I absolutely love Suzanne Woods Fisher’s books. They draw me in and keep me turning pages to the last one. This one I loved especially as our family is a bird loving family I could relate to the birds she talked about, I could picture the birding that the characters were doing and I loved the sweet story underneath all the bird references. Wonderful book. Wonderful characters that drew me in. Wonderful story that keeps me thinking a week after I read it.

I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit but was not under any obligation to write a review. All opinions are strictly mine.

A Season on the Wind was an interesting read. It has been a while since I have read Amish fiction. I loved how it centers around birding, which is something I knew very little about before I picked up this book.

I enjoyed getting to know Penny and seeing how she supports and cares for those around her, especially her brother Micah. I did find it a bit odd that she claimed to love someone that she had met when she was 12, I'm not saying it's not possible, it just was  a little odd. I also loved getting to know Ben Zook, and learning how he grew to love birding and why he ended up leaving the Amish community. There were also some great side characters, some that i hope we get to see more of in the future.

I also enjoyed the snippets from Micah's bird log that were at the end of each chapter. It definitely added a unique element to the novel, and I enjoyed learning a bit more about the birds that are mentioned.

Overall, I really liked A Season n the Wind, and I hope to read more from Suzanne Woods Fisher in the future. 3.5/5 Stars.

Suzanne Woods Fisher takes readers back to Stoney Ridge where Penny Weaver and her younger brother, Micah, are carving out a life for themselves away from the hyper-strict Amish community they grew up in. Micah at only 18, has developed a reputation in the birding community for his ability to spot and identify unusual birds, so when he lets it be known that he has spotted a White-winged Tern, he draws the attention of renowned author and bird photographer, Ben Zook, who hires him to show him the bird. Penny is ecstatic that Ben is coming. You see, she fell in love with Ben when, at 14, she introduced him to bird watching. No other man has sparked her heart since Ben, and 20 years later, she remains single. Seeing him again, she finds her heart is still captivated by him, but what in the world happened to him that he doesn't remember her at all??

Ben Zook needs one final amazing bird for the latest book he's getting ready to publish. The White-winged Tern will do nicely, if Micah Weaver can come through and find it again for him. Even though he grew up Amish in Stoney Ridge - in fact, his father still lives just down the road from the Weaver siblings - he wants only to get in and get out with no one being the wiser to his presence. However, Micah's sister immediately recognizes him, then it's just a matter of time until more of the Stoney Ridge Amish know he is in town. What happened to make Ben turn his back on his father and his community?

I loved so many things about this story! I love bird watching in my own backyard, so I especially loved all of the little bird notes in "Micah Weaver's Bird Watching Log" that were interspersed throughout the book. The fun little stories included in each of those gave personalities to the birds, and made me look at the ones frequenting my feeders just a bit more closely. The "twist" at the end of the book was so unexpected that I was completely surprised by it. (I won't tell what it is - only that it's there.) I loved how Penny was willing to take her brother away from a bad situation to try and find a place where both of them could use their gifts, instead of having them suppressed, as their old community had done. Her strength and bravery in doing so, stands out. I also loved seeing Bishop David Stoltzfus, and how a gentle leader can change a community for the better.

I highly recommend A Season on the Wind. Suzanne Woods Fisher hasn't disappointed me yet, and this one had everything - romance, tears, new knowledge. It was a great way to spend a weekend!

A Season on the Wind is a fun read that will capture the attention of bird lovers everywhere. It comes with Birder’s Glossary and will have the reader heading to their bird guide books. It was fascinating to see Suzanne’s knowledge of birds. And for those who wanted to learn more, a portion of the book was written in the form of a bird-watching log.
I received a copy of this book from Net Galley with no obligations to write a review.

What I think you should know:
A Season on the Wind by Suzanne Woods Fisher is contemporary Amish Fiction. This book features Amish Field Guide Micah Weaver, a teenager who has a reputation for finding rare birds, his big sister Penny and Ben Zook, a world renowned author and bird expert.

What you might need to know:
Micah has a severe stutter.
Ben’s father has Alzheimer's

What I think about this book:
If you want unique Amish Fiction look no further, this is a really interesting story about a Sister who will go to amazing lengths to protect her brother and the man who she has been in love with since she was a child. When I see a dictionary at the beginning of a book, I cringe at the thought of having to be pulled out of the story to figure out what is being said. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the fact that I know nothing about birding did not take away from my enjoyment of the story. This was a really sweet story with some very deep content. It was well worth the read.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Celebrate Lit, this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own.

Delightful!

Ben Zook is a well known author in the aviary world. He grew up in an Amish household and returns to Stony Ridge to find an elusive bird which has been spotted there. His cousin Natalie, an Englisher, joins him following a divorce and job loss.

Penny Weaver and her brother Micah have been in Stony Ridge for several years after Micah was banned from a more conservative Amish order that didn't support Micah's birding activities.

All four characters are searching for something. Their journey toward peace and fulfillment kept me turning pages. One resolution was so touching it brought tears to my eyes. The novel was engaging and I loved Micah's bird log at the end of each chapter. Another lovely novel by Suzanne Woods Fisher.

