Very angsty. Nail biting good. I think everyone will live it as much as I did. New author to me. But I hope to read more books by author

The story is told mainly from Beth's point of view as she questions what she does, and doesn’t know about her husband, while trying to protect their 3 year old daughter, Poppy. I found the first half of the book quite slow, but it does speed up in the second half, and there are a few interesting twists, that kept me reading. I was also surprised by the motives and the how of what happened.

Tom and Beth Hardcastle are living an idyllic life in a small English Village. That comes to a crashing halt one Monday night, when the police arrive at their door, asking to speak to Tom about an eight year old missing persons case. This novel is hard to review without giving too much away. It definitely hooked me, and I read it quickly. You could feel that it was too straight forward to not have a big twist toward the end. Astute readers will probably be able to see it before the reveal, but I chose to not think about it too hard and allow the story to unfold. This is a story told from multiple POVs, with a non-linear time line that is clear and easy to follow. There are themes of violence against women and intimate partner violence in this book, and the author does a good job capturing the dynamics of those relationships. The questions of "why does she stay" and what does it take for a woman to leave a violent situation are dealt with honestly, which I greatly appreciate as someone who works with women who have experienced this type of trauma. I recommend this book if you are looking for a way to spend a rainy fall afternoon curled up with a warm beverage of your choice, a blanket, and a story. Thank you @netgalley and @harper360 for an eARC of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I recently saw someone else's review of this on a page I am a part of and I think we might have read different books. The ending to this blew me away! Definately did not see this coming. Every little thing that makes you go "eh that's kind of weird.." gets explained later.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for a digital arc in exchange for an honest review.

Beth Hardcastle's life is upended when the police come knocking on her door.

Her husband, Tom, a wonderful father, and loving husband, is taken for questioning over the death of his ex-girlfriend Katie, who disappeared eight years ago.

Beth is shocked. Is her husband guilty?

Beth can only think that her wonderful life is imploding. She has to protect her daughter, Poppy, the best way she can while keeping her store open too. Living in a small town, she knows people can turn on them in the blink of an eye.

Thankfully, there is Adam. He has gone through something awful too and he seems to understand her and wants to help them.

But is Beth hiding something? Does she know more than she should?

A great debut that kept me up at night with some twists that surprised me! Great writing and characters that you care for. Highly recommend this fun and addictive read. Alice Hunter is an author to watch out for.

The Serial Killer's Wife will be released on August 3rd. I received an e-galley from the publisher through NetGalley.

Alice Hunter certainly knows how to weave a tale! I loved the alternating chapters from Beth, Tom, Katie, and an unknown victim. I loooove those italicized chapters that keep me so intrigued and wanting to know more! I loved theorizing throughout and I loved that my theories kept changing and morphing. At the end of it all, I triumphantly declared (to myself), “HA! I was RIGHT!!!” (Nevermind that it was legit one one 87 theories I had going. We will pretend that I’m just that brilliant. ;)
I can’t wait to read what Ms. Hunter has in store for us next!

This was an interesting book. Somewhat predictable, but not in a bad way. It came from several different POV, which I really liked. It is very obviously set in the UK, just from the ways things are said and called. I find it fascinating how each society calls things completely different words or phrases. Usually it is easy to figure out, and in this book, that is the case. I found that the book had a good storyline, but I think that the characters could have been developed a bit more, but I was able to figure things out. I did have a hard time putting it down. I wanted to know what was going to happen. It was written quite well, especially for a debut novel. I would be interested to read more from this author. I do hope she continues!

When Beth’s husband, Tom, is late getting home from work one evening, she knew something was amiss. When two police detectives come to her door, she is left in utter shock! Tom is under investigation for the disappearance of his old girlfriend. Tom is a loving husband and doting father, there has to be a mistake. As the investigation continues more evidence stacks up and Tom is charged with murder. Beth is left alone in the small village they have recently moved to with their 3 year old daughter. As the case progresses, Beth leans on her neighbor, Adam, who has his own tragic past. Could Tom possible be guilty? Does Beth have her own set of secrets? While I saw the twist coming, this was still an enjoyable debut novel from Alice Hunter.

This thriller had a bit of “are you serious” about it.
It all starts out with a knock on the door by police who want to question Beth’s husband about the death of an ex girlfriend that happened years before. The time in the police station for questioning turns into days…..seems that there are too many unanswered questions. One in particular that you KNEW the answer to but was willing to live with it.
   Really ? You knew?
With the notoriety comes the paparazzi, at your door. The neighbors offering sometimes kindness, sometimes looks and comments. How can Beth cope? How fortunate for Beth there is a widower with a child that is also struggling w life. A little scheming on Beth’s part and he becomes a major part of the equation.
The reader feels badly for her situation with her husband’s problem until the reader realizes that the sequence of events is too well planned.
While I did enjoy the book, I found myself rolling my eyes at some very absurd moments. The twist at the end finished it off perfectly.

