I am a HUGE Beatles fan, and a big graphic novel fan, so I was very excited to read about the Underground Velvet. I’ve heard some of their songs, but this book made me listen to more.

The illustrations were simple, which works perfectly with the complicated characters. Each member of the band was easy to both love and hate.

This book was a quick read for me, and I throughly enjoyed it. It made me laugh, shake my head, and ponder my existence many times.

I would definitely recommend this book to any original rock and roll fan. I absolutely learned a lot about the Velvet Underground and enjoyed listening to more of their music.

I loved the pink vibe for this graphic novel, but that was it. This was kind of boring and I had to dnf it.
I tried to continue time and again but just wasn’t into the story.

This was a fascinating comic. I have listened to some of the VU with Nico in that past, but did not know much about the band itself. This comic was entertaining, short, and pretty unique.

My biggest problem is that the online version is INCREDIBLY hard to read. I had to scroll in a super-specific way or else would be skipped which DEFINITELY took away from the overall reading experience.

I would recommend this book, but only as a paperback

As a person who streams a lot of Velvet Underground music, I (sadly) didn't know much about the band's history. The graphic novel featured some pretty amazing art, and tells their story in a unique way. If you'll excuse me, I'm off to listen to The Velvet Underground & Nico (again.)

A graphic novel about the history and the making of The Velvet Underground -- a tremendously fun and quick read. I already knew most of the history but not all! I was amazed how much information was packed in to this book! The drawings were fantastic depictions of the band and Andy Warhol. Visually this book was very appealing. It is translated from the French and definitely has a French comic book feel -- including inside jokes and humor.

If you are a fan of comic books, Lou Reed, Andy Warhol, John Cale or just want to learn more about them- I highly recommend this very enjoyable read!

This was a nice read, it was slow at times, but nice overall. Nothing revolutionary, just a story about a band. Lou Reed making everyone cry was so bad that it was hilarious!

Black and white and magenta all over, this does exactly what it says on the tin. Which means it's a basic revision for those who know the story, and painful for anyone else – Warhol is a tosser and no mistake, the two-by-three gutterless grid of the design is nowhere near as revolutionary as it thinks it is, and too many people speak in the language called Exposition and not anything connected to how real people talk. The uninitiated will find nothing at all successful in making you want to listen to their dross 'music', either. Two stars, and most of that is for how the banana sleeve was brought in with a rare comedic touch.

I enjoyed this book a lot , especially the illustrations in it . The story did get kinda borimg according to me , especially the first half . But their music is genuinly amazing , so i am teally grateful that i read this book .

The book become a little clearer to me on the last page when I realised it had been translated into English. The dialogue and descriptions sometimes felt stilted and I wonder if it's been let down there unfortunately.

Still some snazzy art and a few recognisable VU stories and of course, of course it has that very famous and very apt Eno quote.

This was a really fun read! I love the Velvet Underground and it was fun to see and read their background in such a colorful and easy to read way. I really enjoyed the art and color palette. The dialogue was witty and quick. I think this book is a great way to introduce people to Lou Reed as well as the music and art scene of the time, but also for die hard fans!

With so many strong personalities involved its hard to get a true story of the band The Velvet Underground, princely egos and pharmaceuticals tend to make history lean toward particular views. Prosperi Buri, writer and artist, tries in his graphic retelling of the beginnings of the band in The Story of the Velvet Underground,
published by Europe Comics. In some ways he succeeds, in others he leaves the reader wanting to know more.

The artwork is interesting, some might say a much too bright for a band who wore sunglasses at night, whose dark lyrics and music were to become so influential. However the artwork carries the story along well, the characters are all clear and identifiable. Some might say its a tad sparse, but this is a story of a band not a graphic adventure, so I think the art is fitting.

The story is a brief, from just before the band's formation, introducing a young Lewis Reed, till older wiser and burned out Lou leaves, with brief epilogue featuring the Moe Tucker and John Cale characters. Nothing really shocking or new, just the same story retold in comic form, with some editing.

This is a very quick, fascinating comic that documents the story and emergence of The Velvet Underground!

As an old fan of the band and not knowing too much on the origins of the band forming, I found this comic super interesting! I definitely think this book is targeted to those that enjoy the band and their music. It was super fast paced, comedic at times and enjoyable. Though the illustration style wasn't my favourite.

I will be honest I hadn't heard about the Velvet Underground before this. But reading this in it's entirety didn't make me want to learn any more either.

It overall felt incredibly slow, I have never had 90 pages drag on for so long. But there was little of interest happening in the story either.

If I could go back I'd say they should have made this one of the like 6x6 books with one panel on each page because with it's current layout it feels like there is a ton on each page with it varying with somewhere between 2 and 6 panels the lack of consistency doesn't make it any easier to get into a flow of reading it either.

This was a weird, yet interesting book. As someone who grew up listening to music from this time, and lots of classic rock, it was cool to read about. I had not known that Andy Warhol did anything with music.

A unique use of color, image, and blank space makes for an intriguing graphic novel experience; and an enjoyable story.

A unique way to delve into the complex background of a band who influenced generations of musicians to grab their dreams despite their own lack of prosperity.

I liked the design choice of restricting the colours, this was very eye-catching. The artwork was, like some of the group’s music, a bit hit & miss, but I did really like the drawings of John Cale. Whilst not a massive fan of the band, I have a passing knowledge of their history so was curious at what events this would cover, and I even learned a few things. Overall, it was a fair to middling experience that was a welcome distraction from the world around me. It may appeal more to die-hard fans of the band, though, who have more invested in the fandom.

I like the coloring, but not particularly the artsyle. It wasn’t that interesting, maybe someone who is actually a fan might enjoy this. Skimmed through it cuz it didnt catch my interest lol

I read the blurb and saw the cover and I was like yes! But... I feel like something got lost in translation because I couldn't find it interesting enough to like it more.
The art style looks very the new Yorker which I loved with the pink but that wasn't enough for me to like it more.
