If You Feel This Way Then Grab This Book!

As I read through this God brought so much through my mind. I can look back and see through some very traumatic times how God held my head above the waters of some deep pits…

Sally uses scripture and her own heart to take you on a journey through this book. It is one I had to sit and ponder a lot. I didn’t want to rush through this book. I’m even considering reading it again.

I received a complimentary ARC of this book from NetGalley on behalf of the Publisher and was under no obligation to post a favorable review.

In the midst of storms and uncertainty in the day to day task of life, Sally reminds us of the truth and soundness that this too shall pass. Motherhood is a joy but can be a lonesome task. Sally is a friend who sits right besides you and shares her heart and wisdom in the times you need it most. Thank you Sally for sharing your story with a struggling mom who needs that reminder to keep on.

I posted my review for this title on release day on all platforms.
Love this author, but this book, while well written, wasn’t for me.

Sally shows us all how real her life is and I loved it so much. I, like so many others, have been following her for a long time but this book really hit me where I didn't know I needed it to. Would highly recommend to any mothers or parents whether you are in a place of drowning currently or not. It was such an encouragement!

Sally once again has written an incredibly encouraging book that points the reader to her Rock…Jesus Christ!
This book is filled with encouragement through Scriptures, personal experiences and testimonies of how the Lord has carried Sally and her family through many valleys.
I highly recommend this book to anyone in need of hope and encouragement through the struggles of living in a fallen world!

In this book Sally Clarkson shares the struggles that she has gone through in life and how we can be caught off guard by the storms we encounter in our lives. She shares stories of God’s growth in her life through the trials she has gone through. She also gives many examples of people who suffered in the Bible.

She talks about many truths about suffering, but not in a heavy way. She reiterates that we are never suffering alone, that Jesus is always with us and will give us the grace we need to walk through, that there are many things we can learn from our suffering, that while we are going through suffering we can show others that our hope in Jesus is true, not false, and that hopefully one day we'll look back and see that our faithfulness has been worth it because you will be able to see fruit that has been produced.

She reminds us that “one of the worst things the enemy can do is to truly convince us that our situation is unique, that we are completely alone, and that we will never be able to make it out to see the silver lining.”

This was a great book with lots of wisdom!

DNF. I tried multiple times to read this book in its entirety, but unfortunately the writing style was too simplistic. It really brought me back to reading middle school devotionals for girls. Please, don't be fearful of writing more difficult and complex books for women! I love the Clarksons but this was a miss for me.

This book came at an opportune time, but if you are reading reviews of it, I'm sure you already have heard that said before. Sally Clarkson has written so many words that make me want to aspire to be better, to be more. Help, I'm Drowning came in the midst of an awakening in my life, exiting the Matrix as it may be said and everything was suddenly overwhelming. Reading her snippets of life, seeing she is indeed a real person with real issues, brought me more awake to the world and the people around me. Moving beyond where I had unknowingly stubbornly stuck to, I was able to reach out and expand my circle of people. I'd say this book is responsible for us finding the new church we are now comfortably growing with. Drowning in motherhood. Drowning in helpmeet wifeness. Drowning in a propaganda filled world. Who knew you could weather the storm gracefully?

I started this book from Netgalley and finished it with an audiobook from the library. Highly recommended.

Help, I'm Drowning by Sally Clarkson is a good book with several topics around being overwhelmed. Sally does a good job of pointing you to Christ when things start to get out of control. Her ideas and tips aren't new but are a comforting reminder that He is there for you if you just trust Him.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book for my honest opinion.

This book is all about the storms of life and how our Heavenly Father can guide and comfort us.. Preparing for the storms in our life is one of the only ways to weather them better.
Help, I'm drowning is a book about the storms in life. We all have them, it is just a matter of time before we have another one. Scripture and prayer is the best way thru the storms and Sally Clarkson uses them to try and help us.
The book has a great Table of Contents with page numbers that you could use when you are in the storms of life. Reading about storms of life, when you are not in one, does help you prepare for the future. But using this book to help you during a storm could also be very beneficial. So read it and then use it as a reference book in the future. I think this would be a great book to use as a Bible Study.

I find so much encouragement and truth in the words written by Sally Clarkson, on a variety of topics. “Help, I'm Drowning” is no different. No matter your season or storm there is so much wisdom throughout, whether in regards to marriage, motherhood, or friendship

I read this during a tumultuous and difficult storm in my own life; things expected, but not easier for it. Sally does such a lovely and personable job of sharing her own storms and what kept her stalwart at the helm through it. With practical prayers and verses for guidance, this book is a wonderful life raft for us to be reminded of how to cling to the One who will always help us weather the storm.

