The Arrangement is my first book by Kiersten Modglin. Against popular opinion I did not like the book. It certainly had its good moments but, I found the husbands character completely despicable and because of this, it coloured my views on the rest of the book. I felt like the plot was unbelievable, and trivialized infidelity and rape! While I understand open marriages are a personal choice, it’s definitely not for me.

The story revolves around Ainsley and Peter and their crumbling marriage. Ainsley decides that in order to save their marriage, she and Peter should start seeing and sleeping with other people. But it will be a secret arrangement that only they know about. Peter readily agrees to this ridiculous idea and that’s when things start to fall apart. I have to say there are lots of great unexpected twists that I did not see coming at all. Even at the very end I was shocked by the last plot twist. But twists and turns aside, I sadly did not enjoy The Arrangement.

Thank you NetGalley for the free advanced audiobook in exchange for my honest opinion and review.

I read this book as an audiobook which was the first time I had listened to a thriller. I enjoyed it this way. The dual narration for the Ainsley/Peter was really good and both narrators were a pleasure to listen to. I'd love to hear them tell a story again.

About the story.... it was a well written story and at the start of the book I was captured. I listened to 2/3rds of it in one day while I did other things. I could not "put it down"! The first plot twist was quite unexpected and surprised me for sure!
Unfortunately, after the initial twist, there was so much that seemed unrealistic to me. For example, the police detectives were providing way more detailed information then I think real life police would. And the children seemed to always be able to be gone all at the same time for the right amount of time.
I'm not sure how I feel about the last chapters. It was hard to imagine that Ainsley had planned all she had and that Peter is who we discovered... it was so far-fetched. It just does not fit together. It was like endings from different books or policing televisions shows was tossed into one story.
I wish the last 1/3rd was as good as the first 2/3rds but I am interested in reading more from this author. This was the first.

Thanks to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to listen to and review this book.

Kiersten Modglin is an author who I recently learned about this year and have now devoured three of her books - this one being my favorite so far - and cannot wait for more!

Thank you to @netgalley, @dreamscape_media and KM for an audiobook copy of The Arrangement in exchange for an honest review.

Guys! This audiobook is SO good. About 6 hours in length, this one can easily be binged in a day (trust me, once you start you won't want to stop). The narrators are both fantastic in their roles, it's extremely fast paced, and who doesn't love multiple POVs?

This book took on such a different plot than what I expected based on the synopsis, in the best way possible. There were a few WHAT!? twists and I couldn't stop once I started. Stop thinking about it and pick up a copy of this now.

The Arrangement is a story of a couple whose relationship has become stale and boring. Ainsley is looking for a way to spice up her marriage to Peter. So she proposes an "arrangement." Things don't exactly go as planned though, and it becomes quite the thiller.

I listened to the audio version and really liked the dual narrators for both Ainsley and Peter. They grabbed my attention very early on. I almost stopped listening after the first few chapters but kept going because of the narrators. This was fast-paced and a quick easy listen, but I felt the like as entertaining as the story was, it had too many twists and became very unbelievable. #NetGalley

SO many twists and turns. I started this thinking this couple would start an open marriage that would go south. Told from each perspective, I was able to get the feelings about the whole situation from each. I thought one of them would get too wrapped up with someone else.
But oh no!! This book quickly turned. Each time a new chapter began with the other’s first person telling, new things were discovered about just how dark these two really were. I thought a couple things may be happening, but there were some complete shockers I never saw coming all the way to the VERY end. I now have started adding all Modglin’s books to my TBR.
What made this extra special was the narrators, who were both exceptional. I loved hearing George Newbern as Peter, the husband! He was the perfect voice for this character! I didn’t know the twisted Charlie from Scandal narrated audiobooks, but sign him up for all twisted male voices, people! Just the right amount of a normal guy with a twisted person inside……just like Charlie! Perfecto!
Thank you so much, NetGalley, Dreamscape Media & Kiersten Modglin for this audiobook to “read” and give my honest review! Five stars, HONESTLY! I finished it on one sitting!!

The Arrangement is about Ainsley and Peter, a couple who have been together for quite a long time and are feeling the romance fizzle out. From the beginning, they sit down and discuss trying an open marriage. Once a week, they would get to go out with other people. No falling for someone. Purely just a hook up, which they will never discuss with their spouse. From here, I was expecting your typical story of one of them falling for the person they go out with, leading to divorce, etc. etc. NOPE!

Ainsley has promised herself she would never get divorced and she plans to stick to that no matter what. When she felt her marriage cooling off, she cooked up a plan to essentially force Peter to stay with her. I can't say much more without major spoilers, but just know that nothing is as it seems in their arrangement.

