tbh I was skeptical about "Declutter Like a Mother". There are so many decluttering, home organization, organize your life type books out there. But I was pleasantly surprised! It was written in a way that was very easy to read and gave a lot of practical tips. Most of the tips weren't rocket science, but after reading them, I was shocked that I didn't think of them myself! I love that it doesn't push minimalism, but gives you permission to get rid of unnecessary stuff.

Thank you NetGalley for this ARC!

I’ve followed Allie Casazza on social media for awhile. Having this book was wonderful because it meant that I was able to have an assortment on her tips and tricks and info on hand vs scrolling and getting lost on SM.

I've followed Allie Casazza for years and have spent a disgusting amount of money on her courses, so I was looking forward to her first book. However, I didn't find enough in-depth advice to warrant more than 3 stars. She glosses over the subject of decluttering almost as a way to funnel readers into her overpriced courses (which also, by the way, only cover the most basic subjects). There are hundreds of books on this topic, many of them better.

I overall enjoyed this one, especially the writer's voice. She was so motivating throughout and made this an overall enjoyable read.

Buuuut, I was more than 30% of the way in and she still hadn't given any advice on decluttering. It took a while to finally get started and, once it did, nothing was particularly life changing.

I appreciated the motivation of it all, though. Even if at times it was dragging on too long.

I love books on home and "stuff" management, came across Allie on Facebook, and started to follow her. I was lucky to get a review copy of her book from NetGalley. This is a very positive, flexible approach to decluttering your home that focuses on moms.

Core concepts are taking ownership, having a sense of abundance, ruthless "editing of your space," and defining the intent of all rooms in your home. I loved how flexible Allie is in her approach (no hardcore minimalist rules here), and how she recommends only 30 minutes per day.

But the most important thing is to differentiate between organizing and decluttering lol. Organizing is just finding better ways to store, stack and manage your many possessions. Decluttering is editing down your belongings to serve an intentional purpose that brings you joy, peace and happiness in your life. It only took me 4 decades or so to get this message lol.

The book gives a basic intro and then goes room by room on how to best tackle it and manage the common pitfalls. Although much of the material in the book I have read before, I'm giving it 4.5-stars in support of a female business owner who has made a success of herself.

Casazza writes a witty and informative book about decluttering and minimalism. She has a great sense of humor and helps the reader identify the types of tasks that will help streamline ones home. A very thorough book on both decluttering and minimalism.

Decluttering and getting your house back in order starts with the foundational decision of setting an intention for the space. Allie shares that by starting at the "intention" level, we will be more focused to follow through on the decluttering when it gets hard. A few big takeaways for me from this book: gifts are just gifts and we don't have to hold onto them, use them, or keep them out of obligation. Involve your kids in the process when you are decluttering their things. Overall this was a practical and useful guide to decluttering your house meant to be read while you conquer the task.

After deciding I wanted to go on a Minimal journey a year and a half ago. I thought this would be the perfect read as I too am also a mother. I did find this book informative as a parent struggling to minimize or "declutter". I would be interested in reading other minimal style books written for this author, Over all, I rated this book a 3 star book and will reference it along my decluttering journey.

This book was so helpful in organizing my house! I’m about to go through it again because the clutter has gotten out of control! The writing style is engaging and it’s full of tips for decluttering. Highly recommend.

This was recommended to me by a patron. I have OCD and love to declutter so it was right up my alley.

While I liked the suggestions and tips found in this book, the author’s tone and examples were condescending. I found myself annoyed and rolling my eyes several times throughout the book, which took away from me being able to enjoy the content.

I have appreciated Allie’s work and perspective. I just did not feel like this book added too much beyond what she has shared on other platforms. I can see this being very helpful for those who have not listened to any of her work before.

I was so excited to read this book, as my post-lockdown home has become quite chaotic. I was looking for helpful tips on how to conquer the mess. Unfortunately, that is not what this book is.

Part business plug, part parental/body shaming - I was left with nothing but a nasty taste in my mouth. In regards to the actual decluttering tips: there's nothing new or particularly inspiring discussed. It all felt very generic and lackluster.

The way the author talks gives off "I'm better than you" vibes and the constant referring to the reader comes across very condescending.

I believe this book was written for those who are already fans of Allie. There is nothing here for those just looking for decluttering guidance.

I received this book on netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

I liked this book because I liked Allie, she talks like she’s your best friend who is letting you in on a big secret so you can sit back with more space and more time to relax in and enjoy your home. She may not be telling you anything you don’t already know but she tells you in a different, more inspirational way that make you want to get started right away with gusto!

I'm sure many would find this book helpful, especially if you're overwhelmed with clutter and don't know where to begin. If you're not new to decluttering, there might not be much for you in this book.

* I received a digital ARC from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

This book fits in with life and I think that is really where Allie shines through in her teachings. This is not a one fits all lifestyle approach it has ideas and concepts that can work for all different life circumstances. Allie has this non judgmental way of holding your hand and guiding you through. Her book makes decluttering not a daunting task but an achievable goal which I think many minimalist fail at. She is a mother and with that comes a different approach to this and Allie truly hits it out of the park. I cannot recommend this book enough. If you’re feeling like you are drowning in “stuff” and you dint know where to even start THIS IS YOUR RESCUE BOAT, your saving grace. Thank you Allie!

I have been a long time follower of Allie's podcast and have purchased several of her courses. I liked the book as it was familiar to advice she has provided in her courses. I wish that there would have been a little bit more new content but overall it was good.

Allie Casazza is an excellent writer! She's very engaging, and the introduction in the book hooks your interest. Then she proceeds to cheer you on before launching into program. She does mention the online classes that she offers, and you can sign up for a discount if you need accountability. She takes you through it step-by-step, and has you taylor the sorting according to your family's needs and desires. I have taken before pictures, and will be taking after pictures of my home. I can't wait to see the difference!

I was completely taken aback by the brilliance of this book! Allie provides an enthusiastic and concise description of how organizing can help to reduce mental stress and make the home a more pleasant place. Each chapter is crafted with great care and precision, and it's clear that Allie has a wonderful knack for making the process of de-cluttering simple and straightforward. If you're looking for ways to lighten your load and find more order in your life, then this book is definitely something you should consider getting! Not only does it provide invaluable lessons on how to manage clutter, but it also offers thoughtful insights into the importance of living a balanced life.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the chance to read this book. Like many books of this type, it did not need to be this many pages. There is a 7-page acknowledgments section and many pages in the back of stories from her community of other declutterers.
