Thank you to Sourcebooks Casablanca and NetGalley for this advanced copy in exchange for my honest opinion. Lucky Leap Day will be released on January 18th, 2022.

This was such a sweet romance with low conflict and high swoon. I was intrigued by the concept of an accidental marriage and the couple making it work…I know people hate the “Married in Vegas” concept but I’m kind of a fan of that kind of forced-proximity.

Things I loved: Pippa! I love a quirky grandmother. Julia was also a great best friend to Cara. We got some Devil Wears Prada vibes. I loved that Finn and Cara both encouraged each other. The Dublin adventures. The dogs, how cute are they!

Things I didn’t care for: I wish it was an open-door romance, we were told the characters had great chemistry and closed-door left me searching for something especially since this was an insta-love trope. Missing some of their backgrounds and history, Finn seems like a man of many talents and suddenly had a new career in the States.

So go request on NetGalley, pre-order and look for at you local library!

Leap Year is one of my favourite movies so when I read the blurb of this book, I instantly wanted to read it. And, thankfully, it delivered just what I wanted. I read this in (almost) one sitting and I was hooked on page one. The romance was so cute and I love Finn (where can I get one?). I really enjoyed reading their romance blossom. Also, the ending was satisfying (which I value).
However, I didn't like the "problem/obstacle" aka the finding out they aren't actually married. I liked the fact that it wasn't predictable, but it didn't feel very impactful. Also, the epilogue was a no for me. I hated reading it from the dogs perspective. Although Cara was a developed character, I felt like with Finn there was something missing. I guess that also has to do with the fact that it is in Cara's perspective, but I have a few questions that remain unanswered, number one being why was Finn a musician if he wanted to be an actor?

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to review Lucky Leap Day.

I had a pretty good time with this book! I thought the romance was sweet, although more on the insta-love side than I’d usually go for. Finn was definitely a dreamy lead. I wanted to understand *why* he was into Cara - what was it about her that swept him off his feet? The POV in the epilogue was a bonus, so entertaining!

I spotted a few small errors - a reference to a character “Paige” (possibly an earlier name for Cara)?

I think some steam would have helped - if there’s lots of talk about how great the sex is, it would be interesting to know why (doesn’t need to be super graphic).

This book would suit someone who likes to be quickly swept away in a light romance with minimal drama.

Sometimes you have to judge a book by its cover and I did just that with Lucky Leap Day by Ann Marie Walker. I thought it looked cute and the concept was different.
I really liked this book! The concept of an accidentally marrying was interesting. As story went on, I was rooting for them to fall in love!
I'll be reading more of this authors work in the very near future!
