Friends/strangers becoming something much more! This was definitely a romantic comedy, definitely needed more steamy moments. I’m a fan of the movies Leap Year and P.S. I Love You so this was right up my alley. Finn and Cara learn so much about each other and I absolutely loved watching their relationship grow!

I received an e-galley of Lucky Leap Day by Ann Marie Walker from Sourcebooks Casablanca via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Have you ever seen the romantic comedy Leap Year starring Amy Adams and Matthew Goode? Lucky Leap Day reminded me a lot of that movie - though perhaps only because part of the premise of both storylines have to do with the Irish tradition on Leap Day where women would propose to the men. If you love romantic comedies with a bit of that Irish flavour, then Lucky Leap Day may be right up your alley. In this story, Cara's trip to Dublin is not off to a great start but things seem to turn for the better when she ends up in an Uber of an extremely handsome and charming driver. The two connect instantly and the story starts with Cara waking up in Finn's bed, finding out that she's married to said Finn, the extremely handsome and charming Irish man. As the two try to figure out what this means, they both decide to head back to LA where Cara is from. The two begin to connect and really get to know one another when a secret is revealed and threatens the happiness and love - real or fake- that Cara was beginning to feel.
I love a good contemporary romance and when it's set in Europe, even more so. Lucky Leap Year definitely delivers for that in being a fun and easy contemporary romance read. One thing that I always want from stories set in faraway places is the ability to believe that I'm there with the characters - and I found that I really did imagine myself in Dublin with Cara and Finn. I think it helped that I've actually been to Ireland (and loved it). If you like contemporary romances, drunk marriage proposals, Irish settings and accents, and fun characters rounding out the MCs, then add Lucky Leap Day to your tbr!

Being a huge fan of the 2010 movie ‘Leap Year’ I was thrilled to receive an arc of ‘Lucky Leap Day’ to read and honestly review! Thank you to @netgalley and the publisher🙌🏻
‘Lucky Leap Day’ was a fast-paced, humorous and flirty read. I felt connected to the characters straight away and sensed the butterflies and the chemistry immediately as well. The unexpected, drunken, ‘last-night’ marriage reminded me of the movie ‘What happens in Vegas’ and since I had not read the idea in a rom-com before, it was very well-thought, planned out and executed.
I was slightly taken aback by the lack of spice, especially since Cara’s constant thinking of Finn and the tension building up between them certainly indicated that something steamy would happen. However that was not ultimately a game-changer since the story remained interesting till the very end. Yet, I wish we would have seen more moments in Ireland, rather than the straight up change to L.A.
All in all, ‘Lucky Leap Day’ is an enjoyable, lighthearted story perfect for rom-com lovers, guaranteed to keep you rooting for the adorable romance between Cara and Finn till the very end. Really enjoyed! 3.5 stars⭐️

What a great start to the new year with a story that had a little bit of everything! Irish accents, a dog named Oscar, absurd amounts of whiskey, an Irish Leap Day tradition, and some rather embarrassing moments make a perfect setup for a sweet love story! 🍀🐶🥃🎶💍🧤
Cara and Finn were a great dynamic. There was an immediate connection between them when they first met, and it was not surprising that the story went in the direction it did. All the characters had a little pizazz and were easy to love.
Favorite quote: "If you want to live life to the fullest, you're gonna have to dance on some Tuesday nights." 💃🏻
I particularly liked when Cara thought about a conversation she could have handled differently after the conversation was over. She would then rewrite those conversations in her head like a screenplay about what she should have said. I can't tell you how many times I've done the same thing! I wish there were more scenes like those because it felt so realistic and relatable.
If you're a fan of movies like P.S. I Love You, Bridget Jones' Diary, and Knotting Hill, you'll love the reference of each throughout the story. 🥰
Lucky Leap Day is a must-add to your #TBR pile!

