I loved this one! I listened to the audiobook and the narrator really made the story come alive for me with their voices. The storyline itself was good and the different characters were interesting.

This is an intimate look into the lives of one family living in Nantucket. They own the Whitley - a premiere destination hotel on Nantucket Island. Because of this very talented author's vivid descriptions, I would love to visit this unique destination getaway. I am fast becoming a fan of Pamela Kelley's. She writes sweet, clean romance with a close family vibe. I would have loved for the book to be longer but am hoping this is being developed into a series surrounding this close-knit family. I can envision this being produced into a possible Netflix series (hopefully). Such a talented author. In this book, there are multiple relationships developing and the author is excellent at capturing the specific personalities of each character. Great Summer Read! The narrator, Leslie Howard is excellent.

This is the first book I have read by Pamela Kelley, and I was initially intrigued by the Nantucket setting. I wish this book might have given the reader a little more of the ‘Nantucket’ setting/experience. Since most of the book is set in the hotel, I felt like this one could have happened just about anywhere.

This book is told from the perspectives of several different characters, which made it feel a little disjointed at times, and I got a little confused (at times) remembering who all the characters were, and how they were related.

The narrator did a solid job of narrating this one - speed was just about right, not too fast and not too slow.

This was an okay book, but I was hoping for more.

I received a copy of this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

What a great listen (or read). I listened start to finish without taking a break (audiobooks are amazing for multitasking). It was that good! It is a story about family, love, growth, relationships, discovery, and finding your place in your family, business and the world. I really like how she allows each person to be who they are and to evolve and become their best selves. Most people aren’t all good or all bad, they mostly a little bit of both with some self reflection and a little push from their beloved grandfather. I am so glad I got to listen to this wonderfully written and narrated book. I wish that the Whitley were a real place for I would love to go stay there.

The Whitley Hotel in Nantucket is an iconic summer getaway for the elite. Owned by the Whitley family for generations, the hotel is THE place to be seen on the island and plenty of A list celebrities and politicians have made the hotel their exclusive vacation spot. Paula Whitley has worked as an account for the family business, preferring a behind the scenes role, but then her grandfather makes an announcement stating that Paula will bet taking over the front of the house; she’s going to be running the entire show. But not without help; her grandfather has hired a consultant to help bring the Whitley into the 21st century. Paula isn’t happy with her new role or the consultant and the rest of her family is angry at losing their own roles in the family business. This is a juicy novel that puts me in mind of the 1980’s stories by Judith Krantz, big and exuberant

There are several people to keep track of in Pamela Kelley’s The Hotel, but the author does a good job of not losing the reader with the multiple storylines.

I enjoyed visiting the prestigious Whitley Hotel and the beauty and activity of Nantucket through the eyes of the Whitley family. And oh boy, will the descriptions of the food in this book make your mouth water. From the chocolate-covered cranberries to the seafood dishes and everything in between, Kelley delights imaginary tastebuds with her delectable descriptions.

And while The Hotel is an escape of sorts, it’s also a story of family and all the dynamics involved, of discovering joy in your occupation, of learning and growing from advice and what may sometimes feel like criticism from others, and romance.

This is my first Pamela M. Kelley book and I truly enjoyed it. The Hotel is a (women's) fiction novel about a high end family run hotel in Nantucket. Paula Is surprised when her grandfather, and founder of The Whitley, promotes her from numbers cruncher to general manager. Her cousin Andrea who has been the GM is given different responsibilities, but she is sure Paula stole her job. David, a temporary consultant, is brought on to help make the transition smooth.

The story focuses on a Paula, her brother Will (a chef), Andrea, and Bella, an incognito guest. Most of the time is spent on work at the hotel, family dynamics and dining and dating in Nantucket. This is easy to follow storyline and everyone gets some focus including extended family. This is a clean book for language and intimacy. Because they are adults I wish there was more heat. I don't care if it is off the page, but particularly one couple, I wanted to know if and when they become intimate, to understand their relationship and feelings. The author sets up a lot of potential happy endings but doesn't finalize it. I'm not sure if this is how she writes or if she intends a sequel.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Leslie Howard. I enjoyed listening to her and the characters through her voices. The setting of the book being in Nantucket made me want to return to the beautiful Cape Cod for a visit.
