Things are getting hot in Devil’s Beach! Perkatory owner Lana Lewis can’t ignore her journalist past when the owner of the hot yoga studio next door goes missing. When it comes out that everything wasn’t sunshine and roses at the studio and Raina had a decidedly murky past and had made plenty of enemies Lana finds herself up to her neck with suspects and motives while Chief Noah is stuck taking a backseat to the Feds when they make off with his case. Top it all off with a problem with her cold brew and Lana finds herself with her hands full. A fun new entry in the Coffee Shop Mastery series!

This is another entertaining cozy mystery for coffee lovers. While it is the second in a series, it reads rather well on its own.

I like the heroine. She had been a journalist in Miami but was now managing the coffee shop for her father. Her journalistic side comes out when the owner of the yoga studio next to the coffee shop goes missing and is then found murdered.

The murdered yoga instructor was popular with her flashy techniques but she was disliked by many. The suspect list is large. I was surprised at the culprit in the end as I am not sure there was much foreshadowing. Information was revealed late that would have helped us figure out who it was.

This is an entertaining cozy mystery set in an interesting location. Coffee and yoga lovers will find much to like. There is nothing amazing about Lush's writing style but the novel was a good and fun read overall. Unfortunately, there were no coffee recipes in the ARC I read. I would have liked to know how to make cold brew.

I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.

This book is such a charming mystery cozy. I love the quirky and fun characters. This is the first book by this author that I have read. I was pleasantly surprised to find I enjoyed this fast paced read. Lana runs perkatory coffee shop and next door is a yoga studio. The owners body was found in the swamp and Lana is asked to write about it. There are a good number of twists and turns and the story is well written. I definitely recommend this light hearted cozy.

I liked this book even better than the first one! It just had more of a regular cozy vibe which I remember not getting as much with the first book. I can't really explain it, but I just liked this book so much better. The two main characters of Lana and Noah seemed a little more mature and comfortable together. I loved that they were at least on a "we need to date" basis, but it was mainly his crazy hours that kept them from it. That and another case. Lana was awesome as a first person narrator, and I enjoyed the author's sense of humor coming out in her--and some of the other characters. The dialogue was just so good, and I love how natural-sounding it is!

I'm pretty sure Peter Lewis aka Dad was my fave character in the first book, and that's definitely not changed. And Erica's the best bestie a girl could ask for. There was a little side mystery of the cold brew batch going wonky on them. I had my suspicions, and you might too once you read the book!

I was completely surprised by the whodunit, and the showdown was a good one. Lana didn't get by unscathed though, but by the time she was okay, she was ready to hit the workplace once more. I'm eager to read more in this fun series! That little Stanley pup has stolen my heart!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book provided by Crooked Lane via NetGalley, and my opinions are my own.

Lana Lewis, former investigative reporter turned coffee shop owner in the small Florida town of Devil’s Beach is drawn into the disappearance of the owner of the yoga studio next door, Raina Rose. Itching to get back to her writing roots, she happily accepts an assignment to handle the story for the local paper. When Raina’s body shows up and the missing person turns into a murder, will she end up with the story or in deadly trouble herself?

Cold Brew Corpse is the second installment in this cozy mystery series, and it’s best read in order for the backstory of many of the characters. A cute, quick read, I enjoyed the story, but not quite as much as I did the first one in the series. With a few great suspenseful twists towards the end, it redeemed itself for me.

Perkatory, Lana Lewis’ coffee shop in Devil’s Beach, Florida, was popular with tourists and locals alike. When the cold brew that it was famous for was getting negative comments, Lana tried it – dishwater would have tasted better! Her determination to discover the reason behind the cold brew’s bad taste was overturned by a missing person – Raina Rose, the owner of Dante’s Inferno, the hot yoga studio beside Perkatory. Within a matter of days, the Raina’s body was found, and Chief Noah Garcia and the local police team’s search turned to finding a killer.

Lana was an ex-journalist out of Miami before she returned to Devil’s Beach and her dad, and when Mike from the local paper asked her to do a story, Lana was all over it. She was sure she’d find the answers and the killer – but could she? There were many suspects and as she whittled them down, her focus remained. Lana and Noah were at the beginning of a relationship – would Lana’s sleuthing anger the Chief enough to stop the relationship in its tracks?

Cold Brew Corpse is the 2nd in A Coffee Lover’s Mystery by Tara Lush, and I found it a little drawn out. But there were laugh out loud moments – yoga on the beach – a good mystery, and a conclusion which I didn’t see coming! I’ll happily look out for #3 in the series to catch up with Lara and the gang once again. Recommended.

With thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my digital ARC to read in exchange for an honest review.

