I liked this one! I thought it was clever to tell the couples stories while they were in therapy. I found this one quite lighthearted and a good read.

This novel included three characters navigating through the difficulties of marriage and life. The storyline was somewhat lacklustre, and the characters were not always likeable. The body shaming was too much in this novel. Most topics and themes were the usual tropes but some originality, such as the 40+ years of marriage story.
Unfortunately I had to push myself to read this novel, and for these reasons I give this novel a 2.5 rounded up to 3.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with an advanced readers copy in exchange for an honest review.

Overall I really enjoyed reading this story. I found. Yse.f flipping from liking and disliking the characters and then back to liking. I was rooting for the best outcome and happy with how everything turned out. The relationship problems that the characters faced were very realistic and it was nice to they all tackled the issues the best they could.

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to read this wonderful story.

I finally ended up fniishing this one and while I liked it, I did not completely love it. I'd still be open to other books by this author but something about the main characters and timelines in this book left me wanting more.

This was a book I read knowing nothing about it and never hearing anything about it. Sometimes that’s a great thing and you can find a hidden gem. This was in the other category.

About Us follows three women who all have issues in their relationships and end up visiting the same therapist.

There’s Ann who has just turned 65 and has realized that her marriage isn’t as fulfilling as she needs to be, Alice who is a stay at home Mom who feels overwhelmed and unsupported by her (fairly useless) husband and Orla who has a physical condition that has stopped her from pursuing relationships.

I enjoyed Alice’s character and her story the most, however most of her family was a nightmare and it was extremely frustrating to read at times. She was definitely my favourite storyline and I enjoyed it start to finish.

I disliked the character of Orla the most. The romance storyline was absolutely ridiculous and she needed much more therapy for herself before she even thought about being in a relationship.

It was interesting to hear how two people viewed the same relationship, however it ended up being too long and repetitive for me. I started off enjoying it, but by the end I just wanted to get it over with

3 couples, one therapist
A long marriage, complacency, stagnancy, empty nest, one person wants to make it work better, the other disinterested in making changes, at times uncomfortable. The realities of real life situations, 3 lives intertwined some attempting to make things work. Great writing by the author, although a topic I would not normally chose to read about, it was engaging and kept me wanting to find out what happens.

Thanks to Penguin Randon House Canada, Penguin UK and #NetGalley for the ecopy of this book

Sadly, I attempted to start this book and could never get into the story. I'm sure it was a good story though, based on the description!I hope to be able to find the time to read it.

An intriguing insight into the lives of couples. You will see yourself, your friends, your neighbours in these people and will root for their happiness

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sending me the e-ARC in exchange for an honest review!

In about us Sinead Moriarty shows the fragility of relationships, and how some relationships can work out and some can't. Set in Dublin, Ireland, this book follows three different couples whose lives are all intertwined in ways they don't completely know.

Ann and Ken have been married for over thirty years and together even longer, but now that their kids are all grown up and Ken is retiring, Ann wants change. The only problem is Ken is stuck in his ways, and unwilling to see the need for change. Alice and Niall are a married couple with four kids, but Alice feels more like a single mother than anything else. With the children taking up all her time, Niall comes home from work reaching for something he isn’t going to get. Orla is struggling in a lot of ways and trying to “fix” herself now that she’s falling for the new guy in her life, Paul. All of them are on the last straws of their relationships and turn to a relationship therapist to help them solve their problems.

I spent the morning reading this book and really enjoyed the way it was written. Moriarty does a really good job of showing how sometimes you can be so caught up in your own problems that you don't notice how much the people you love are struggling. The well interpretation for relationships that gradually fall apart was something I definitely welcome, especially since it's something so many people understand.

I’d rate this book a 3.5 personally, because as much as I don't regret reading it and found it a great way to spend time, I didn't completely click with it. I still think it's a great read, especially for someone who likes books that can be heartbreaking and light at the same time.

About us comes out tomorrow, and I’m curious to see how other people find this book! Definitely going to read another one of Moriarty’s books in the near future!

