The synopsis/blurb hooked me but this turned out to be a totally forgettable thriller unfortunately. Lots of avenues taken where the plot could have been developed into something really solid but nothing developed from those paths and no real twists as I had hoped.

The characters are very under developed. It also lacked surprise and tension. It is not the best thriller that I have read

Sam Carrington's "The Couple on Maple Drive" unfolds a tense and suspenseful narrative within the confines of a seemingly quiet neighborhood. This psychological thriller explores the aftermath of a brutal mugging and the chilling events that follow, creating a gripping atmosphere that keeps readers on the edge of their seats.

The strength of the novel lies in its ability to build and sustain tension. The aftermath of Isla's mugging sets the stage for an emotionally charged storyline, with her boyfriend, Zach, stepping into a protective role. The exploration of the couple's relationship and the psychological toll of the attack on Isla adds depth to the narrative, making the characters relatable and the stakes palpable.

The plot unfolds at a brisk pace, with Carrington skillfully weaving a web of secrets and suspense. The narrative is laced with a sense of impending danger, and the author effectively plays with the reader's expectations. The portrayal of the neighborhood and its inhabitants contributes to the overall atmospheric tension, creating a sense of unease that permeates the story.

While the plot is engaging, there are instances where the twists and turns may feel slightly predictable to seasoned readers of the genre. Some revelations may not land with the impact intended, and the resolution of certain plot points might leave readers craving a bit more complexity.

The characters, particularly Isla and Zach, are well-crafted, each harboring their own secrets and vulnerabilities. The author delves into the complexities of their relationship, adding an emotional layer to the suspenseful narrative. The supporting cast, including the neighbors, provides a variety of perspectives that contribute to the overall intrigue.

Carrington's writing style is accessible, allowing for an easy and immersive reading experience. The dialogue is realistic, and the descriptive elements contribute to the creation of a vivid setting. The author succeeds in maintaining a sense of urgency throughout the novel, driving the story towards its climax.

The plot for the book was really good. It had lots of interesting twists and turns. I really enjoyed the most of it. But sadly in parts it dragged on a bit. It definitely could have been written better

I did not finish this one- it lost my interest, unfortunately. I can't put my finger exactly on what was not keeping me interested!

Another great read from the author. Tense and gripping as always but this one was also quite chilling at times with the hints at what was to come.

Dark, twisted and very well written. It's fast paced and quite a thrilling journey. You think you know, you are sure you know and then youre wrong. The characters are well written and the stury flows so easily it became impossible to put down. I devoured it a lot faster than I planned and ended up quite tired after reading well into the night. A brillaint book!

Isla's story in the The couple on maple drive is intriguing but for me wasn't suspenseful. It started off great with the chapter on the attack and the aftermath. But there on it got very predictable. Every single character in the book except Isla is almost unreliable and although when you can't tell who the perp is its generally a good thing it kinda annoyed me that she had such sad excuses for friends in her life. Only the storyline on Isla and her mother Rowan could bring some warmth into what felt like a bleak existence. I 100% rooted for Isla from the start and came to really like her by the end, but the plot felt very much like multiple bad things happening together just for the heck of it. The part of the podcast running in parallel with the storyline was also something different and I liked that. In the end, my favorite character Isla was not like other template protagonists that make dumb decisions so that counts for a lot! I would recommend this as a 1-time read.

Sam Carrington’s novels slowly picks up the reader and then you are in this full blown suspense thriller, only asking one question, what happened next?

The couple on maple drive is another of a roller coaster thriller. Isla was attacked a few months back and was left for dead. She, however, has recovered but her PTSD does not allow her to go outside of her house. To make things worse, she cannot even remember the day she was attacked or her attacker. Zach, her boyfriend takes care of her but something in her mind keeps her paranoid about everything. If only she could remember hat happened that night!

The Couple on Maple Drive by Sam Carrington is a quick read that will keep you on the edge of your seat and flying through the pages.

Isla has been the victim of a savage mugging that leaves her living in constant fear. Her boyfriend Zach moves in with her to offer protection and a sense of security. But something is not quite right at this home on Maple Drive that is rife with secrets, and the threat might be even closer than anyone would ever suspect.

This is an author who can always be relied upon for a cracking read, and this latest is no exception. You will want to add it to your TBR if it is not already there.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Avon Books UK for an ARC.

Enjoyable thriller with short chapters which I prefer. Kept me turning the pages.

Would definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys a punchy, fasted paced read. I especially liked the podcast elements of the book and the way the truth was gradually revealed.

I did guess the twist which did disappoint a bit but that said I still thoroughly enjoyed reading it.

I love this author’s previous books and this one did not disappoint. I love the way the plot unfolded and there were plenty of twists I didn’t see coming. Another great thriller from this author

From the first page to the last, I was captivated. I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. My first and won't be the last Sam Carrington book.

I voluntarily reviewed this book.

A thriller that starts off in a slow pace. Isla barely leaves the house after her violent mugging. Her boyfriend Zach moved in with her after the attack to look after her. She had a severe concussion and lost memory of the attack. Isla lives in fear of being attacked and hides at home all the time. Something disturbing has happened now on their doorstep. Thanks NetGalley and the publisher for the advance ecopy.

I’ve left this a tad long in between reading and reviewing, and it’s definitely not a memorable thriller which has stuck in my mind. The characters nor the story.

I think the title and cover is quite misleading and didn’t really connect to what the story ended up being about. It was quite slow, I think I’ve come to learn that I like my thrillers fast paced and unputdownable. It was missing tension, twists and interesting characters.

There were podcast sections sprinkled throughout which broke up the story nicely, and they were probably my favourite parts to read.

Unfortunately I wasn’t wow’ed by this one and probably wouldn’t recommend it either.

I enjoyed Carrington's "I Dare You". This one felt a bit disjointed and a bit predictable - although since this is also my go-to genre, everything seems predictable at this point. The pacing was a tad bit slow for my liking.
