“A View Most Glorious” by Regina Scott is historical fiction at its finest and best. In 1893, Coraline Baxter climbs Mt. Rainier to promote a suffragette group to help women gain the right to vote. However, suffrage isn’t the only reason for Coraline’s unusual decision. Desperate to succeed rather than succumb to her mother’s disastrous plan for her life, she invests all her hopes in a man as rugged and wild as the mountain itself. But Nathan Hardee is so much more than Coraline ever imagines in her faintest dreams. Determined to live a life of significance, Coralee wants to make her mark on the world in a big way. Meanwhile, in a sudden change of heart, rugged mountain guide Nathan Hardee agrees to help her scale the summit, when he sees what is at stake for her. These two finally discover that only when they do it together is the view most glorious. Their characters are as multifaceted as a dazzling diamond. There are vivid descriptions of majestic scenery, and a twisting, turning plot that makes one wonder where it is heading to. Climbing Rainier requires all the fortitude Cora can muster, as she and Nathan rediscover their faith in God and humanity. Here are two loners who make most unlikely partners in righting a wrong. I highly recommend this awesome book by an exemplary author.

A View Most Glorious View by Regina Scott is a historical romance set in Tacoma, Washington in 1893, and tells the story of Cora Baxter and Nathan Hardee. Cora wants to climb Mount Rainier to bring people's attention to the woman's suffrage movement in Washington State. Her stepfather finds Nathan to guide her up the mountain. Cora is extremely independent and works at her father's bank. Nathan used to be a part of Tacoma society until tragedy struck and now lives very close to the mountain.

I'm a huge Regina Scott fan and this story did not disappoint. Cora and Nathan were amazing characters who I fell in love with. The story is set against the incredible backdrop of Mount Rainier and shares the history of the area before it was a state park. The story eloquently shares society's rules and roles for women, the women’s suffrage movement, the downturn in the economy of that time, workers rights, and the beauty of Washington State.

I was very invested and thoroughly enjoyed the story. The author masterfully weaves in historical content with an engaging story. A View Most Glorious has characters that are interesting and introspective, a setting that is amazing, and a gentle love story. I highly recommend it.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for my copy of this book. I was not required to write a positive review.

Mount Rainier is beautiful and I cannot imagine a young society woman attempting to climb it in 1893 but Coraline Baxter does just that! I admired Cora for her determination especially since her mother has agreed that Coraline will not have to marry an unscrupulous society man if she completes the climb! Coraline is making the climb to bring attention to voting rights for women! Mountain guide Nathan Hardee has left Tacoma society behind after a tragedy. Nathan was a great Christian example for Cora who asks him what he is doing. He replies "I was praying" to which she replies "It can't be Sunday again." I enjoyed meeting the characters who lived on the mountain. You will feel the beauty of the mountain as you read A View Most Glorious! I recommend Regina Scott's latest book to others. I received a complimentary copy of this book in the American Wonders Collection from Revell Books. This is my honest opinion.

I absolutely loved this book! I am a huge fan of anything to do with suffragettes and reading about them is one of my favorite past times, so I immediately knew this was going to be the book for me. It did not disappoint, and I enjoyed it even more than I’d anticipated.

Cora was my favorite kind of heroine. She was smart and strong and passionate about the women’s suffrage movement. Yet she also had a kind heart that cared for the less fortunate. It was so fun to read about her going from dressing in luxurious ball gowns for elegant dinner parties and nights at the opera to following her journey up the mountain in the name of women’s right. I loved reading about this head-strong woman who fell in love with Mount Rainier.

And Nathan was my favorite kind of hero. He has strong opinions of his own, yet is not domineering toward Cora, nor does he try to hem her in. Though he had been disillusioned after his father’s death, reading about him letting go of the past and embracing a future with Cora was wonderful.

Mount Rainier is a character itself in the book and what a stunning setting for a story it was! I learned a lot about the mountain as I read about Cora and Nathan’s hike. The author’s passion and familiarity with Rainier is abundantly clear in this book and she writes about the landmark with such appreciation and care. Reading about the meadows of wildflowers, the camps, and the snowcapped top was just awe inspiring.

