Elizabeth Goddard has done it again...another wow-I-did-not-see-that-coming kind of book. Having read the first book in the Rocky Mountain Courage series, I knew what to expect, and was not disappointed. The story starts out with an intentional boating collision and the edge-of-the-seat action continues until the end of the story. The characters are colorful and riveting, as well as realistic and either likable, relatable, or despicable. It was nice to catch up with a few of the characters from the first book in the series, Present Danger. Erin and Nathan had been involved in circumstances previously, and things did not end well. I enjoyed watching their relationship begin again and evolve into more than colleagues solving a couple of cold cases that might be related. I like how the author revealed things layer by layer, keeping me wondering how scenarios were ever going to work out. And when the truth was finally revealed it was quite surprising. Readers who love exciting, heart-stopping mysteries will not want to miss Deadly Target. It kept me eagerly reading until the very last page. I am sure hoping there is another book to come in the series.
I won an advanced reading copy of the book through LibraryThing and was not required to write a review. The opinions are my own.

I really enjoyed this story and it certainly kept me on the edge of my seat, but I am only giving it four stars because it’s so farfetched. No way could all this stuff happen to one person. Also, at the end there’s a bit of an information dump that had so many names and connections that I stopped trying to follow at some point. If you like your suspense with a bit of romance, you’ll probably enjoy this book.

Wow! What a page turner! This book had me on the edge of my seat from page one!
From the moment Criminal Psychologist Erin Larson and her friend Carissa have a mysterious boating accident that could have ended their lives, to the next second when Erin’s ex, Nathan Campbell, calls her to tell her that her mother had a suicide attempt, I couldn’t put the book down!
Erin leaves her job to take care of her mother in Montana. She continues with her Podcast Missing Children, where she focuses on solving missing persons cold cases.
Nathan’s father surprisingly reappears in his life after many years of absence and little contact, only to take him fishing, confessing him about a cold case he is working on and how lives are at stake, and to trust no one, and suddenly he is getting shot in the head. While fighting for his life in the ICU, Nathan determines to investigate what his father was talking about and who may have tried to kill him. There’s only one person, who’s back in town, and with expertise in the camp, Erin. So, he turns to her. Erin is trying to figure out the motives behind her mother’s suicide attempt, and something is not adding up. Together, she and Nathan will try to uncover dangerous secrets that may cost them their lives. But they both have also secrets of their past that they must bring to light if they truly want to make a team, trust each other, and maybe let their old flame bloom again, as it was meant to be…
This was an amazing story! The plot was so captivating, with so many twists and turns, so many suspicious characters, that I couldn’t put it down trying to discover by myself who was the true criminal or criminals. The author definitely had some surprises coming my way. I have to say there were things that I didn’t expect and made the story even more unputdownable! The characters were relatable and loveable! I loved how their relationship rekindles. And how Nathan grows more and more protective of Erin. The romance was clean, yet swoony! They really were, not only a perfect team but a perfect match! And Erin was so relatable too, her courage and determination to do what’s right, to bring out the light, and put herself in dangers way for other’s sake. There’s also a faith inspired message throughout the story about trusting God with the direction of your life and to trust Him to be Bigger than evil and capable of bring good out of the pain and bad things that happen to us. It made me think and reflect about my own trust in God. Also about forgiveness and giving second chances.
Definitely a story I highly recommend! If you can read Present Danger first, I suggest it, even if this book stands completely alone, but you get a richer experience if you start from the first. This second story surpasses even the first one, which I already loved! A must edge of your seat inspirational read!
I received a complimentary copy from the Publisher via NetGalley but wasn’t required to post a positive review. This is my honest and unbiased opinion.

Well done. A great story of intrigue and danger. Nathan and Erin have a past relationship and when they are entwined together to solve a couple of mysteries they may have a second chance romance. Nearly escaping death they rely on each other to keep their families safe and to find out who and why someone is trying to kill them. A shocking revelation when revealed will either make Erin flee or fight. Nathan is determined to make her stay this time. I received a copy through Netgalley and my review is voluntary.

Criminal psychologist Erin Larson's dreams of a successful career come to a screeching halt when she nearly loses her own life in a boating accident on Puget Sound and then learns that her mother tried to commit suicide. She leaves her job as a criminal psychologist to care for her mother in Montana. At least she is able to produce her podcast, which focuses on solving missing persons cold cases.

Nathan Campbell's father was investigating such a case when he was shot, and now Nathan needs to enlist Erin's help to solve the case. She's good at what she does. The only problem? She's his ex.
As the two dig deeper, it becomes clear that they, too, are being targeted--and that the answers to their questions are buried deep within the past Erin struggles to explain and longs to forget.

