I enjoyed this book, it is part of a series, but is fine to read as a stand a lone, likeable main characters and i liked that I didn't guess who the bad guy was and that it didn't end in the typical way of the main female character being caught by the bad guy and needing to be rescued. Also that the gay characters were both good and "bad"

Robert Bryndza is an author I found on NetGalley. I can never put his books down once I open them. Totally worth the read. I love the character Kate Marshall. ​(And the covers are great too)

This is a great book and it has such great characters. Though I do find that I compare it to the other books in this series. While I loved this book I do find that it doesn't have the same draw as the first book which was one of those books that you are gasping and just want more.

I think the main character has evolved but still not sure how far this character will go and I am not sure I always like her either.

Robert Bryndza can do no wrong for me, his books hit the mark every time. They make me read long into the night because they’re so engrossing and the character development is so good that you love them and cheer them on or they’re just completely vile and you can’t wait until the mystery is solved and the person gets their due. I love Kate and Tristan in this particular series, such a good team!

Unnervingly Credible Cast….
This new entry in the Kate Marshall series finds the Detective agency investigating a cold case. Things are soon to take a dark and sinister turn. Accomplished and solid character led mystery with an unnerveringly credible cast and a fast paced, tense storyline. Grips from first page to the very last.

I really enjoy the authors other police detective series so I thought I'd try this one I'm not as keen on the main character's in this book. I found them boring if I'm honest . The storyline was ok but I'm not 100% convinced on the killer and his abilities of double life . I think i will be sticking to his other series in the future

Really enjoyed this story and I had read the previous books so it seamlessly continued with Kate in charge and Tristan assisting.
I like the relationship between the two of them.

Kate and Tristan take on a cold case which leaves them frustrated and chasing up possible leads.

At the same time Kate has welcome company from her son Jake while she is mourning the loss of a dear friend.

I would recommend this book especially if you have read the previous ones.

Darkness Falls was so worth the wait. I loved this book by Robert Bryndza he is a great writer and I've enjoyed his work. This is the third book.to the Kate Marshall series.

In Darkness Falls, Kate and her business partner Tristan are hired as private investigators to hopefully locate long missing journalist Johanna Duncan by her mother. Johanna has been missing for over 12 years and the police have closed the investigation. Kate and Tristan slowly go through the cold case and methodically reinterview witnesses and suspects. As they draw closer to answers an actual serial killer tracks his own prey.

Really enjoyed this mystery. There was a great twist at the end that I didn't see coming. Even better, was learning more about Tristan and Kate lives and their personal issues. I love British mystery novels because they include so much more about the characters.

I will say, the serial killer, and the killing was violent. For me, it was more violent that I am used to. Perhaps it was just great writing that made the murder stick in my head. If you like cold cases, private eyes, British style mysteries and mysteries in general than this is a great book for you! This is book #3 in the Kate Marshall series. Whilst it is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone book, although I would recommend they are read in order. I love this author, and have really enjoyed this series so far! This book is no exception and I was hooked instantly as soon as I started it. We’re back with Kate, who is working at her struggling Private Detective agency with her friend and colleague, Tristan. They are asked to investigate a cold case involving the disappearance of journalist, Joanna Duncan twelve years before.

The book’s storyline twists and turns throughout. Told mainly from Kate’s and Tristan’s point of view, there are also chapters interspersed from who you assume to be the killer. I honestly had no idea where the storyline was going, and despite Kate and Tristan working through the clues found, I didn’t see the ending coming! The book is deliciously dark and sinister with plenty of characters to point the finger at! I loved Kate’s character, and it’s good to see her throwing herself into this case, doing something that you know she’s great at. Her relationship with Tristan is perfect, and whilst she is obviously working through the issues which have plagued her since the first book, there is still a vulnerability to her character.

I knew as soon as I started this book, I wouldn’t be able to put it down. The characters, storyline and location grabbed me and I was mesmerised through to the last page. The series is based in the South West of England and I know some of the locations that we are taken to which was great! It was a little gory and violent in parts, but it all added to the tension and suspense written through the pages. I’ve read many books by this author and have loved them all, including this one! I was dubious at the start of the series whether I could take to Kate as I really enjoyed the Erica Foster series, but three books in and Kate is definitely welcomed to the fold! A gripping storyline filled with lots of mystery and murders, I would definitely recommend this book! Roll on book #4!

