As a frequent traveller this book fascinated me. I'm obsessed with planes and which ones I;m flying. I like the A380 and a 777 when it's done right. This book is truly. terrifying read. This book gives a detailed account a about the airplane industry and its foundations as well as in depth look at Boeing. I was rivited from page one and it's funny but sad to say, "this book could save your life." Most of us know about the two 737MAX's that went down but this books tells you how it all could have been prevented. It's a story about greed, cronyism, and just plain stupidity. To think that this info about the plane would not get out is just crazy. The whistleblowers at Boeing should be commended and the people resposible should go to jail and not get golden parchutes. Every person who is thinking of getting on a 737MAX should read this very important book. I will say it's one of my favorite books of 2021. Thank you to the publishers and Netgalley for the advanced copy.

Really enjoyed this deep dive into the 737 Max scandal and everything that lead Boeing to that point. Books about corporate malfeasance are always interesting to me, even though I don't have a lot of business or technical knowledge. I think there's something about the hubris common to these stories that can appeal to anyone. And in this case, I grew up with relatives who worked for Boeing as engineers and I heard stories of how things weren't the way they used to be even then, so I was also able to put my memories together with the events as they happened in the book and really came to understand what it was like working there. But even for someone without a personal connection, a company like Boeing is familiar to so many of us and a company that we like to think we can trust, which is part of why this scandal was so shocking. Fascinating and cautionary tale of the consequences of flawed corporate culture.

Well reported book on what I can only describe as the decline of Boeing. While the focus is on the relatively recent crashes of the two 737 Max aircraft, the book goes far back in Boeing's history to show the factors that led to poorly designed and tested aircraft.