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC. This was a cute easy read. I felt like the story flowed really well. The story follows Cara that end up in Ireland over Leap day and has a little bit too much whiskey and ends up married to a Hot Irishman Finn. Finn follows her to LA as they are married and have to figure out what paperwork they need to get to annul the marriage but being in forced proximity they end up falling for each other.
The plot twist was a little mediocre and maybe its just me but a woman proposing to a man once is enough but TWICE? Over all it was cute and some moments had be smiling. The way it was written I was hoping for some spice as the tension was very descriptive but it was very much fade to black, its not labelled as YA but as a New Adult Romance so I was hoping for a little bit more spice.

If you want a wholesome rom com, you will love this book. It just gave me all the feels. And this book is set partly in Dublin. What could be better?
Cara is on vacation when she meets hot Uber driver Finn who shamelessly flirts with her in a super charming way and has a cute dog. They then find each other again and again until they end up married. After 3 days. On Leap Day. Yep, just like the movie. And yes, I imagine Mathew Goode as Finn.
This is a fast passed, super-light book that you can pick up between heavier books that will make you laugh and give you all the warm feelings. The characters are likable and lovable, independent and just want to be loved.
PS. It could have benefited from a few POVs from Finn to make the story complete for me. I would love to see some scenes from his perspective, his thoughts, and his feelings.

Did you know that it’s tradition in Ireland for women to propose on Leap Day?
Lucky Leap Day is such a fun, wild ride. Newly dumped and frustrated with her career, Cara spontaneously decides to propose to Finn on her long-weekend trip to Ireland. Unfortunately, she was too inebriated at the time to remember doing so! She has to rush back to LA for an important meeting, so Finn decides to go home with her to decide what to do about their marriage.
I loved Cara and Finn, and was rooting for their relationship from the start. Finn seemed like such a warm, lovely man, and they had great chemistry and banter. My favorite side character was Pippa, Cara’s grandmother-adjacent role model. She seemed so interesting, I would have loved to see more of her!
This story is definitely far-fetched at times, but it is such a fun escape.
The best part of the whole book was the epilogue from the dog’s point of view! I thought this was such a cute way to wrap up Finn and Cara’s story and let the reader know where they are now.
I’m excited to go back and pick up Walker’s previous novel, Happy Singles Day.

Thanks to Sourcebooks Casablance for an advanced copy of Lucky Leap Day.
I love any book set in Ireland and enjoyed Ann Marie Walker's last book so I knew Lucky Leap Day was going to be a fun rom-com!
Aspiring screenwriter Cara is on a long weekend trip to Dublin when she finds herself after a fun night married to a man she met the day before after getting caught up in the Irish Leap Day tradition of women proposing. As they try to figure out what to do, Cara convinces Finn to come to LA with her. Of course sparks start to fly as they get to know each other better, but when he is cast for a role in a movie Cara questions if their love is real...
This was such a cute and fun book! While slightly unbelievable, it was a sweet romance. It is closed door, so if you don't like steam, this is a perfect one to pick up!

Lucky Leap Day is a cute romance novel that follows main character Cara when she wakes up one morning after too many whiskeys to find that she's married a near stranger, Finn, while on holiday in Ireland. Deciding to sort things out in the US, Finn and Cara hop a plane to LA. After spending more and more time together, Cara begins to wonder if her drunken impulse was a mistake or if it could be the real deal.
What worked for me:
- Finn was adorable and I had a slight book crush on him
- This filled a travel void in my heart (stupid COVID)
- I love romance novels with banter and thought Finn and Cara's was a lot of fun
What didn't work for me:
- As adorable as Finn was, he never felt fully developed as a character. We never knew much about him or the struggles and barriers he had in picking up his life and moving to a completely new country. How was he able to afford this? What did his family say? I sometimes struggle to suspend my disbelief in novels and this was definitely an instance of that.
- I prefer my romance novels to be deeper and have more character development
This was a quick, easy, and fun read, but ultimately it felt pretty surface level. I would recommend it for fans of lighter romances or anyone looking to break up heavier reads, as well as for anyone looking for something to fill a travel void. I would ultimately give it a 3.5, part of that coming from the travel aspect.