It was nice to go back and visit Stoney Ridge and meet some new faces. The characters and the story line were interesting and it was nice to see some familiar characters pop up along the way. The romance between Penny and Ben was sweet and it was nice to learn a little bit about birding.

Ben has the life of his dreams. He is able to follow his passions of writing and birding. He travels back to his hometown of Stoney Ridge to take pictures of a bird he needs for his book. He makes arrangements to get in and get out, but things do not go as planned. He stays with an old friend, but soon reconnects with another old friend.

Penny knew Ben from a while back. She loves birds as much as he does, and has a fondness for Ben as well, as the meet back up The only problem is that she has to also remind him how they knew each other in the first place,

I really enjoyed reading this book and learning their story.

I received this book to read, the review is mine.

I loved this book. I am not an official birder by any stretch of the imagination, but I do enjoy watching birds come to feed at the bird feeders on my deck. So this story centered on birders caught my interest right from the start. In her book, A Season on the Wind, Suzane Woods Fisher has crafted a captivating story with realistic characters and themes of family, friendships, and forgiveness. The characters are people I would love to know in real life. They are flawed but are strong and deal with struggles that resonate with readers, the aftermath of divorce, depression, elderly parents. I liked how Penny had difficulty holding her tongue when she had things she thought should be said but knew it wasn't her place to say them. I enjoyed watching Penny and Ben's relationship change and grow throughout the story. The author expertly unwraps the past layer by layer and reminds the reader that God is at work in our lives to repair the broken and give us second chances. Readers who love contemporary Amish romance will not want to miss A Season on the Wind.

Suzanne Woods Fisher is the author of many books set in Lancaster County Pennsylvania, predominately books about the Amish who live there. Her latest book is A Season on the Wind.

This book is about birding, which is a pastime or hobby that involves finding rare birds and cataloging them. Penny Weaver, an Amish woman, and her brother Micah run a guesthouse where birders come to stay while birding. It seems that Micah has an uncanny knack for finding rare birds. He also takes visitors birding so that they can find birds that he has discovered, sometimes far away from where their normal habitat would be.

Ben Zook is a birder who has come to work with Micah to search for a rare bird that could have been seen around that area. He was raised Plain but is no longer living Plain. He is a renowned author and photographer of birds and is intrigued by Micah and his success in finding rare birds.

I thought the premise of the book was unique and interesting. It was not one of my favorite books by Ms. Fisher, but I was pleased to see that she included the information about many birds in the book. I learned a lot. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading Amish stories.

Suzanne Woods Fisher’s new book, “A Season on the Wind” is for the birds in the very best way. Woods takes the reader to the Amish community of Stoney Ridge where Ben Zook is returning in search of a rare bird. He had never wanted to return to this community, so he hires a field guide named Micah Weaver to help speed up his mission. Micah’s sister Penny Weaver gave her heart to Ben many years before, but he cannot seem to remember.

The character development in this book is outstanding. The romance will make you melt. This is a sweet and enjoyable novel.

A Season on the Wind by Suzanne Woods Fisher is her latest book and a definite read if you love Amish fiction.
When Ben Zook returns to his Amish home to hire Micah Weaver, a local field guide to help him find a tern that he wants to capture pictures of for his latest book, the last thing he wants is for people to recognize him. However in all his planning he forgets to plan for Micah's sister Penny, who years ago introduced him to his love for birding.
Penny has always hoped that Ben would return home, to his Amish roots and to her, but it seems he has absolutely no memory of her.
I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

I was given an ARC from the author/publisher. All conclusions are mine and mine alone.

Birds are very fascinating to watch as they have different personalities and quirks. This book makes birds come alive between the pages as they take center stage in A Season in the Wind. Although the book is centered around bird watching, there is so much more going on behind the scene.

Penny feels as if she has waited a long time to meet her long lost friend whom she introduced to bird watching and got to know long ago. Meanwhile, Ben is trying to complete his newest manuscript with a rare sighting of a bird to finish it off. Natalie, his cousin, has decided to tag along although birds have little to do with her purpose in coming to Stoney Ridge. Micah is trying his hand at becoming a reliable guide for bird watching but the elusive bird is not making his job very easy!

There are many themes interlaced within the book while dealing with difficult circumstances. The one that seemed to stand out the most was forgiveness. Not just forgiveness towards someone but moving forward in the midst of forgiveness which sometimes can be the harder task.

I had a difficult time putting down the book and always looked forward to fitting in another chapter. I must admit I previously enjoyed watching birds but the book made me even more in love with watching birds. Now I am eager to find a bigger variety of birds if I just listen.

I would really recommend this book. I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own and I was not required to leave a positive review.

I was so excited to see another book by Suzanne Woods Fisher set in Stoney Ridge. I’ve read all the others and loved them and was looking forward to another one.
This is an exciting Amish book series.
The characters are realistic and flawed just like we all are. I know I enjoy reading about characters who I can relate to, which I easily can in this book.
This is a bit different than her usual books. It has a lot of information about birds, which I have learned a lot about.Even non-birders can understand.
I also enjoyed seeing the birding logs in each chapter.
We have several themes going here with forgiveness a strong one.
I always enjoy this author’s books and this one is excellent.

