BOOK REVIEW:
Ghosts of the Past by Mark Mitten
.
Synopsis: When a body is discovered in a mine shaft, high in the mountains above Quandary, Sheriff Breckenridge "Breck" Dyer and Deputy Jenny O'Hara follow the evidence to a cryptocurrency conference at the ski resort. It’s a strange mix of high rollers, hipsters, CEO’s and tech gurus from all over the world, but the investigation hits a snag when their main suspect disappears—and the only witness won’t talk. Complicating matters, Breck is under investigation himself, plus it’s an election year, and he has to prove, to both the district attorney and the people of Quandary, that he isn’t a corrupt cop. Optics matter in politics, and Breck knows he could lose in the court of public opinion, even if the truth is on his side.

Review: First off, thank you again to NetGalley, Sunbury Press Inc., and the author for gifting me this book to review. Not going to lie, I kind of went into this book blind. I read about that 1st sentence of the synopsis and then just dove right in. A dead body found in mine shaft, was enough for me to wanna read the book. This book was so well written. A lot of characters to follow but so well intertwined with each other and easy to follow. This is the second book in the series. I have not read the first, but now I will have to! I will say you don’t have to read the first though to be able to follow this book. I was not expecting to like this book as much as I did. I will be back for more books written by this author.

Recommend: 100%.

Sheriff Breck is back with sidekick Jenny who finds gruesome remains in an old mine working. A cryptocurrency conference is in town and said gruesome remains turn out to be an important Norwegian speaker. Breck and Jenny have their work cut out to find the murderer alongside the upcoming elections where the old mayorial adversary is still trying to oust Breck and regain his power over the town. There are plenty of twists and turns, loads of political shenanigans, threats, kidnaps, a really nasty bad guy henchman and plenty to keep Breck and Jenny on their toes. Reading the first story is not essential although does add background to Breck. A good read. Thanks to NetGalley and Sunbury Press Inc for an advance copy in exchange for my honest review.

I really enjoyed this book. Breck and Jenny are admirable characters, and the story was extremely well-told!
I have not read book one. Which now I'm going to have to!
But the setting was extremely amazing and the story I was completely incredible!
I honestly wasn't expecting to enjoy this book as much as I did.

A body is found in a mine shaft in Quandary... Breck is who is the Sheriff and his deputy Jenny go to where there is evidence.. to find some answers! Which leads to a cryptocurrency conference in a ski resort.
There are all kinds of mixed people here......from CEOs to tech savvy individuals who ate from all over the world! Suddenly his investigation hits a brick wall when the main suspect disappears and coincidencidently
his only witness won't talk!

Find out what happens in the great mystery novel! I won't be disappointed!