First of all, I'm a huge coffee drinker but have never indulged in cold brew. That, however, could change after reading this book! It's not the reason I enjoyed the book so much, but it's given me an education in the cold brew process. Of course, the book itself is about a coffee shop owner, Lana Lewis, who becomes embroiled in a murder and, of course, she wants to figure out who did it. However, the police officer in charge does not want her anywhere near the murder. Guess who wins?
There are lots of interesting characters, a dog or two, and an interesting locale.

Tara Lush combines humor and mystery for a highly enjoyable cozy tale .

Lana Lewis has all kinds of things going on in Cold Brew Corpse . Between getting settled in at the coffee shop Purkatory, puppy classes for Stanley, writing an article for the local paper, sleuthing the murder of the yogi next door and her cold brew is somehow tainted. Maybe a little romance percolating. When said yogi has a darker side than most know, Lana sees returning to journalism brewing in her future.

Cold Brew Corpse is a fantastic follow up and continuation of A Coffee Lover’s Mystery series. Tara Lush Stepped it up and followed through with this cozy Mystery. Lana is finding her place in Devil’s Beach. I feel she’s beginning to gain some of the confidence she lost after her divorce and loss of career. Although she does get so wrapped up in journalism again, she does truly understand why it can’t happen exactly the way she’s wishing. Lana is surrounded by colorful and humorous characters that truly help keep the story going. Lana‘s dad is hysterical. That man is a riot of happiness and every time he is on the page will make you laugh. There are some true laugh out loud moments through the pages of the story. Candlelight yoga anyone? Erica is a girl you want on your side.

Cold Brew Corpse has a twisting mystery, well several mysteries and a lot of humor. I feel we learned a lot about Lana in this book and I love the cool weird facts about Florida. The mystery was twisty and kept me guessing. And of course all the coffee. How can you not love the coffee.

This was a fun debut to a new cozy series. I loved the them of the cozy, and I had so much fun trying to solve the mystery with the protagonist. I am excited for the next installment!

Cold Brew Corpse is a great addition to the Coffee Lover's Mystery series set on Devil's Beach, an island in southwest Florida, near Tampa. Filled with interesting and funny characters, some old hippies, new age and yoga enthusiasts, this is an entertaining read. Lana Lewis is back in town from Miami after her marriage failed. She is running her family's coffee shop, Perkatory, and doing a little freelance reporting on the side. Her old job was as a reporter for a newspaper in Miami and now she does an occasional article for the local paper. When Raina, the owner of the hot yoga studio, Dante's Inferno, next to Perkatory, goes missing, Lana is asked to write an article for the local paper. She finds some interesting things once she starts investigating. Some yoga staff and students have differing views of the yoga star than they show in public. Raina and her boyfriend have some rocky times too. Filled with lots of suspects, politics, jealousy, humor, and a little romance between Lana and the police chief, this is another winner for new author, Tara Lush.
I received a complimentary ARC from Crooked Lane Books and NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are mine only.

Cold Brew Corpse is a terrific follow-up to last year’s Grounds for Murder, the second book in a cozy mystery series set on an island off Florida’s Gulf Coast (possibly modeled after Sanibel). The main character, Lana, has a journalism background which makes for a believable sleuth, even though she’s now running a coffee shop in her home town, after having been laid off from a big Miami paper. The population of Devil’s Beach is quite a mixture of people: some she’s known all her life and some newcomers. I enjoyed revisiting the people who look like they’ll be series regulars, including Lana’s aging hippie dad, and of course, the local police chief, Noah Garcia, who is Lana’s love interest. Another recurring “character” is Lana’s puppy Stanley This definitely works as a standalone, but of course, as with any series, if you read them in order, you get more backstory.

This time there are two mysteries: the main one (who killed the local yoga instructor and spiritual guru, Raina Rose); and a smaller one (why is Lana’s wonderful cold brew coffee suddenly tasting horrible). There’s a fair amount of coffee talk (understandable!) and some lovely descriptions of the local scenery. I love Florida’s Gulf Coast, so that’s another plus for this series.

Thank you to NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for the opportunity to read an advance readers copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Raina runs a trendy hot yoga studio on touristy Devil’s Beach, Florida. One day, she disappears. Her boyfriend, Kai, uses his state senator father’s clout to get all levels of law enforcement to search for her. Since the title of the book is Cold Brew Corpse, I think you can guess what happened to Raina.

Former reporter, and current coffee shop manager, Lana, investigates Raina’s case. She tries hard to not press her new boyfriend, Police Chief Noah, too much for details. But Lana still has that reporter’s drive to solve the case.

There are mainly two suspects: Kai and Raina’s alleged stalker (or at least stan), Shawn. Though they’re a few more suspects towards the conclusion, there is really no way for an armchair detective to solve the crime ahead of Lana. The reader is only given clues as Lana discovers them. For that reason, Cold Brew Corpse receives only 3 stars from me. Read the much better first book in the series, Grounds for Murder, instead.

