The style of this book is very different from the others by this author and not necessarily in a positive way. Perhaps it's my age--I definitely have a lot less patience these days for things I find tedious or boring. If a reader doesn't mind whingy children and sibling discord mixed with a bit of interesting bookshop work then they might like this new chic-lit-ish style novel set in Edinburgh, Scotland. The plot seemed solid enough, and I really enjoyed a number of other books by this author, but this one seemed like it must have been a chore to write; it's missing all the light happiness and tight writing of the others. For me, it was a DNF.