I enjoyed this book. The characters were well thought out and the plot moved at a great pace. I would enjoy reading more from this author in the future.

On a long weekend to Ireland, Cara gets caught up in an Irish tradition of women proposing on Leap Day. Agreeing that it will be easier to divorce if they are in the same country, Cara convinces Finn, her new husband to come home to LA with her while thy get this sorted out. But as they spend more time together, feelings become real - but will they be able to figure out their feelings before Finn’s travel visa expires?
This story is so fun! It definitely feels a bit far-fetched at times, but the wild adventures lead to a sweet romance with some hilarious moments. This book is so different from the many romcoms I’ve read before and I loved the Leap Day storyline! I was definitely rooting for this couple the whole time. This one is closed-door so my friends who don’t love the steamier books, this is a perfect romcom for you!
Thanks to Sourcebooks Casablanca for the advanced copy!

I know that we are only 4 days into 2022, but this is hands down, my favorite read of the year. Maybe even the past 2 years! I am Irish and have dreamed of going to Ireland for as long as I could remember, but while reading this book, I felt like I was there. I could hear Finn's accent while reading. I could easily picture Kilmainham Gaol Museum, the bars, everything. Even in LA, everything was written with so much detail that I felt like I was there.
I loved the references to music, tv shows, and from coms, especially the mentions of Ryan Reynolds (Swoon). I loved Oscar. I loved the connection I felt to Cara. I also enjoyed that Julia wasn't the overbearing best friend, that made Cara do things she didn't want to do. And Pippa, she was hysterical and I wish she was my grandmother!
This book made me laugh, made me cry (happy tears), and made me swoon more times than I could count. The epilogue was one of my favorite parts. Read it and you'll see why. I am keeping my fingers crossed for a follow-up because honestly I still need more of Cara and Finn in my life.

This book is the very definition of rom-com perfection. I enjoyed the whirlwind romance and humour (common to rom-coms) but what set this book apart was the lovable and swoon worthy Irishman Finn (and his pooch Oscar), a fun leap day tradition, and a matching pair of tin foil rings! And an epilogue by a dog? Genius. So much fun.
This was a delightful, fast paced book that I could hardly put down and I highly recommend this one to any and all rom-com fans!
Thank you NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for the eArc in exchange for an honest review!

After being dumped by her ex-boyfriend, Cara who is an aspiring screenwriter takes a solo trip to Dublin that she should went to with her ex-boyfriend. After she arrived, she meets this one charming and sexy irish man, Finn and his dog, Oscar. He become her uber driver and guide tourist. And starting from there, their story started.

This book is very lighthearted and very cute. Yup we can’t never go wrong with a Rom-Com book. This book is so perfect. We got an accidental marriage in this book. It’s very funny and i literally can’t stop smiling over this book. The plot is just so engaging and addicting. The first and the last part is so perfect but the middle of the book there’s some parts that kinda dragged too long. But overall i really enjoyed the journey in this book. I got to know more about Irish slang or accent in this book. It’s very interesting.
_
Cara is a very great character. Sometimes i could relate to her but sometimes i don’t. I liked how this book shows Cara’s job was shown to be a big of part of this story and how ambitious she is towards her job. She works very hard to be a screenwriter.
Next, Finn Maguire. YUP AN IRISH MAN. i’m gonna repeat that idc. i loved his character so much. he is very sweet and very charming istg and he is also very caring pls i love him 🥺 i couldn’t write anything about Finn because in this book we didn’t know much about him and we literally need his POVs.
_
Why i couldn’t give it 5 stars:
- as like i said, we didn’t know much or anything about Finn except he is an uber driver, works at tourist guide and a singer at bar. but his childhood? his family? we didn’t get much.
- some parts kinda dragged too long
- the epilogue just doesn’t make sense but it’s cute yet so weird at the same time.
- the ending kinda rushed but it was a great ending.
_
so that’s all i’m gonna say about this book i guess. overall i enjoyed it so much.

thank you to net galley and SOURCEBOOKS casablanca for this ARC in exchange with a review.

