I love many different versions of the Psalms but the author's attempt to make them more lyrical seems to make them lose their poetic quality to me. There were some instances in favorite Psalms (like parts of 91 and 139) that worked for me but most of the time the rhyme scheme caused them to fall flat in my opinion. I do appreciate the daunting task of taking on such beloved, well known and (most of all!) sacred material but this was not my favorite rendering of the Psalter.