A View Most Glorious is one of my new favorite books. I highly recommend this book to those who loves Christian historical fiction…or just a good read in general.

I have enjoyed all three books in this series thus far. Each one takes an American landmark and incorporates that into the location and plot of the story. This book takes us to Tacoma, Washington in the 1890s near Mount Rainier.
Thanks to Revell and NetGalley for the ARC. This is a book I will be glad to recommend to our patrons.

It’s been too long since I’ve read a Regina Scott book! Brimming with historical tidbits, lovable characters, witty and humorous dialogue, this well-written book with an engaging plot should be on every historical fiction lover’s must-read list.

I loved Cora’s independent spirit and determination. Nathan’s backstory and his emergence as a new man with faith tugged at the heartstrings and made him so real and swoony. I felt like I was on the mountain with them as they climbed - and the journey indeed was most glorious.

It’s book 3 in the series but can totally be read as a stand alone. I received the book from publisher and via NetGalley and was under no obligation to post a positive comment. All opinions are solely my own.

This has been an interesting book for sure! I enjoyed the adventures of mountain climbing although I'm not sure at all if I'd take the risk! Too dangerous for me but I loved reading about Coraline's adventure.
Beautiful description of the scenery that I felt like I was there!
Scott did a wonderful job with the plot, characters and setting that I finished the book in one day!
Cora was a lady ahead of her time! I loved that she was strong, determined and she loved a good challenge that came her way. I would love to be more like her!
Nathan was a beautiful character too. I especially liked Nathan's faith. In fact, I admired him for it. He was a strong character too.
Nathan's a good example for us that we can praise God no matter where we are. We don't necessarily need walls to worship God. God knows where our hearts lie.
The other characters were amazing too. Some of the secondary ones I liked very much. And of course there's those that I didn't like but that's what makes a good story.
I enjoyed my "trip" Mt. Rainier national park as I've never been there before.
I didn't want it to end!
My thanks to Regina Scott and Revell publications for a copy of this book. All opinions are my own. I was NOT required to write a positive review.

A View Most Glorious
American Wonders Series - Book 3
By Regina Scott

Revell - October 2021

Inspirational Historical Romance

Coraline Baxter had already achieved great heights. She had been one of the few women to attend university, and was now using her accounting degree in a bank. Granted her stepfather's position in the bank had secured her the job, but her expertise was what the men utilized in making financial decisions.

She intended to make her own decisions in life, and she was a proud suffragette. However, she loved her mother, even though she tried to push Cora into a life she didn't want. Even worse was her mother's newest fixation, Cash Kincaid. A man of questionable business practices and not supportive of women's rights. Unwilling to marry such a man, and at the same time determined to promote a woman’s ability to be equal to men, Cora decided to hike to the summit of Mount Rainier. All she needed was a guide.

Nathan Hardee hadn’t wanted to guide Cora and her stepfather to the summit, but after seeing her determination, ability and the chance to thwart Kincaid, he was willing. However, he was not a pushover. He might be willing to compromise on much, but when it came to the life or death decisions on the mountain, he was adamant that his decisions be final. Which could be a point of contention for Cora.

A View Most Glorious was a glorious finale to Regina Scott’s American Wonders series. Nathan was a fascinating hero with a touching backstory and an interesting new role as a mountain guide. He was accepting of women's rights and at ease with everyone he encountered. Cora was not a woman to allow a man to make her decisions, but she was also smart enough to acknowledge when someone else was better informed. It was fascinating to watch as they recognized each other’s strengths and worked to find a way to be together. I am sorry that A View Most Glorious is the last of the American Wonders series. As each story did stand on its own, I hope Ms Scott returns someday and writes additional stories involving our National Parks.

