This book is one of the most beautiful pieces of fiction I have read in a very long time. Who knew the story of Romeo and Juliet could still surprise me? A million and more kudos to Kathryn Barker for this gorgeous novel and everything she did with it. First of all, the character growth in this story? Perfection. Absolutely amazing. The way we didn't notice the changing thoughts and feelings of the main characters until we look back like "omg, they've come so far". That is my absolute favorite type of characterization. She nailed it. The characters feel real, They have flaws and quirks and things that make them unique. No one is perfect, but also no one is truly only horrible. There may be villains, but they have motivations and reasons for their actions, terrible ones yes, but still they're motivated. That's one of my favorite parts of this book. But, my absolute favorite part is the twisting and turning storyline that is so interconnected it would look like a kid's scribble if someone drew it out. She did the aspect of time travel in a way I had never seen before. It both surprised me and took my breath away as we got to the end of the book. But, most of all, I fell in love with the writing style and the poetic way the book was written. I think there were at least 30 quotes out of this book I would like to have memorized forever. Seriously, I cannot rave about this book enough. You need to read it, you need to experience it. 5 stars all the way.

Wow, I am usually not a science fiction reader, but the title caught my attention. I am glad I took a chance with this book and read it. There were so many parts of the story that surprised me and made me write down quotes. Excellently written, and beautifully detailed. I am impressed with the author’s ability to take two books (Romeo & Juliet, Wuthering Heights) and create a “time-traveling retelling.”

I love how this book adapted the classic story of Romeo and Juliet. If you are a fan of science fiction and retellings, this is a great book to pick up!
