This was an unexpected genius of a book. An originally twisted plot line with a character so skillfully developed, you'd love to join her fan club!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for giving me a free advanced copy of this book to read and review. I enjoyed the time I spent reading this book but I wouldn’t necessarily read it again. The pacing sometimes felt slow and I didn’t always feel connected to the characters.

They are the perfect couple but one night he doesn’t come home. They are saying he’s a serial killer and she was his accomplice. Was she? This was an exciting read into what she knew if anything.

Compelling debut! Beth Hardcastle is waiting for her husband, Tom, to arrive home from work. Meanwhile two police officers knock on the door and insist upon waiting for Tom. Beth’s husband finally arrives home, late and disheveled. The officers want to question him about a murder. From there we enter an interrogation between the officers and Tom. Was Tom involved in these grisly crimes? How well does Beth really know her husband? This story was fun to read, although a bit of a slow burn. Cleverly executed with some twists I didn’t see coming. Thank you Netgalley, Harper 360 and the author for this eARC in exchange for my honest review. This book is available now.

I did not read The Serial Killer's Wife by Alice Hunter through an educator lens.

The Serial Killer's Wife by Alice Hunter was okay. I wouldn't go out and say it's a must read for everyone. I felt the writing was a bit choppy and I wasn't a fan of this or the awkward dialogue that seemed to be in the book. I also found Beth to be pretty unlikeable and some of the characters to be underdeveloped and flat. However, I did really appreciate the premise of the book and the various POVs from the characters.

The Serial Killers Wife is a decent read. It isn’t as fully fleshed out as I had hoped and can be disjointed at times. Overall it still was an interesting read. It is a good addition to the genre.

This was a complex, head spinning, absolutely disturbing, twisty and truly a wonderful psychological thriller! I wish this book would’ve been longer but it was definitely well worth the read. All your questions you’re thinking in your head as the story goes on, don’t worry they will all be worth it and answered in the end and let me tell you you’ll love it!

I find myself gravitating to this type of thriller, but The Serial Killer's Wife left me wishing for more.

In this story, Beth's life is in shambles after her husband Tom has been arrested and charged with the disappearance of his ex-girlfriend. Beth has to deal with the whispers and rumors from people in their small town while staying strong for her young daughter. Not only does it seem that her husband has been hiding things from her, but now Beth has to face the reality that her husband might be, indeed, a serial killer.

While I thought that the plot of the book was quite interesting, I couldn't really get into the storylines created to move the story forward. I found that the writing style was too worldly for my taste, and many of the details introduced were either abandoned or not explored enough. I also found that the plot was quite predictable if you are paying attention to some of the details in the story.

Beth's character wasn't quite likable, and I found myself rolling my eyes to some of her decisions. I was not amused by how she approached her new life, and I only felt empathy towards Poppy, her young daughter.

Overall, I wish the book had taken a different direction and wasn't as long as it was. It is the type of story that could've been told in fewer pages.

This book was so awkward and hard to get into for the first 1/3 or so of the book. It did pick up from there. Once it picked up, and the writing style became less copy, it was a decent thriller.

This story started out very well. However, it didn’t take long until it slowed down and was very easy to guess what came next.
I didn’t care for the characters which just made the ending ten times worse.
I hope this author releases another book so I can giver get another try. This just wasn’t it for me.

Beth and Tom appear to have the perfect marriage until the day Tom is visited by Police. They have come to question him about the murder of his ex girlfriend Katie. Tom and Beth have a daughter Poppy and Beth owns a successful business, a Cafe and the local people have accepted her into their small community. But now that's about to change. Tom is arrested. Beth is trying to protect her daughter against the rumors from everyone who think Beth must have known what her husband had done. Beth starts to question whether she really know her husband even though they have been married for eight years the question is in the back of her mind. Did he do it?!

To say this book is chilling wouldn't be doing it justice. Alice Hunter spins a tale so thrilling that I highly recommend readers only pick it up before noon, because you won't fall asleep if you read it any later. Don't miss if you need a good book to leave you on the edge of your seat!

This book far exceeded my already high expectations based on the story alone. This book was fast-paced and before I knew it, I was at the end and hated it went by so quickly. If only I could go back and read it again for the first time!

Not as good as I wanted it to be but entertaining nonetheless.

This story was fine, even clever at times. It starts great and then moves very slowly for a bit too long. The characters are extremely unlikable. The dialogue was generally inorganic, very odd. Those ticks aside, the premise is good. The twists were fun, even after waiting for them. A promising debut. I would look at more by this author.

Thanks to NetGalley, the author and Avon Books UK for a copy in exchange for a review.

Beth Hardcastle is unamused that her husband Tom is home late from work. It’s two hours past their daughter Poppy’s bedtime and he hasn’t so much as called to say he’d be running late. She’s relieved when she hears someone at the door. Finally, she thinks… except it’s not Tom. It’s the police. And as soon as Tom does arrive home, they’re whisking him away to be questioned about a murder. Suddenly Tom being late is the least of Beth’s worries and as he continues to be held by police, she is forced to confront that her dreamy small town life could be shattered. And, of course, that she may in fact be married to a murderer…

Oh my goodness, this HAD to be one of the WORST "thrillers" I have read all year. This had such promising aspects to it, the title alone had me itching to read it, but it was a total FLOP! All this book consists of is Beth, the wife, finding out that her husband has been arrested for his ex-girlfriends' murder, and her never-ending ramblings. So BORING! There was nothing AT ALL thrilling about it.

This one had me intrigued from the very beginning. A quick read in alternating POV’s and I couldn’t stop reading.
.
Beth and Tom have the perfect marriage, perfect daughter, perfect house, perfect neighborhood. That is until he was arrested for suspicion of murdering his ex fiancé.
.
Everyone says he’s a monster and what did she really know? This was such a fast read with a great twist at the end.
.
Thank you #Harper360 and #Netgalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review

A slower-paced thriller that comes at you out of nowhere with twists I could've never predicted. Through multiple points-of-view and flashback chapters, Alice Hunter takes readers into the perfect lives of Tom and Beth Hardcastle. Things in the Hardcastle house are not as they seem, while Beth has been managing her bakery and coffee shop, Tom's been commuting for work, at least that's what she thought he'd been doing. It all changes when, right after Beth has promised their young daughter that he'd be home soon, that Tom doesn't return on time and the cops come knocking.

The Serial Killer's Wife isn't the heart-pounding thriller I expected, but more of a lazy read with just the right amount of gotcha! moments. Beth, the main character perspective we read and wife of Tom, isn't my favorite character, she's as self-centered as they come. Tom is, thanks to some very interesting flashbacks, clearly a sneaky man with a lust for some unsavory activities. The true victim in all this is little Poppy and the friends that Beth walks all over. That said, I remained engaged the entire time and enjoyed the lighter thriller.