This was a fun, enjoyable closed door romance from the author who brought us Happy Singles Day (one of my favorites from last year). After recently getting dumped, Cara travels to Ireland where she meets Finn, a hot jack of all trades (uber driver, musician, wannabe actor). After a drunken Leap day mistake the two wind up married and decide to sort things out back in LA where Cara has to get back to her job and aspirations of becoming a screenwriter.
I enjoyed how the book opens on the day after and then we get to go back and see how Cara and Finn met. Then we get to see how their romance evolves as they live together in LA. Perfect for fans of the movies PS I love you, Leap year or the books Would like to meet or Roomies. Much thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my advance review copies!

4 Stars for this adorable romance.
It hooked me from the beginning. A solo trip to Ireland after a bad breakup, a hot guy named Fynn with an Irish brogue, waking up in a strange bed with a hangover and a husband, what’s not to love?
I stayed up late and woke up early to finish this with a smile on my face.
Thank you to NetGalley for the arc in exchange for an honest review

This as a heartfelt romantic comedy but it seemed a little bit much. Sometimes I wish they would keep it a little more mellow so it’d be a little more relatable. It was funny and cute if you want a lightweight read.

This was a super cute, fun book that I enjoyed, but didn’t LOVE. I did love the setting in Ireland, the beginning plot and a woman traveling alone. I also thought Finn and Oscar were amazing.. but I wanted more from the relationship and love, and the conflict towards the end drive me crazy. Overall it was an OK read, but not one I’ll remember forever.

I enjoyed the fact that a lot of the beginning of the book was set in Ireland as this was different and adventurous. I also thought that the plot was unique; even though there are quite a few stories about fake relationships and accidental Vegas marriages, this accidental Leap Day marriage was unique because it featured people from two different countries who were attracted to each other right from the get-go. I liked the characters in this book, and I thought that Cara and Finn’s relationship was cute; although, I found it surprising that there wasn’t any on-page spice (other than in Cara’s daydreams). I also thought it was cute that Finn’s dog Oscar was very much a part the story…he even has a canine love interest and pursues his own dreams of Hollywood stardom.
In terms of cons, I don’t want to give anything away but, in my opinion, I found that the “conflict” towards the end of the novel was guessable; it would have been a lot more engaging and interesting if the drama was more unexpected and less predictable. Since I’m not a fan of books that flash back and forth in time, I didn’t like the chapter layout whereby we learn that Cara has married a virtual stranger in the first chapter and then we flash back to discover how Cara and Finn met/ got together before (finally) getting to see the fallout of their Leap Day marriage. Furthermore, even though Cara and Finn’s pre-nuptial adventures were short-lived, in my opinion, since we already knew what the outcome would be, the flashbacks at the beginning made it hard for me to get excited about the novel. Similarly, I didn’t understand why the epilogue was told from Finn’s dog Oscar’s perspective; since all the other chapters were told from Cara’s perspective, the change of perspective in the epilogue was a bit jarring. Lastly, I don’t have a big interest in history, so I didn’t enjoy reading the side story about the Irish Rebellion, which mostly took place during Cara’s tour of an Irish jail.

This book simply wasn’t for me and I am so sad because I love Ann Marie Walker! “Happy single’s day” was pne of my best reads last year and I couldn’t keep myself from comparing both.
It started off good, Cara and Finn were sweet and funny, but after a couple of chapters I just couldn’t get into it. The fact that this book was written in third person and ONLY in Cara’s perspective took so much of the story and the depth of the characters for me.
I will continue to wait for Ann Marie’s books because I think she’s talented and her books have made me swoon im the past, but this one unfortunately was not for me.