Coraline Baxter has spunk and purpose. She's level headed and adventurous, qualities that go against her society upbringing. Nathan Hardee is hardworking and thoughtful, yet he's fallen from the grace of society because of his father. Mount Ranier, the star of the story, shines as a beautiful creation to be respected and admired. When Coraline's step-father hires Nathan to lead them on a climb to the summit, Nathan isn't certain it's a good idea, but Coraline has plans and is determined. Coraline's mother adds another layer to this delightful story. She's a lady in the societal sense of the word. Her daughter climbing a mountain leaves her spinning. Oh, and there is a potential suiter for Coraline. Let me say, he's not the nicest guy in town. Regina Scott has spun an enjoyable tale of determination, faith, and courage. I've read all three of the American Wonders Collection and loved each one. If you enjoy adventure, history, and romance you'll love A View Most Glorious. I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

A captivating series conclusion from Regina Scott!  I’ve greatly enjoyed her American Wonders Collection series, and A View Most Glorious is an interesting and well-written story.  It is also unique in its subject matter—I can’t think of many historicals where the heroine climbs a mountain!  I liked Nathan’s character, and the side characters were intriguing, although a few made me want to shake them through the page.  The meticulous research and dedication Scott puts into her books is obvious, and this story (and series) is no exception.  I highly recommend these books if you’re looking to learn more about the natural wonders of America.  4/5 stars

Coraline Baxter agreed to climb Mount Rainer because she hoped it would generate enough support for the suffragrettes. But she needs a guide. Nathan Hardee was once a member of high society but now he makes a living guiding people up the mountain.

It was clear from the beginning that Coraline knew what she wanted. I only wish that she had stood up to her mother earlier.

It takes grit to climb a mountain, especially without experience and I liked that Coraline's stepfather supported her even if her mother couldn't.

Nathan was a decent man. He had integrity and genuinely cared about people. Yes,  he may have retreated from society when his father died, but he became a better man for it. Nathan's faith was a living thing and it was able to inspire faith in Coraline.

The romance between Cora and Nathan sprang out of respect and mutual admiration and the reader can't help but root for their relationship to work out in spite of the obstacles.

The reader will be reminded a person's character has to do with a lot more than their social standing or how much money they make.  They will also be reminded that they can worship God anywhere including in nature.

A View Most Glorious was a fitting end to the American Wonders Collection trilogy.

Absolutely enjoyed this third book in the American Wonders Collection! In each of these books, Regina Scott makes the history of America’s National Parks come alive with a captivating story full of romance and adventure. In A View Most Glorious, the beauty of Mount Rainier and its surrounding area in Washington state is expertly captured in this compelling story of a woman determined to climb the formidable mountain to bring attention to the cause of the suffragette movement.

Cora is a beautiful, smart, tenacious woman pursued by one of Tacoma’s most eligible bachelors. However, she’s not interested in marriage to the stubborn Mr. Kincaid. Having graduated from college and now working at her stepfather’s bank, her main cause is to prove women are just as capable as men and secure a woman’s right to vote. The local suffragette movement, having suffered a few setbacks, believes that if Cora can climb to the top of Mount Rainier, she will prove that women can easily vote.

Nathan is a handsome, powerful, deeply thoughtful mountain man who was once a member of Tacoma’s high society. After his father left his family destitute and took his life, Nathan finally found peace by leaving that life behind. He now leads expeditions up Mount Rainier and has built a life for himself living in a cabin in the surrounding forest. When Cora and her stepfather want to hire him as their guide, he’s immediately skeptical. He doesn’t think the pretty socialite is up to the task. After some persuasion however, he decides to give her a chance. As they travel to Mount Rainier and begin the treacherous climb, he gains new respect for her and comes to love her. But can the two survive the mountain and her mother’s machinations? It’s a story of faith, romance, and adventure as these two work together to make it to the top of one of America’s most picturesque mountains.

Mount Rainier National Park is a gorgeous park. It’s one that my family and I throughly enjoyed visiting. I loved reliving visiting the area through this book. The history, based on actual people and events, was interesting and the characters completely drew me in. I was cheering for Nathan and Cora to find a way to make things work. Highly recommend this story and hope the American Wonders series continues. I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions are my own and I was not required to provide a positive review.