Beth and Tom are living the perfect middle class life. Beth gets home that evening and the police come knocking and want to talk to her husband, Tom. There has been a murder and Tom is the suspect. Does Beth believe her husband or not?
A really interesting book that keeps you intrigued the whole time. I would recommend this one to anyone that likes a good suspense.

I loved everything about The Serial Killers Wife. It kept me on my toes the entire time and I really enjoyed this story. The short chapters were a huge plus too.

I absolutely loved this book. Twists and turns through out. I loved all of the different perspectives, it really helped get inside all of the characters minds. It really had my mind in a quandary. I kept thinking at first, okay maybe Tom really isn't guilty then something else would happen and then I would be like yep he's guilty then you get Tom's perspective and then think again well according to his thoughts maybe he really isn't. Maybe it really was all an accident.

And wow! That ending!!! Phenomenal! I truly did not see that coming. It was like a roller coaster for your eyes and your brain. Up and down. Side to side. Loopty loop. What a rush! I have seen in some other reviews that they thought it was just so so. I am not sure what book they were reading because there wasn't a boring second in this book. Yes, we had some day to day scenes. You have to have that to show Beth and Poppy's life. Without some kind of world building you have no characters. But man! The emotions I felt through out! Trepidation, fear, anxiety, loathing, anger, disgust, inquisitiveness, happiness, worry, shock, and awe. I just wanted to keep reading it.

And I so hoping that there will be another one after this. I could see this becoming a series. This is the way I love my thrillers. Gripping, absolutely gripping. I couldn't put it down. Eventually you have to sleep but I still finished it in two days. I believe I have found a new author that I am just going to absolutely love. If all of her future books are going to be like this then I think we will be in a happy book relationship forever lol.

Absolutely thrilling. I highly recommend, especially for those of us that love a good book that makes you think. That massages your brain. This one is a do not miss!

Thank you to the author and to NetGalley for ability to read and review. All my opinions are honest and are my own.

The premise of this book grabbed me right away. I really identified with the main character at the beginning, as I am a wife and mother, myself.

I was hoping for more of a creep factor, given the summary, and pacing issues kept me from giving this book a higher rating.

I would like to thank Alice Hunter, Harper 360, Avon Publishing, and Netgalley for providing me this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This book is amazing, and it kept me on the edge of my seat from the first chapter on. The plot twists left me speechless. This was one of those books that you will read and ask yourself “what just happened”, and you will go back to read a second time. It is a fast paces thriller and will hold your interest, it doesn’t fizzle out at all.

I loved it and this is a stunning debut. Alice Hunter is extremely talented and I look forward to future books!

Good read! What if you found out your husband could be a serial killer? The shock, fear, and search for the truth and the need to protect your child. A perfect family or so she thought, now she has to deal with her husband being arrested and the media hounding her every move. Even threats from strangers! Beth has to decide if she can even support someone who may have murdered? She has to protect three year old Poppy, who loves and adores her daddy. Lots of unusual twists in this book! This is the first book I’ve read by Alice Hunter, she writes well and keeps you interested. I do recommend this book and thank HarperCollins, NetGalley and Alice Hunter for this entertaining book. This is my honest opinion.

The cover for this book is what really drew me in, but the writing is what kept me reading. There were tons of great plot twists, especially the end! I really enjoyed this one.

That ENDING....but it honestly didn't 100% surprise me. Throughout the book, there was always something nagging at the back of my mind about Beth as she narrated her experience. Something was a little off but I couldn't put my finger on it. Finding out your husband is a serial killer is beyond comprehensible but she seemed to have it "too" much together. The same person she was trying to get away from is the same person in which she shared despicable behavior and a selfish, immoral conscience. Karma is a b@tch!! Great quick read!!

This was a good book but at times moved slowly and got tedious. Surprise ending made it worthwhile. I expected something but not that.

The Serial Killer’s Wife by Alice Hunter

Beth and Tom Hardcastle have the perfect life! They’re the envy of their friends and family! They have a perfect marriage, perfect house, perfect family...

But is it really that perfect? Could there be secrets?

Tom is late home from work. Where could he be? There’s a knock at the door. Two police officers. Has something happened to Tom?

Katie Williams, Tom’s ex, was murdered. Eight years ago. Did he have anything to do with it?

This book will have you questioning how well you know people!

This book had my attention from the beginning as I wanted to know how the book was going to play out!! I do feel the first half kind of dragged on though. At the end the twists kept me going! Enjoyed reading this book!

Thank you Alice Hunter, Harper 360 - Avon and NetGalley for the advance copy to read in return for my honest review!