Cold Brew Corpse is the 2nd mystery in Tara Lush's A Coffee Lover's Mystery series. Lana Lewis works in her family's coffee shop - Perkatory - as the manager and a barista in the town of Devil's Beach, Florida. The property next door is an upcoming yoga studio called Dante's Inferno. When its owner and manager, Raina vanishes on her way back from her yoga retreat in Costa Rica and is later found dead in a swamp, Lana feels the urge to investigate, discovering that Raina seemed to have bags full of enemies.

This book had an extremely intriguing plot and I was swept along with the story from the start. Tara Lush's writing is peppy, sharp and edgy and I love her portrayal of the main character, Lana a former investigative journalist whom I found to be sassy and determined. I was also impressed by her dad who's a laid back, hippie type of guy and very supportive of his daughter. With a developing situation between Lana and Chief Noah Garcia and complete with a Shih Tzu doggy named Stanley, Cold Brew Corpse is one for those who like their cozies fresh and amusing and I can't wait to see what's next for Lana.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Crooked Lane Books via NetGalley and this is my own unbiased opinion.

Lana Lewis is just as engaging in this second book in the series. The story takes us back to the laid-back vibe of a small community where everyone knows everything about everybody. This is the kind of book you actually want to take to the beach. You will at some point get a craving for cold brew coffee.

Devil's Beach, Florida is home to a coffee shop called Perkatory. Lana Lewis once had a great job in Miami, a marriage and then her marriage went south and she lost her job as an investigative reporter. With her life plans in tatters she has taken her fathers offer and come home to run the family business and go from reporter to barista. Oh and catching a killer. Now she has another killer to deal with in this laugh out loud sequel.
The victim, Raina Rose, is a yoga instructor who has more than a few people on the "not a fan" list. When she is found dead the list of suspects is ample. From yoga students to yoga competitors, somebody did the deed. Lana may now be a barista but she will always be an investigator so she's right at home when she's asked to cover the murder. She will need to stay on her toes so she won't be next on the killer's list.
With a well crafted puzzle, a lovely setting and a great cast of characters this was a wonderful way to escape the current stressors. I hope there will be many more reading escapes with Lana.

Let me start by saying that I am not enough of an aficionado of coffee to understand the vast majority of conversations about the beverage in this book. But that’s okay, because coffee is part of the setting and not an integral part of the mystery itself. So, simply being able to accept that Lana’s other love is coffee is enough. I loved this book even more than the one before it. The Keystone Cops frenetic-ness was toned down and it all felt like it was following a logical plan. At no point while reading this was I able to point to a character and say” “that’s the villain!” and I consider that essential to my enjoyment of a good mystery. The author keeps ratcheting up the romantic tension between Lana and Chief Noah and I adored every second of it. It also provides lots of opportunities to mine for comedy gold. I’m not sure what Lana’s next adventure will be, but I want to go on it with her and her quirky band of sidekicks.

This is the second in the Coffee Lover’s Mystery series. I enjoy the humor that is infused in the story.

Lana Lewis has a lot on her plate. As with many cozies, I fail to see how the sleuth can handle their business life, sleuthing life, and family life and do it well. I liked this less than the previous book even though we get some background on her previous life.

With that said, the book is a well written standalone. I hoping the next installment will be a little more realistic. Based on this outing, I had a tough time moving this Florida set cozy to my must read series list but am willing to give the next installment a chance before I move on.

I rate this a 3.5.

I was given an advanced copy by Netgalley and am not required to leave a positive review.

This book was just not for me [I was not a fan of the first one and had hoped that this one would be better - I was wrong]. I didn't like the MC in this one [she becomes completely different than she was in the first one and is snippy, whiny and extremely judgemental along with all the sex talk, it was just too much and like she was possessed with someone else throughout the whole book], the mystery was tepid and the ending just fell flat for me. It was an overwhelmingly disappointing read.

I liked the first installment in this series but I'm not a big fun of this story.
The mystery is solid and I liked to be catch up with the characters.
I missed the humour and Lana seemed a bit too judgemental and immature.
This series has a lot of potential and hope the next novel will be up to the first.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine

When a yoga instructor goes missing Lana is excited to be going back to her journalist roots to write a story about the missing woman. She quickly discovers things are not always as they seem. In addition, she is walking a fine line trying to get information and not cross the line with her sort of boyfriend and chief of police.

This story gives you a lot of puzzles to unravel from coffee problems to murder and I enjoyed the blooming romance between Lana and Police Chief Garcia. My favorite part was the humor with actual laugh-out-loud moments. Thanks to Crooked Lane and NetGalley for an advanced review copy. The opinions expressed are my own.
