reviews"/>, #<img src="https://www.netgalley.com/badge/ef856e6ce35e6d2d729539aa1808a5fb4326a415" width="80" height="80" alt="Reviews Published" title="Reviews Published"/>, #<img src="https://www.netgalley.com/badge/aa60c7e77cc330186f26ea1f647542df8af8326a" width="80" height="80" alt="Professional Reader" title="Professional Reader"/>.

What an absolutely adorable book! Dracula entertains his grandchildren with tales of his past, encounters he has had, over his long life, with other monsters. A quirky writing style that bounces between the tale and the children interrupting for clarification or more details, in the exact way children do. The relationship between Dracula and his grandchildren was wholesome and pure.

The illustrations were a delight! Beautifully drawn and colored the pictures enhance the reading and each tale. Some of the scenes had me laughing (the selfies) and the illustrations were spot on and only served to increase the laughter.

My daughter (8) has asked that we read it again tonight! If it convinces my child to read, I'm sold!

I had the pleasure of receiving this book in print/eARC, thank you SO much to Arctis Books for sending me a copy for an honest review.

The author does a wonderful making Dracula amonder day father. The illustration are vibrant and brings the story to life. This is an interesting spin on count Dracula. Imagine the count babysitting while keeping a close eye Van Helsin who is always coming up with new ways to catch him. A fun read.

Once upon a time there was an elderly bat whose crafty wife forced him to spend time with his grandchildren. Having never really dealt with his own children, he found himself ill-equipped to deal with young bats. And so he did what what so many bats in his situation would do – he enthralled them. That is, he enthralled him with tales of his long past. And so begins the memoirs of Count Dracula, had Count Dracula been an old bat who was forced to spend time with his young heirs.

The tie-ins to myths and legends in Jochen Til’s Memento Monstrum are cute, leading us to believe that many of the stories we tell were merely mistakes and that the monsters they feature are just as fallible as the rest of us. Simple drawings accompany the text, though you won’t see anything as vibrant and appealing as the cover. Skip this as a read-aloud, but it is a good book for precocious readers looking for age suitable early chapter books.

I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.

Memento Monstrum is a children's book about count Dracula who has been given the task of babysitting his grandchildren. When the children discover an old photo album he sits and goes through some of the photographs with them and recounts stories of these times with the children. I loved the banter between them and found parts of the book very funny.
Each of the stories he tells them is a chapter in the book so would be perfect to read at bedtimes and the illustrations are fantastic and actually quite cute.
The monsters and creatures Vlad tells the mini vampires about are all fantastically scripted into the book.
I really enjoyed this and found it very different!

This book was horrifically cute. I love horror - especially anything to do with monsters. And I especially love it when people find new ways to introduce these monsters into children's fiction. The illustrations in this were my favourite part. They were adorable and so much fun to look at and I kept wishing that there were more of them.

The story (or stories) are also cute and I really like how many classic monsters are in them and the twists that author Jochen Til brought to their stories. I do wish we got to spend more time with Dracula figuring out just how he's supposed to look after his grandchildren before the storytelling started. Maybe some more parallels between those stories and his grandchildren would have been cute too. I do like the twist on Van Helsing in this story but I wish more was done with it.

All in all a super quick and fun read for monster lovers and everyone else alike!

This book was super quick and a lot of fun to read through. It was a cute story about a Dracula and his grandchildren, who come to stay with him for a night. When they make their way to the library Dracula’s photo album falls from the shelves and the stories begin.

This story was just a pure and awesome tale about a grandfather sharing his life with his grandkids but having a spin on it by sharing stories about vampires, vampire hunters, yetis, big spiders, and so many other creatures of the mystical horror genre.

I will definitely be picking this book up when it comes out to read to my little brother and my nanny kids for Halloween.

The only issue I had was that some of the paragraphs were out of order and sentences were mixed up so I had to figure out where they were meant to be from the middle point on ever few pages.

Thank you to NetGalley for the E-ARC for an honest review.
