I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. I discovered Pamela Kelley during the pandemic and have read all of her books. They go quickly and I wish that I could hold onto them and not read them so fast but I just can't help myself. I love the setting and the characters and the storyline.

There are so many things I can say about this book but let me start by saying this was my first from Pamela Kelley but absolutely will not be my last! She did such a phenomenal job with the character development in this and made all of the relationships feel so authentic and believable. I fell in love with each and every one of the characters and would love to see a sequel to this to see where this lives went afterwards. This had everything I love in a beach read: adorable love stories, strong female characters, and a beautiful backdrop (in this case - Nantucket! One of my favorites!). I just loved all of the imagery and the beachy atmosphere that helped every relationship feel so romantic. I was just swept up by it all. I loved the conclusion to each storyline and thought they were all perfect in their own ways. This reminded me of many I've read from a couple of my favorite authors Elin Hilderbrand & Mary Kay Andrews so if you've a fan of either of them you absolutely have to pick this book up! I look forward to reading many more from Pamela Kelley. It was just published two days ago on July 6th, 2021 so make sure to pick up your copy! Thank you to the publisher, author, and Net Galley for this advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Hotel by Pamela Kelley is the perfect summer romance. It is a relaxing fun Hallmark movie type book that will have you smiling and not wanting the story to end.

The Nantucket Whitley Hotel is a family affair. Paula's grandfather owns it and all the cousins are employees. When Paula is given a promotion it sparks family jealousy. It also sparks feelings between Paula and the handsome new consultant her Grandfather hires to help her settle in. Narrator Leslie Howard remarkably takes on many characters including an overworked movie star, a spiteful cousin, and a gambling addicted aunt. A Love Boat on land. Sit back and enjoy the trip.

I received free copies of this Audiobook from Dreamscape Media via NetGalley for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.

I loved listening to this audiobook. The Hotel was so much fun. The genre was described as Clean and Wholesome Romance. That's exactly what the book is. The book is set in a family run hotel on Nantucket. There's a little cousin drama, a little romance, a little food, and it is all tied up neatly at the end. I really liked it!

The Hotel
by: Pamela Kelley
narrated by: Leslie Howard

I'm so refreshed after my five-star stay at the exquisite Whitley Hotel, overlooking Nantucket Harbor, through the pages of Pamela Kelley's lovely and luscious book, The Hotel. After a stroll on the hotel's rolling lawn, readers can sip a summer beverage and savor an appetizer at the outside bar overlooking the ocean. Leslie Howard's voice captured the beauty of this romantic drama perfectly with her calming, tranquil narration.
Meet the engaging, stellar ensemble cast of people surrounding the Whitley and learn about the past and future of this high scale, yet warm and inviting hotel. Founding family members have various staff positions and live on the grounds of the hotel in cozy cottages. Paula has just replaced her cousin as general manager at the request of her grandfather. Pretty Bella is secretly spending two months at the hotel to escape her stress as an actress. With a plot involving career choices and blossoming romances, plus community and hotel events, Kelley' writing is alluring with vivid descriptions of the locale, food, and family dynamics surrounding this gorgeous hotel.
Warm and rich descriptions of idyllic date nights, a Taste of the Town food festival, fun summer parties, and a Christmas stroll swept me away in my escape to this Nantucket getaway. My taste buds crave the swordfish with mango salsa at Mimi's Place and Chef Nick's guacamole prepared for a fishing date with Bella. I give five stars to the tasty cuisine, exquisite hotel, budding romances, and absorbing characters in The Hotel. Thank you to Net Galley and Dreamscape Media for the advanced reader's audiobook and the opportunity to provide my review.

This is a great clean romance. I think it would be great for a Hallmark movie. I loved how the story revolves around 3 Whitley’s who work at their Grandfather’s hotel. It is a different concept to follow 3 characters and their relationships. I thought this was an engaging story and I wanted to know more about some of the ancillary characters, so I hope there is a second book or a novella about a couple of the other characters.

The Hotel covers the lives hotel patrons and staff at the family-run, upscale hotel known as the Whitley. It begins by focusing on Paula, a character who’s offered a high-level job that she’s not sure she can do. It gives a glimpse into the life of her nemesis, who is urged to take on a job as concierge; a movie star seeking an escape and break from Hollywood, and other key people who help carry their unique stories. The stories of these characters merge with the theme of finding romantic love.

I enjoyed listening to the book. I’m use to books that focus on a few characters, but this author makes sure to give nearly each person who enters a scene a name. However, doing so doesn’t leave much room for fleshing out of the main characters. The storyline I would have loved to see fleshed out more was Bella and Nick. I would have liked to have learned what happened during the President's visit, which could have add some additional humor. I also would have loved to see how the character’s reacted to each other’s dialogue more. One thing I couldn’t help but notice was the author’s constant hair color preference, which appeared to limit the diversity in the book. I would encourage the author to elude more to different ethnicities. I liked the narrator, but it seemed with Marco's character she developed or emphasized his accent later in the book.

Once I was done listening to the book, I missed the characters. This book is ideal when you’re looking for a book to pull out and read while lazing around on the beach.

I listened to the audio version of this book. The narrator did a fabulous job!
This story is based in Nantucket in the family owned, luxurious Whitley Hotel. Paula gets the job as the General Manager, which had belonged to her cousin, Andrea. Of course, with all families some drama occurs. New characters are brought into the book along with some old ones.
Pamela M. Kelley writes a bunch of books based in Nantucket that are stand-alone books, however you see her characters and places in each book. It’s nice to hear about them all.
Thanks, NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for an early copy of the book. I really enjoyed it.