I was excited to read this book because I live near Mt. Rainier and have been to Paradise many times. It was nice to read about a place I am familiar with!

I have read the other books in this series and found all three a bit slow, but still a good read. A View Most Glorious also started out slow, but I kept reading it to experience the climb with Cora. She is a likable character that wants to climb to the summit to bring attention to the women's right to vote. She has the support of her stepfather, but not her mother. Her mother only wants her to make a suitable match and raise children. I liked the way Cora's relationships with her stepfather and mother change throughout the book. They all three come to accept each other's strengths and weaknesses regardless of how they think a person should think or behave.

For those who like light romance, A View Most Glorious will be an enjoyable read.

You are not going to want to miss reading this wonder book. The title of the book tells you what you need to know. Coraline and Nathan both need to learn what they really want in life. They both get to learn in one way when Nathan is hired to take Coraline up to the summit of Mount Rainier. Coraline and Nathan both need to learn to stand up for themselves in many ways. I loved the descriptions of the climb up this mountain. I did not want to put this book down. I received a copy of this book from Revell for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

In short: Washington 1893, Socialite Coraline is asked to climb a mountain in order to bring attention to the suffragette movement.

Series: This is book 3 in the American Wonders Collection series. Each is a stand alone set in different National Parks.

My thoughts: I loved this book and was totally captivated by the characters, the setting of Tacoma and Mount Rainier and what they were trying to accomplish. One of the things I love most in this series is that each book features a very strong, confident woman and the scenery descriptions that make the books have a strong sense of place. This book lived up to both of those things.

Cora is one determined woman, she wants to accomplish something big and avoid having to marry a disreputable man. The suffragettes hope to show the world that if an average woman can accomplish such a feat, then the average woman can also vote. Nathan, the man who reluctantly agrees to guide her, was once a socialite as well but now is trying to escape bad memories in the wilderness. Together they learn to trust and respect each other to accomplish their goal and along the way find their purpose, fighting for what they believe in and love.

Thank you to NetGalley and Revell for a gifted copy of this book. Another fantastic installment to this series

“A View Most Glorious” is book 3 in the American Wonders Collection. After having read “A Distance Too Grand” and “Nothing Short of Wondrous”, I fully expected this book to be as good or better than its sister books, and I was not disappointed. The historical and geographical detail made me feel as though I were actually hiking Mt. Rainier (or is it Tacoma?) with Coraline Baxter. This headstrong protagonist is determined to hike to the summit of Rainier in order to further the cause of women’s suffrage and prove that she can be an independent woman who can make it on her own in society. Nathan Hardee, once a gentleman in society, now a mountain guide, is not so sure of Ms. Baxter’s capabilities. HIs reluctance to guide her up the mountain and the things that he seems to be hiding, prove every bit as difficult for Coraline to overcome as the mountain she is determined to climb. However, as they spend more time together preparing and making their way to the summit, their feelings towards one another grow stronger and stronger. However, what can a man like Nathan offer a socialite like Coraline? Will his secrets be made known and will they destroy the tenuous friendship that he and Coraline have developed? And will Coraline’s overbearing mother see that a marriage to Cash Kincaid is not only bad idea but could be dangerous as well? Coraline’s ultimatum-issuing mother has really left her no choice- if she doesn’t climb the mountain, she will have to marry Kincaid and give up her job at the bank and her plans to help the women’s suffrage movement. Will she reach the summit? Is she willing to give up what she thinks that she wants in life in order to have a true view most glorious? Ms. Scott made her book come alive, so much so, that I just had to look up all the places and peoples just so I could see and learn more about them. I hope that there are more wonderful books coming in this this series. My thanks to Revell publishing and NetGalley for the ARC of this book. All opinions within this review are my own.

