This story was very unique and emotional. Children had such a hard time surviving the depression that I am glad it had a better ending.
Many thanks to JMerrillPress and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

4 stars, Haunting Story
REDEMPTION by Caroly P. Hartley
Adele "Delly" Dawson is a 15-year old girl who is struggling in the depression after her beloved mother dies in childbirth, finally giving her husband his coveted son. Her horrible step-father August Beck has tried several times to get rid of Delly, but Delly isn't afraid of him and continues to keep the house running, with the many, many 1/2 sisters and the newborn baby 1/2 brother. Every day is a struggle for Delly, but she has bigger plans, her momma wanted her to go back to West Virginia, where her Dawson family still remains.
Highly recommend it, it's a haunting story of a young girl coming into her own.
Much appreciation to #netgalley #jmerrillpress for the complimentary copy of #redemption set in #blueridgecountry I was under no obligation to post a review.

Great book about a family going through the depression. They suffered floods, hunger, death, abuse and much more. The historical aspect is spot on and the characters are either lovable or persons you have to hate. The main character is Adele and she is very close to her mother who she loses giving birth to her tenth child. Adele now takes care of her brother and sisters and she finds out that her step father had done a horrible thing and she wantS to correct it herself. I highly recommend this book to who who enjoys historical fiction.
Thanks to Net Galley for allowing me to read this arc for my honest review.
