Thank you to netgalley for allowing me to read books ad give critical feedback to authors and publishers. Thank you to the author and publisher for allowing me to read the eARC of this book.

Apologies for the late review of this book.

This seemed to pique my interest with the back story and the world built in this book. I don't know how I feel about this book I liked some and disliked some so I am caught in between in this book.

Oh man! This book gave me all the feels!

Think All The Bright Places meets Ready Player One… only this Journey isn’t one you can just get off!

The idea that you can overcome or at least learn coping mechanisms for depression through virtual reality is such a fascinating concept in itself.
The story is original and thought provoking. It reels you in and slaps you in the face! The characters are well developed and relatable which can be hard in a setting like this!

Within The Ward certainly doesn’t lack in plot twists!!!

I would have loved more details about each level but purely cause it was just so fascinating! And a book leaving you wanting more is never a bad thing! 4.5 stars from me!

Thanks to the publisher for providing an eARC of Within the Ward in exchange for an honest review.

I was really worried about this one when I started it, but it far exceeded my expectations. Dystopian books that deal with mental health are almost always anti-establishment which in turn, often means they come off as anti-medication or anti-therapy (which is, you know, I dangerous message to press at your teen audience) but Within the Ward takes a much healthier, much more informed look at how those with mental health issues and ideations are currently treated and how that may progress into a dystopian future.

Beyond following through responsibly and importantly on it's real world tie-ins and themes, the videogame-like treatment plan and cast of unique characters also makes this enjoyable from an entertaining standpoint. I do think the opening (especially when we're introduced to the rest of the patients) could have been a little tidied up for clarity's sake, but this was all in all really well done.

I'm not really sure why I can't seem to find any information anywhere about Within the Ward. Not even on Goodreads. While I like the premise, I'm temporarily setting this book down because it isn't currently drawing my attention. I would like to pick it up again and/or possibly do a promotional post about it if I'm able to find more information.

Thank you for the review opportunity.