Help I’m Drowning, by Sally Clarkson, is exactly the book I needed at this point in life, and I would bet I’m not the only one! Sally Clarkson seems to have the uncanny ability to understand precisely what so many of us are going through, and how to not only relate to the reader with clarity and candor, but also offer encouragement and an accessible path forward.

She grounds her wisdom and insight in Scriptural truths, and relates to her readers from her own life experiences, sharing antidotes from her history and stories of friends and family members. Each section offers a related Prayer, Scripture, and Action, and the novel concludes with some practical, succinct reminders she made throughout.

The conclusion was a call to arms of sorts, and a worthy rally cry to believers to stay the course and set a much-needed legacy for your children and others in your sphere. This novel is one I will read again and again, and I’m grateful to Sally for sharing her story, the hard-earned Biblical truths she’s learned along the way, and her heart.

I enjoyed this book, but as someone currently drowning, it felt like Sally was kind of superhuman. The tone of the book didn’t resonate with me. I would recommend this to others who are struggling with the day to day life of parenting and homeschooling. But I wouldn’t for those struggling with trauma and recovery.

Encouragement for dealing with the storms of life
Best-selling author and world-renowned speaker Sally Clarkson presents her book: "Help, I'm Drowning. Weathering the Storms of Life with Grace and Hope", published by Bethany House Publishers. The book contains twelve chapters with topics such as "Loneliness and Isolation: Finding Hope when you feel all alone", "Craven fear: Cowering in a corner is a hard place to be", or "Be gentle with yourself: You are worthy of care". The chapters start with Bible verses and quotes from various people, e.g. Vincent van Gogh, Mahatma Gandhi, or Amy Carmichael. The end of the chapters present an anchoring prayer, an anchoring scripture with reflection questions and anchoring act to do.
Clarkson writes very honest and personal. In the introduction she says: "Yet, a feeling of helplessness and despair lay just below the surface; I felt out of control, like a victim caught in a continuous onslaught of unexpected storms without even a second to catch my breath or get my sea legs. Is it the way of every woman to keep everyone else above water as she slowly sinks under the weight?" And as goal for this book: "Because during so many of these times in my own life I was alone and didn’t have spiritual companions to lift me up or help me, I thought, Maybe I can be of some comfort or help or be a compassionate counselor to others who, like me, have felt alone. I want to reach out so that others will not have to be miserable, feeling no one would understand them. I want to help others know how to keep moving forward with real hope. We all need a fellow struggler who has gone before us through the storms of life." She wants to share with her readers the truths that had enabled her to sort out the ups and down of her life and move forward. This is the first book that I read by Sally Clarkson and I enjoy her honesty. I also appreciate the notes at the end of the book that are useful for reference of for further study and I recommend this book to readers who are dealing with various storms of life or for those who are walking alongside of such people.
The complimentary copy of this book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley free of charge. I was under no obligation to offer a positive review. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

An informative and encouraging book for those who may need help in a tough season of life. I always enjoy Sally Clarkson and her edifying books. I listened on audio.

Help! I’m Drowning is another wonderful book from Sally Clarkson. She touches on many important topics, and she covers each one with wisdom and graciousness. I especially enjoyed the chapter on marriage, and the practical advice she gives to those going through a difficult season in their relationship or those who may be in a difficult marriage, period. I love her attitude of accepting your unique “puzzle” in life. This has helped me think through challenges in a productive and hopeful way, instead of either bemoaning my circumstances or believing/wishing I can change things that will likely not change. Sally shares helpful personal stories and writes honestly. Her words are filled with both truthfulness and hope. I am thankful for her faithfulness in her own life and her willingness to minister to others through her books!

This was the first book I’ve written from Sally Clarkson, but it won’t be the last. As a wife, mother of 4, ministry leader and author, she is certainly a busy woman, but one who has dedicated her life to God. The stories she shares in this book show that she, like all of us, feels the pain and difficulties of life, but she trusts God to get us through this.

There is a kind of freedom to accepting that bad things will happen. I don’t want that (nobody does), but being able to be steadfast through challenges allows us to reflect God’s strength and goodness. My aunt is like this, as well as others I know.

This book makes me want to live a more positive life. Be a light, a good example.

Thank you Sally for honestly and your faith. It is an inspiration!

This is a book every woman needs to read. Reading this book is like sitting down with a friend and talking about your problems. It's full of encouragement and you realize you're not alone with your problems. This is a book I will refer back to often.
I received a complimentary copy from Bethany House via NetGalley and was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own.

This is a good basic book for those who may be new to Christianity, I think. That isn't the case for me. This just isn't my preferred style of writing.