In the third book featuring Kate Marshall and Tristan Harper the pair are trying to get their PI agency up and running when a woman comes to them with a case. Her daughter Joanna, a journalist, went missing twelve years ago and the police have stopped investigating. Kate and Tristan agree to take the case and eventually find other missing persons who might be connected to Joanna's case. The case twists and turns, eventually leading to a devastating reveal. I enjoy these books because of the supportive relationship between Kate and Tristan. They don't judge each other and will back each other up no matter what. I look forward to the next book in the series.

Again, I wasn't disappointed. Kate and Tristan are the perfect crime fighting duo taking on cold cases.
The plot was both intriguing and heartbreaking, I found that even though \I did guess the perpetrator, I still had to read to find out how everything slotted together.
I love that these books are a little different to the usual crime reads, being cold cases. Kate seems to take a more personal approach to solving the cases and it gives the books a good emotional edge.
The writing is clever and dark, creating an atmosphere that really brings the story to life.
The ending had me curling y ties hoping that no harm would come to Kate and Tristan. Another excellent addition to the series, that I devoured in no time at all. I look forward to seeing what Kate and Tristan come up against next, under the ever present shadow of Kate's past and serial killer Peter Conway.

What a honor to be reading Darkness Falls now and not have to wait untill December.

This is the 3th book in the Kate Marshal series and her “sidekick” Tristan. What I really liked about this book was its unexepected twist at the end. While reading the book the expected outcome for me kept changing. I like that very much. I will leave at this. Affraid I’m going to spoil your reading….

I’m a big fan of series with the same characters in it and Robert has created real great ones. If you never read a Kate Marshal story I recommend you start with the first book, so you know all about where she comes from.

Another fantastic book in this series. It has a gripping story line and once I started reading I didn't want to stop. Looking forward to reading more.

I absolutely loved this book!
Robert Bryndza is a new author for me and I'm so glad to have found his work. In Darkness Falls he has penned a well written, intriguing mystery that keeps you guessing right until the very end. The book is definitely a page turner!
The book itself is easy to read, with rich descriptions that contain just enough detail to help you picture the settings and people without tipping over into so much that it distracts from the story. The main characters have depth and are relatable, and the author makes you care about what happens to them.
I highly recommend this book to any and all lovers of mysteries.

A cold case involving a missing person that soon morphs into a hunt for a serial killer, this was one intriguing plot.

Twelve years ago, upcoming journalist Joanna Duncan vanished without a trace on her way home from work. Though the case has been declared inactive, Joanna's mother Bev refuses to give up the search for her daughter. She approaches Kate Marshall and Tristan Harper's fledgling PI business seeking help to get closure on Joanna's disappearance. Armed with the original case files, Kate and Tristan try to solve the cold case, in the process exposing a dangerous serial killer that has been roaming rampant amongst them.

Being the third book in the series and not having read the previous ones, it did take a while to establish the relations and dynamics between the various characters and their backstories. But once it set in, this was quite an enjoyable and thrilling read. While the main characters Kate and Tristan are not exceptionally memorable, it is the serial killer and the occassional peek into his psyche that stands out in the book.

While the serial killer trope has been widely explored, I was pleasantly surprised that this one came with a twist and also that the author spared us by not describing too many gory details, as is common in the genre.

Overall, a fast-paced and intriguing read. Looking forward to reading the previous books in the series. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for providing a digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I am a big fan of Bryndza and this book didn’t disappoint. I love the chemistry between the main characters, Tristin and Kate. They’re such likable characters.
At times the book seemed slow to reveal information, but it also made it feel more realistic while reading.

Kate and Tristan are taking a cold case. Joanna, a young journalist, is going missing and her mother is asking Kate to take the case. The case is complicated but not for Kate.
Great thriller- mystery.

This series with Kate Marshall as the main character is really growing on me. I enjoyed this read, and felt the story flowed well. Kate and Tristan have set up their own PI business and are approached by a mother who asks them to find out what happened to her daughter who went missing 12 years before. There were a lot of threads to the story here which I loved. Both Kate and Tristan are so likeable, believable and realistic. It’s a pleasant change to follow the investigation from a PI’s perspective and I loved the twists and turns and think this is a well written, engaging book with a good plot line. It didn’t wow me though. I was underwhelmed with the previous book and this one definitely hit the mark more with me. Looking forward to the next in the series.