My review: This book had so many twists and turns it kept me guessing the entire time I was reading it. Why is one case got so many people concerned and why are people dying because of it? It all goes back to Erin's past that she doesn't seem to remember. I highly recommend this book to all those who like a good mystery.

I was given this book by Revell Publishing via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way.

This was a very intriguing story with lots of great characters and subplots. It had me in suspense and my heart pounding throughout. Erin Larson had some secrets she had kept from her former love, Nathan Campbell. She still held them close to her chest. In one short span of time she had a close call, Nathan’s dad was shot and her mother tried to commit suicide. Trying to find out who shot his dad and why and was her mishap an accident or intentional and worrying about her mom had Erin all stressed and tied up in knots. Nathan unwittingly got Erin involved in the solving of his dad’s shooting which brought several close calls for them both. Lots of action, guns blazing, and an ending I never saw coming. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough and wished I had the ability to read faster. But I also hated to see it end because of the friends I made with Erin and Nathan. If you like action, suspense, a little mystery and secrets to uncover and a touch of romance you won’t be disappointed in the least with this novel. Elizabeth Goddard has written a winner in my opinion, the best one yet!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher through the author but was not required to write a review positive or otherwise.

A suspense filled Christian romance with lots of twists and turns and one that I did not see coming at all toward the end. Another great book in the Rocky Mountain Courage series. Erin Larson is a criminal psychologist who is well on track to having the successful career that she craves along with a podcast involving cold cases. . And then all in the space of one day all of that changes. Nathan Campbell is a detective headed for the top and then in the space of mere seconds the fishing trip he is on with his estranged father takes an awful turn when his father, who has been investigating a cold case, is shot right before he gets to tell Nathan something important. Nathan needs help if he wants to find his father's shooter but is reluctant to ask Erin since she is his ex-fiancee. Can the two of them find the answers they so desperately need while trying to maintain control of their hearts? I am eagerly looking forward to the next book in this series. I want to thank NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review and later Revell and Eizabeth Goddard for a copy of the finished book. #DeadlyTarget #NetGalley.

Deadly Target is a fast-moving and well-written romantic suspense. The characters, Erin and Nathan, are truly likable and fleshed out. Their second chance at romance has to be fought for. The tight plot has more twists and turns than I can count. The suspense is off the charts. I highly recommend this to readers of clean romantic suspense and inspirational romantic suspense. I would definitely read more by this author. Elizabeth Goddard's skill in writing makes reading her work a joy. I received a copy through NetGalley and am sharing my opinion of this very exciting story.

I was very happy to get my hands on this awesome novel! I always thought there was more to Erin and Nathan's story! I wasn't disappointed!
This is a fast paced novel that will make you bite your nails in suspense! I simply love stories like these.
Elizabeth Goddard is also one of my to go authors for suspense novels like this. She's a wonderful storyteller that pulls you into the story before you know it! It makes for a pleasant afternoon/evening and I'll even admit that parts of this story had me looking over my shoulder at times lol! Especially if I read at night!
5 stars forthe excellent writing and for keeping me on the edge of my seat with Erin and Nathan's strory.
My thanks for a copy of this book. I was NOT required to write a positive review. All opinions are my own.

In Deadly Target by Elizabeth Goddard, Erin Larson is a criminal psychologist who has a particular interest in solving cold cases and recently started a podcast series to highlight those cases. But there is much, much more to her story. After barely surviving a boating accident, she receives a message that her mom is in the hospital after a suicide attempt - conveyed by the guy she had walked away from 5 years earlier. Erin heads home to Montana to take care of her mom, and the suspense accelerates on every front.

Elizabeth Goddard writes in the tradition of Irene Hannon, Colleen Coble and Teri Blackstock - and she does not disappoint. Character development is good, and suspense builds on every page. I certainly want to read more of her work.

Elizabeth Goddard has become one of my go to suspense authors because of her books like Deadly Target. Not only is her writing beautifully descriptive but her plots pull me in quickly and hold my attention to the very end.

Deadly Target is pretty much a suspense masterpiece. With one seemingly unconnected deadly event after another and long buried secrets that are eventually revealed, I found it difficult to guess who was responsible and how the victims were chosen.

Another second chance romance trope features Erin and Nathan whose previous relationship ended badly. As they work together to stop the threats against the lives of family members and even themselves, can their past love be reignited? Action, danger, and suspense abound as Nathan and Erin must depend on each other and the Lord to stay alive long enough to put the responsible person behind bars. Several suspects surface during the many twists and turns in the plot along with a surprise or two.