I did not find this story to be very compelling. None of the characters were very likable or interesting, they all seemed a little selfish. .

This was an interesting book about troubled relationships and families. It did make me laugh a few times yet also realize a few things about my own marriage. The characters in this book were very real and I think each in their own way came to some realization about their lives. It is a hopeful book.

I couldn't get into this one. These characters' relationships and conflicts just did not interest me despite my best efforts. Likely geared towards an older audience and nothing to do with the writing itself. This one just wasn't for me. Much thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my advance review copy.

I really enjoyed reading this story. I could easily relate to all the characters. I felt like these were real day to day problems written in a completely accessible way. I have to say I wanted more - I am so invested in these characters I need all my questions answered. The characters were well built up and thoroughly thought out. I loved the idea that these people all crossed through the therapist. The inter connection was perfect. I can't say enough about this book!

We have three interconnected couples, who are all visiting a therapist for help. This was a quick and fun read about relationships and the varied relationship stages were interesting to read as they played out. I thought that there was a good balance between each couple and I didn’t particularly feel drawn to one couple over another. My first Sinead Moriarty book I look forward to finding more.

This book was really disappointing to me. I love the openness and normalization of therapy but it wasn’t as funny or original as I thought it would be

About Us follows three different couples. Ann and Ken, Alice and Niall, and Orla and Paul. Each of these couples have some sort of issues in their relationships that they are looking to solve, therefore they go to Maggie, the therapist that just so happens to be working with each of these couples and individuals separately. Each of these people are intertwined in small ways, so it's not completely random. Orla is roommates with Ann and Ken's daughter, and Orla is also the teacher of Niall and Alice's kid.

Ann and Ken are an older married couple, that have recently found themselves not doing much, and Ann realizes, a bit more so than Ken, that she is not happy with her life. Niall and Alice are married with four kids, and although they love their kids very much, they are finding it harder and harder to manage the kids as well as keep a good relationship with each other. Orla is a young teacher. She meets Paul through her work, as he is the father of one of her students. Orla really likes Paul, but is hesitant to act on it due to her history of sexual problems.

At first, I wasn't sure I was going to like this book, since it was very different from my usual kind of read. Although, once I got a bit further, I started to really get into it. I really enjoyed how the author had the subtle overlap between the characters, but they were each still separate stories. The author was very good at keeping you invested by switching to a different couple during tense moments. I thought that the idea was fascinating and unique. I liked that it wasn't meant to be a lighthearted, happy romance, but more that it showed some very real problems that can arise in relationships.

There's not much that I would change about the book if I'm being honest, just perhaps I would have preferred a more solid ending. The ending was good, but personally I prefer when the ending is laid out clearly for the reader, although that is more of a personal preference.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book! A big thanks to NetGalley, Sinéad Moriarty, and the publisher for this E-ARC.

I quite enjoyed this book, it was charming and at the same time emotional. The characters felt like real people who, whether I liked or disliked, had substance and heart.
I read it quite fast as I felt the need to consume the whole story in one sitting, I really like books that explore lives in this way.

I will definitely be reading more by Sinéad Moriarty.

About Us by Sinead Moriarty is a contemplative and evocative read told from the perspectives of three women, each at very different stages in their lives. What unites these women, beyond the therapist they have in common, is a longing for something that is missing from their lives.

Told from the alternating perspectives of Ann, Alice, and Orla, each woman provides a snapshot into a life in which she is unfulfilled. Seeking the guidance of a professional therapist, each will work to remedy her circumstances, and find for herself a version of what constitutes happily ever after.

This is a pleasant, enlightening read that contains many rarely spoken truths. I found each woman to be tremendously relatable and, as a result, I felt fully invested in their individual journeys and outcomes. Recommended.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Penguin Random House Canada for an ARC.

Cute book. I like the various POV's. I found i related to all the main women characters, and they were all nice. The struggles are real and true to life problems. I feel like i didnt get closure. It stopped abruptly leaving me wanting more.

Thanks Netgalley for this ARC.