A View Most Glorious

Rated: 4

Back of the Book: “Reluctant socialite Coraline Baxter longs to live a life of significance and leave her mark on the world. When her local suffragette group asks her to climb Mount Rainier to raise awareness of their cause, she jumps at the chance, even though she has absolutely no climbing experience. If she can do it, any woman can do it. And after her mother issues an ultimatum--that Cora marries the man of her mother's choosing if she is not successful--Cora must do it. But she can't do it alone.
Noted mountain guide Nathan Hardee initially refuses to help Cora but has a change of heart when he sees what is at stake. He knows enough about the man Cora's mother has chosen to know that the headstrong young woman should have nothing to do with him, much less marry him.
Climbing Rainier will require all of Cora's fortitude and will lead her and Nathan to rediscover their faith in God and humanity. These two loners make unlikely partners in righting a wrong and may just discover that only together is the view most glorious.”

My Thoughts: Have you ever done something really hard. I have... but it wasn’t by choice. I loved Cora’s determination to make a goal and follow through with it. She told others her goal and that motivated her to work towards it when self-doubt crept in. She remained true to herself but faced her goal with humility. Although Cora is fictional I feel like she gave a great example of how to grow and learn. I enjoyed reading this book and appreciated each character's role. As always there are characters that I wish I could find out more about. I so desperately want Waldo to have a happy ending. This story had spunk and I enjoyed watching love grow between Cora and Nathan.

Inspiring Thoughts: “ ‘They are if they affect your trust in me. Kincaid sowed some seeds. I won’t let the weeds grow between us.’” -I liked this analogy of seeds being planted and having weeds grow in relationships. We tend to use past experiences to help us judge present and future situations but this reminded me that I need to give each situation a chance by tending to past weeds.

“Now his friendships were built on something deeper: support in good times and bad, appreciation for each other’s character and goals. Faith in a loving, merciful God.” - This is some wisdom in how to build a solid relationship.

“It was all normal, all commonplace. But it seemed odd as if she’d suddenly outgrown a favorite dress. That was it. She was bigger, stronger, than when she’d left. This life no longer fit. In fact, it felt entirely too tight.” - I liked this thought on how growth can make us feel.

I received an ARC of this book via NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review shared here.

Crack open this book and join in the adventure of a lifetime as Cora attempts to climb Mount Rainier with rugged Nathan as her guide. They will face raging rivers, rock slides and romance on their quest to reach the summit. Cora is a force to be reckoned with as she works for the suffrage movement. And Nathan is a hero you will be rooting for the whole time.

This is Regina Scott's third book in her American Wonders Collection and I loved it just as much as A Distance Too Grand (Grand Canyon) and Nothing Short of Wondrous (Yellowstone). Although this is part of a series they read as stand alones so feel free to start with any of these clean and adventurous Christian fiction books.

Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review. All opinions are my own.

"A View Most Glorious" is a Christian romance set in 1893. It's the 3rd in a series, but it's essentially a stand-alone novel. Historical details about what Tacoma and Mount Rainier were like at that time were woven into the story and brought the story to life. The main characters were engaging, complex, and reacted realistically to events. Nathan and Cora built each other up and helped each other heal from hurts from the past. Their initial conflict was over his need for instant obedience when guiding people on the mountain and Cora's determination to not let men order her about or disrespect her intelligence. However, once she realized he wasn't going to abuse his position and that he did respect her, Cora was able to trust Nathan with her life. I enjoyed how Cora was able to use her intelligence and boldness to take down a threat to her family meant to force her into an abusive marriage.

There was no sex or bad language. Overall, I recommend this enjoyable historical romance.

Coraline Baxter is a capable and independent woman who wants to climb a mountain to raise awareness for the Suffrage movement - after all, if a woman can climb a mountain, surely she is capable of voting? The only thing stopping her is the expectations of society, and those of her mother, who would rather Cora stay home and marry the rich and handsome Cash Kincaid. But Cora is determined, and with the help of her supportive stepfather Winston and her (very handsome) guide Nathan, she sets out to prove everyone wrong.

I love a good historical romance, and this had it all! Cora is a strong female protagonist and I loved her! I also really enjoyed the background of the Suffragette movement. I really enjoyed her interactions with both Nathan and Cash, and Winston is like the perfect, supportive dad! Overall, a really lovely, sweet love story about following your dreams.