I thoroughly enjoyed Deadly Target and look forward to the final book of the series.

Erin is a criminal psychologist working in Washington state. When she is called home to Montana to care for her mother who attempted suicide, her whole life is turned upside down. Nathen is the man she left behind.  He works for the sheriff’s department.  When his father comes to town to confide about a case that  he has been investigating, Nathan witnesses him getting shot. Now as Nathan and Erin work to discover who shot his father, the two are constantly in danger.  Can they repair their relationship, find out who is behind the shooting and trust God to lead them and protect them?

A fast paced suspenseful novel by one of my favorite Christian authors!!!  This book was a stay up late, get no sleep kind of read. Oh the struggles…dark buried secrets, murder, broken hearts, not knowing who to trust and trusting God to show you the right path. Love, love , love this author’s writing. An awesome book for your holiday break.

Elizabeth Goddard does not disappoint with the second installment of her Rocky Mountain Courage series. The storyline contains several cold case mysteries and many moving parts, but is easily understandable. The intersection of each piece to the puzzle is not easily solved, and revealed in the end. Deadly Target is a complex, original stand alone, yet inspires reading of the entire series. I eagerly look forward to the next book.

I received a copy of the book without obligation. This review is my opinion.

Deadly Target (Rocky Mountain Courage #2) is an action-packed thrilling romantic suspense read by Elizabeth Goddard. It is also the first book I have read by this author but now I am planning to catch up on the series with the first book. By the end of the first chapter Erin Larson’s life has been put in danger with no clear answer as to why. It is that way for much of the novel. Like a puzzle with pieces to fit together.

Nathan Campbell is part of the puzzle. In fact he is two parts of it. Now his father and he are part of the pieces with the danger, the cold case, and the romance. He is also part of Erin’s past story with their coming back to work on solving what is happening. Quite an intriguing suspenseful read with their romance blended into the plot too.

So now I am a new fan of Elizabeth Goddard. I can recommend Deadly Target to others who enjoyed Irene Hannon, Lisa Harris or Susan May Warren who also have written Christian romantic suspense.

The publisher through Net Galley provided a digital ARC. I have voluntarily decided to read and review, giving my personal opinions and thoughts.

This book was so hard to put down. I had no clue what could possibly happen next, and I loved every minute of it. Goddard took my by surprise with many unexpected twists and turns I couldn’t see coming. It was interesting following Erin and Nathan as they worked together to try and solve a long past cold case. But the cold case seems to have ties to today, and someone doesn’t want them alive to figure it out. Will past hurts and grudges keep them from solving what may be their most important case to date?

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Romantic Suspense. There was just the right combination of edge of your seat suspense and sigh worthy romance. I received a complimentary copy of this book from Revell Publishers and was in no way forced to post a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.

Deadly Target is an edge-of-your-seat read. I finished it in two days, anxious to discover answers to this multi-faceted mystery. Abductions, explosions, shootings, vehicle incidents, and more drive this story forward at the same time as they generate more questions for the main characters and the readers as well. While the danger is palpable, fear is much less so because of the faith the characters demonstrate. I recommend this book to romantic suspense fans, both those who prefer secular books and those who prefer Christian fiction.

I am grateful to have received a complimentary copy of Deadly Target from Revell via NetGalley without obligation. All opinions expressed here are my own.

Another edge of your seat thriller by Elizabeth Goddard! This story captivates you with its drama, danger, and suspense from the opening pages. Full of twists and turns with long held secrets, dirty cops, and the Mob to keep your heart racing long after you close the book!

Deadly Target tells the story of Erin Larson who is one of the trio of friends forged when their parents are killed in a deadly SAR helicopter rescue mission. She settles her life in Seattle party to escape her failed relationship with Nathan and her secret past. As circumstances throw them back together in their small hometown, they have to figure out if they can put their fractured past behind to solve the case before them.

This book was hard to put down! It lived up to the expectations I had after the first book in series and then some. I cannot wait for book three to read the elusive Alex’s story!

I was given a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley all opinions expressed are completely my own.

Elizabeth Goddard once again combines intricately crafted plot, fast-paced action, nail-biting suspense with lovable characters to create a story that will take you on a wild journey to a surprising and totally unexpected ending. Though it is second book in the series, it can be read as a stand-alone.

Erin and Nathan are enjoyable characters but the book is definitely plot-driven. Cold cases, shadowy pasts, and unknown threats loom over Erin and Nathan as they dodge disasters and attempt to untangle the series of events, injuries, and deaths. If you enjoy romantic suspense, this book will hit the spot.

I received the book from the publisher and was under no obligation to post a positive comment. All opinions are solely my own.