Wow! This book was CRAZY! There were so many twists and they all took me by surprise. Even though some of the characters’ actions were somewhat implausible, this thriller was suspenseful, fast paced and extremely entertaining. The narration of the audiobook brought the characters to life and added an extra layer of intrigue. This was my introduction to Kiersten Modglin and I can’t wait to read more of her thrillers!
Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for my audiobook. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I listened to the audio book and I really liked both narrators. They played their parts very well.

This book is told in the point of view of the wife, Ainsley and the husband, Peter. They are having marital difficulties and decide to try an unconventional arrangement to improve their relationship.

It started out on the slow side while Ainsley pontificated about her plan being the only way to save her marriage and Peter feigned reluctance at the arrangement. I was starting to worry that it wouldn't pick up.

But once it hit a certain point, all hell broke loose and we were treated to twists and turns galore. I found myself listening any chance I had even if it was only a few minutes. The end was unpredictable and entertaining!

Thank you so much for allowing me a complimentary copy in exchange for this honest review!

This was soooo great! I’d never heard of this author, but took a chance. I was not disappointed.

It was a hell of a ride. I mean, what can go wrong in a (somewhat) open marriage?

So many twists and surprises. I couldn’t put the pieces together, which is rare for me.

I also loved the narration. Perfectly executed and really made the story THAT much more intriguing and engaging.

This book was totally sic! If you read this review, stop what you’re doing, and listen to the audio or read it NOW. Not tomorrow, but NOW.

So, I listened to this in audio and had to finish it on day two. This morning at 5:30am I texted my BF and said you HAVE to read this book. I am half way through but you can read this in a day. She checked it out on Kindle Unlimited and did exactly that. I finished the audio later in the day. We touched base and we are like OMG! The twists were fabulously unpredictable.

Thank you Dreamscape Audio and Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion. The Narrators really brought the story to life. I literally listened while I got ready for work, at my lunch break, on my commute, while I did extra chores after work. I could NOT stop listening. I am grateful I checked it out and my friend loved it as well.

P.S. My BF has already started another book by this author.

Thank you!

This was my second Kiersten Modglin and she’s definitely becoming an author that I can expect to give me really surprising and original twists and turns

In these days of big marketing budgets and elaborate social media campaigns, it's delightful to discover an outstanding author through word of mouth, which is how I learned about author Kiersten Modglin. Kristen @bagels_and_books posted a glowing review of The Missing by Modglin on Bookstagram and I noted the author's name. When I saw The Arrangement available on Netgalley, I was excited to be approved for the audiobook.

The premise: Ainsley and Peter have been married for several years, both have demanding jobs, and they have three children. In a desperate attempt to save their floundering marriage, they agree to an arrangement where each will discretely 'date' another person once each week. What could go wrong?? Of course, nothing goes according to plan, and I was continually shocked by the twists and turns this plot takes, all the way to the very last sentence of this 240-page novel.

The audiobook is skillfully narrated by Sarah Mollo-Christenen and George Newbern as the voices of Ainsley and Peter. I first heard George Newbern when he narrated We Begin At The End and I strongly identify him with that fabulous novel, so it was an adjustment to hear him read this very different type of book.

I’ll definitely be reading more of Ms. Modglin’s novels. Thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for the ALC; all thoughts are my own.

Creepy great book! Please do not let the sweet innocent blurb fool you. This was beautifully laid out with so many twists and turns I never knew exactly who to believe and trust. Great characters and boom the OMG moments! I highly recommend this book.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book

This book is such a roller coaster!!!
It's quick and full of surprising twists. Every time you think you have a grab of where this book is going to take you, the plot takes a 180 change of course.

To really enjoy this book, you have to take it with a grain of salt and go with the flow. That way is a lot fun to read it!

Thank you MacMillian Audio and NetGalley for allowing me to read this book.

The Arrangement focuses on Ainsley and Peter, who are married with kids, and decided to spice up their marriage, but never anticipated what would happen when they do. There are so many twists in this and I was so intrigued and engaged! However, this book was so unbelievable and OTT, that it took me out of the book several times.

Many thanks to Dreamscape Media, NetGalley, and the author for this advance audiobook in exchange for my honest review!

I will update with a full review once I have finished. I am enjoying this book so far!

Ainsley and Peter are unreliable narrators and they also aren’t very smart but that is what makes a good story.

There are some amazing twists that I never saw coming! This is a shorter story but it packs a punch! I don’t want to give this one away I highly recommend it!

Narrated by, George Newbern & Sarah Mollo-Christensen, I honestly requested this book because of George Newbern and I was not disappointed in the narration each narrator brings the emotion of this couple perfectly.

Be careful when you make such an arrangement with your spouse!

I will be buying this one for the library!

I received this book from the publisher Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for a fair and honest review.

Whoa this was crazy! There was a lot jammed into this thriller and you still get twists right until the last words. I liked the narrators but might be too many twists for some people. If you are a thriller reader you will like this one!