I enjoy birds and bird watching so this book by Suzanne Woods Fisher was delightful with all the descriptions and information about various birds. Each chapter contains a page from Micah’s bird-watching log and it was a fun way of learning something new.

This book isn’t your typical Amish story as it combines Amish and English characters living in community together. I find it very interesting to see how each thinks of the other and the differences between them. Yet they supported and cared for each other through some challenging circumstances. Strong, well developed characters made this an enjoyable read. I’d love to visit Stoney Ridge and stay in Penny’s cabin. But as you read, there’s a twist I never expected and it really surprised me.

Although the story is a bit slow moving, that was okay in this instance as it gave time for the plot to build. If you enjoy Amish novels with clean romance then I can recommend A Season on the Wind.

“A Season on the Wind” by Suzanne Woods Fischer is interspersed with heartfelt warmth and unforeseeable conflict, delightfully laced with humor, and with the evergreen possibility of rekindled love burning brightly. As free as a bird flying in the sky, Ben Zook’s search for a rare White-winged Tern takes him against his wishes back to his Amish home in Stoney Ridge. Ben hires a field guide, Micah Weaver to photograph the elusive bird, hoping to leave Stoney Ridge before he is recognized by anyone. However, he didn’t reckon with Micah’s sister, Penny who always hoped Ben would return to Stoney Ridge where his Amish roots lay, and maybe back into her life, too. Unfortunately, Ben has no memory of Penny and cannot recall her at all. “A Season on the Wind” is enchanting and multifaceted, with Suzanne’s perfectly relatable voice resounding in multi-layered dimensions, inviting readers to be a part of the story, which is utterly engaging, warm and heartfelt, bold and charming all at the same time. “A Season On The Wind” is a compelling, enjoyable and entertaining read, in which Suzanne Woods Fisher draws attention to birds and bird-watchers, while weaving a heartwarming tale of human life and nature.

It was nice to go back and visit Stoney Ridge again, an Amish community that I have grown quite fond of through the various series by author Fisher. This is Penny Weaver's and her brother Micah's story along with Ben Zook and his Englisher cousin Natalie's.

On the outside the town looks peaceful and like a piece of heaven itself. But the people, especially these four and the ones they care about are having issues and this story is full of revelations that quite surprised me. For one Penny hasn't seen Ben Zook for over twenty years, but she has always pined for him and has waited for him to come back. When he does, he doesn't remember her at all. Why?

Then there is Natalie, the Englisher, who has just watched her marriage dissolve in divorce and is trying to put her life back together with a new future. Maybe that could include a new love? I enjoyed this story which does deal with some heavy topics as revelations are revealed.

The reason Ben and Natalie have come to Stoney Ridge in the first place is to locate an elusive bird. I have never really thought much about birding, but Micah's journal which has a place between chapters, was a fascinating look at this particular hobby.

I received a copy of this novel from the publisher. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.

What a sweet story!
A Season on the Wind by Suzanne Woods Fisher is a story about forgiveness and finding your way home. This Amish story carries readers away into the world of birding and second chances. It’s the first time I’ve read a story solely focused on this sport. Micah Weaver has a talent for finding rare birds, but when he fibs on a report, he sets off a series of events that will keep him on his toes through the rest of the novel.
Penny and Ben share a love of birds, and a history that Ben doesn’t remember. This, in itself, would be enough to keep me reading! But, the story, characters and easy narrative blended together, creating a multi-faceted, fascinating story.
Bird-watching journal entries at the start of each chapter give readers insights to Micah’s character, and reflects reality in nature. It was fun trying to anticipate what would happen next based on those entries.
Amish stories are not my go-to books to read, but I quite enjoyed this one.
If you love birding, romance and a good story, check out A Season on the Wind, by Suzanne Woods Fisher.

This was one of my favorite books that I have read this year. I always love books by this author but this one was one of my favorites. I loved Ben and Penny and Micah. I loved all of the twists and turns that Penny and Ben have in their friendship. If you like birds even just a little than this book will lead you to want to know even more about them. This is a book of friendship and some romance. I received a copy of this book from Revell for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

The author continues to write books that deeply touch the heart. This one is no exception. She combines such realistic fictional characters in life situations that come across as alive and their challenges as easy to relate to. She also includes details that offer new knowledge to the reader, with this novel focusing on observing birds and information about many species. One character’s bird journal entries are interspersed throughout the text of this redemptive tale. And the colorful, intriguing people in the novel form their own flock of unique specimens amid their personal dramas. My one disappointment was the romance with a woman recently divorced, especially in an Amish story, because I believe as they do that marriage is a covenant before God until one partner dies, so a divorced person is not free to remarry. I would think the Amish characters would mention that. I think this would make a great book club choice. I received a copy from Celebrate Lit. All opinions are my own.