Set on the island of Nantucket we visit the high-end Whitbey Hotel owned and run by the Whitbey family. Paula is asked to take over the General Manager position which puts her out in front of the public. A place she never felt comfortable and to make matters worse, Paula will be replacing her cousin who never really liked her. We also are treated to learning more about Nick, the excellent chef of the hotel. He may be falling in love with someone who really might not be in his future. This was a pleasant, relaxing read. No mayhem. Maybe a little angst between family members, but it all works out in the end. Thank you Netgalley and Dreamscape Audio for an early copy of this excellent book. The comments and review are my honest opinion.

The Hotel is a contemporary story with some romance, family, community and forgiveness. It is about life and finding your place. Paula Whitley is happily working behind the scenes at the Whitley Hotel on Nantucket. Her cousin has been managing the place, but her grandfather and patriarch, Wynn Whitley, decides he needs to make some changes. He moves Andrea to the concierge desk and appoints Paula as manager. There are some family members who think this is a great move, but others, especially Andrea, are not happy with these changes. Not only that, but Wynn has hired a hotel consultant, David Connolly, to help Paula with this transition. David is a local boy, who is returning not only to help Paula, but to be with his family as his mother has been diagnosed with Alzhheimer's and he needs to help his dad decide what to do next. As everyone moves forward, there are some aha moments for many of the characters.

I really enjoyed this story. The first thing that attracted me was that cover, isn't it gorgeous? The characters are wonderful. They are well developed and even with their flaws, they are likable. I loved the secondary characters and all the guests. It was interesting to see behind the scenes and what kind of decisions are made from minute to minute. Anyone whose life is upended the way the Whitley's are, will have some difficulties and doubts moving forward. I really liked Paula. She wants to make her grandfather proud, but she does not like this arrogant, bottom line man that he has hired. I liked that she kept true to her values and beliefs when it came to running the hotel. The romance that slowly develops between them was well written and believable. Andrea was one of my favourite characters. She felt this change was a slap in the face and was immediately angry with Paula for taking her job, a natural reaction. As she looks for a new job managing a hotel, she begins to see herself, her strengths, and her desire to be home, makes her step back and evaluate what is important in her life. There are so many great moments in this book that I found myself spending time with the Whitleys when I should have been doing something else. There was not one, but three romances in this story and all of them were sweet, slow building and believable. The Whitley is a great place to vacation. They are subtle, elegant and the guests always come first. I want to stay at the Whitley, meet this family and see what is next in all their lives. Leslie Howard narrates this audiobook and I did enjoy it. She is British, but there is no hint of an accent. She has a very pleasant voice and is easy to listen to. Her female voices have differentiation, but her male voices are not that well done, they sound very much like the female ones. That being said, her expression and emotion added to the story. If you enjoy reading contemporary romance, and stories about life, then pick this one up.

I listened to the audio format of this book and really enjoyed it. It just felt like summer, which was fun. The Whitley family holds secrets and drama revolving around running the Whitley hotel, which played out well with the split perspectives. Though, I could have done with Andrea's. Not just because I didn't like her, but I have a hard time reading from perspective of people who manipulate and do bad things to get back at someone else for doing nothing wrong. Besides that, this was an enjoyable listen. The food descriptions were delicious and the scenery of Nantucket was beautiful.

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for this audiobook in exchange of my honest review.

2.5, rounded up

The Hotel takes you to Nantucket, where a large family runs a hotel they've owned for years. There is a management shake-up and a consultant is brought in. We follow the story as several of the grandchildren find love.

This book was not bad- it just wasn't great. It is fairly short and yet the author tried to do way too much. The book switches POVs often and the story follows about 8-10 different people. That is a lot to squeeze into one book. That left a lot of the characters and their relationships under developed.
Also, pet peeve, it is incredibly unrealistic to think that 4 siblings/cousins all find love within the same summer.

Honestly, this could (perhaps should) have been stretched into a series. Instead it was way too much at the same time (and none of it was particularly exciting- all pretty anti-climatic).

I listened to the audiobook. The narrator is clear and her voice is easy to listen to. However, she uses the same voice throughout- for all the different POVs, for dialogue, etc...

For those looking for a clean romance, this fits the bill. There are a couple of chaste kisses mentioned. That is as far as it goes.

I received a copy of the audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

The Whitley family owns and operates one of Nantucket's upscale hotels. Paula currently works in the back office, under the wing of her grandfather, the patriarch of the Whitley family. When he offers Paula the newly available role of general manager, she is stunned - not only because she never expressed interest in the role, but because previously it was held by her cousin, Andrea. Though Paula is interested to see if she's up for the challenge, she is unsure if it's worth the drama that it might cause within their family.

This is my first read of this author and I am hooked. This book had me longing for a vacation at a luxurious hotel in Nantucket. Something I really enjoy in a book is when there is more than one main character and they each have their own story line. As an added bonus, even the background characters had their own story line and it helped to invest me even further in life at The Whitley Hotel. I binged this entire book to and from work (even taking the long way home to sneak in some more listening time) and was sad when it was finally finished. Love, love, loved this one!

Welcome to the Whitley, Nantucket's most exclusive and glamorous hotel! I really enjoyed this story, especially the audiobook and narrator. Between the family drama, romance, setting, and food descriptions this book has it all. A fun and quick summer read!

I love Pamela Kelley's book. While i do think some of the romance scenes are cheesy, they give you a warm happy feeling! She is a great author of Nantucket fiction if that is your thing. The narrator was great as well and really kept me hooked into the story. I hope there is a sequel!
