This is a very fast and easy read. I loved that there's just enough tension and little angst in this book, it made me enjoy the reading experience. I also loved the fact that the author is very well-researched and tried to incorporate real-life events into the story. I would definitely want to read her other highland romance books and I can't wait to have another comfort read from her.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The author brings the sights, sounds, and passions of medieval Scotland to vivid life. The lush description of the backdrop is usurped only by the unforgettable characters that are carefully brought to life. This was a decadent tale of loss, treachery, and the redemptive power of love.
Authur, a knight under Robert the Bruce, is rewarded the keep and lands of Rhona’s ancestral home. He is handsome, brave, and intelligent. His heart has always belonged to Rhona. Rhona cannot surrender her belief that the allegiance of her clan comes first, even above love. She deceives and nearly destroys the only man she has ever loved. Allegiances and deceit endanger the couple’s fragile connection. Authur and Rhona must learn to trust each other and adjust their priorities to ensure that their love survives. The couple was written with love and care. The backdrop of the warring factions gave an edge and believability to the story. Both Authur and Rhona are solid and earnest, having complete faith in their loyalties. The battle for allegiance is captivating and, at times, heart-breaking. The couple’s love is fragile, and they have to strive to make it work. I enjoyed the complexity and natural feel of the characters. Their emotions and actions were believable and genuine.
The plot was fast and well-paced. The push and pull between the couple were perfect. The lush background of the story supported the beautiful dialogue. The story was an immersive trip through medieval Scotland. Forged in mistrust, the couple’s fragile love was believable and emotional. This was a beautiful gem of a book.
Highland Beast is the third book in The King’s Outlaws series. These gritty, sensual stories breathe life into the time of Robert the Bruce. These medieval romances are rich in history and full of emotion. I love this time and have, fortunately of late, had the opportunity to read more about this fascinating time in history. Although a love story at heart, the tale entices you with intrigue, action, and adventure. Each scene was lovingly written with careful precision and passion for the period. I could tell the author had done her homework, blending history and fiction splendidly. This is an electric, exciting book!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book through Netgalley and the publisher. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is a good romance between two people with different loyalties – one to the Scottish king and the other to her clan. Their love had spanned many years that saw them torn apart, and they had to overcome both their opposing loyalties and the will of others amid the changes the years brought.

Robert the Bruce battles for an independent Scotland and peace. He appoints Sir Arthur Campbell as the constable of Dunstaffnage castle. Alexander MacDougall, Lord Lyon, escaped Dunstaffnage to avoid battle and being inprisoned in his own castle, leaving his grand niece, Rhona to face the Bruce and his army. The last person she expected to see is the man who broke her heart seven years ago, Arthur Campbell. Arthur hasn't stopped loving Rhona, even though he knew she was married. Now a widow, Rhona tries to guard her heart, but resists with conflicting loyalty. Arthur plans to woo and gain back her love. What happens when he finds out she betrayed him? I wouldn't mind Arthur as my knight in shining armour. Not a simple love story, but has a simple solution for an HEA.

I received an Arc copy of this book and chose to post this review

I always enjoy reading this author's wonderful stories and this one is no exception. I love the Highlands as the background for any story and a second chance romance just reels me right in! Well written and well researched.
In the time of Robert the Bruce, the clans of Scotland see themselves being taken over but it's all in the name of peace and freedom. When Arthur, one of the Bruce's knights, is sent to claim a certain castle, he finds himself face to face with Rhona, his sweetheart from years ago. Due to some misunderstandings, she has never forgiven him for leaving her all those years ago and will do anything to sabotage his taking over her home. Both characters are very likeable and you will find yourself cheering on their romance:) This story is very strong on loyalty which will be pushed to the boundaries.
I received an ARC of this book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Arthur and Rhona are on opposite sides. This is a problem throughout the book. I could tell that Thomas is torn between her feelings for Arthur and her duty to family and country. Arthur is very patient and fair. I enjoyed reading, Highland Beast, very much.
