This was so much fun! The characters were likable, nice people that were easy to cheer for. The author did a wonderful job of making a story that was light but not insubstantial. The characters had their issues to overcome, but they worked through them like kind, mature adults and didn't devolve into unnecessary drama.

The story was blessedly free of insta-love. Instead, the relationship grew steadily and naturally and included lots of fun banter and joking. I'm going to be chuckling at Science Barbie and Football Ken for quite a while! There was definitely chemistry between the couple, but their physical relationship was described fairly obliquely (I'd say PG-13ish). I wouldn't blush suggesting this to my mom.

There were a couple of plot threads introduced that could have been expanded on more (the interview with the neuroscientist and her somewhat prejudicial reaction to the main characters' relationship, the implications of the huge, huge career decision the male MC made, Josh & Mason, etc.) but the core story felt complete and satisfying. I wound up reading this way faster that I intended because it was just so darn enjoyable. I'd heartily recommend checking it out!

A note: there are many, many instances of UK/Commonwealth English in the book, even though the story is set in America, about Americans. It didn't detract from my enjoyment, but it's kind of like listening to a symphony and realizing the triangle player is off the beat. It doesn't ruin it, by any means...but you notice.

Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for letting me read this book.
I was pleasantly surprised by this book. The characters themselves and the relationship development are probably what I enjoyed the most. They definitely had good banter and chemistry. There weren't any majorly traumatic events for them to break up over, and all in all, it was fun to read. I think what I liked most, was that the book was exactly what it said it was, an opposites attract romance, and it delivered.
Unfortunately I had to take half a star off for the initial intimate scene as it was quite rushed and not very descriptive.
4.5 stars

This was quite sweet. I don’t know that I believed that two people who had so little in common could have a long-lasting love affair, but it’s nice to imagine that a science nerd and a professional NFL quarterback could find true love. What Megan and Brandon have in common is insecurities stemming from feeling out of place in their families. Megan’s family is sports crazy and didn’t understand her love of science. A bad experience in high school and totally turned her off from football. So finding a roommate who is also a science/tech nerd seemed perfect except for his obnoxious jock brother who was always hanging around their apartment.

Brandon had his own insecurities from feeling the odd person out realizing that t in his family full of science/engineering nerds. He felt stupid and inferior to his younger brother despite being a multi-millionaire popular QB.

Megan and Brandon move from snarky sniping at each other to coming to appreciate each other’s core personalities. I enjoyed their snappy dialogue the slow romance that develops between the two of them.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.

Loved this book, the story of Megan and Brandon, who meet when she becomes rommates with Brandon's brother Josh.

At first Megan is drawn to Josh, they have so much in common, but the more time she spends with Brandon the more she likes him too.
Brandon loves that Megan doesn't know who he is, giving them a chance to get to know each other. He has always struggled with not being as smart as the rest of his family, but that doesn't seem to matter to Megan.

Will they have a chance or are they too different?

Thank you netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I thought this was a sweet, romantic, opposites attract novel. Megan moves in with a guy who is so much like her and then discovers he has a famous brother who embodies everything she has tried to stay away from: football. I love the funny, snarky banter between Brandon and Megan. Their friendship develops organically and you can gradually see how they come to see each other as more than friends. I love that Brandon isn't intimidated by her intelligence and falls for the person that challenges and likes him for himself not his career.
