Cold Brew Corpse is the second book in the Coffee Lover's Mystery series and the events and mystery of this book immediately follows the barista competition on which the first book ended with the disappearance and discovery of the body of Raina Rose, a yoga master and resident of Devil's Beach. I felt the characters were fleshed out more and I guess that is why I enjoyed this book more than the first one. There is also a soft introduction to an event in Lana's past which led her to become a journalist and I am interested to see how this plotline will be further developed in future books. Things are heating up on the romance front between Lana and police chief Noah Garcia, her pet adopted dog Stanley keeps her entertained and on her feet with his quirky antics and cuteness and she still has hopes for reviving her journalist career by trying to solve the murder mystery while successfully managing her parents' coffee shop. Lana Lewis is definitely a busy woman!

My thanks to NetGalley, the publisher Crooked Lane Books and the author Tara Lush for the e-Arc of the book.

Publication date is 7th December, 2021.

Terrific cozy mystery. Enjoyable characters. Small town/island setting. A little romance. A clever mystery. I am eager to read more by this author. Thanks to the publisher for providing a copy via NetGalley.

This is book two in the Coffee Lover's series and it doesn’t disappoint. Lush’s writing is laugh out loud funny and Lana is quirky, but charming, and whip smart. And let’s not forget the charming and varied cast of supporting characters. Amazingly, Lush makes me, a non-coffee drinker, want to visit Perkatory. Oh and the mystery is spot on, this is a real page turner and not to be missed.

Another cute and cozy mystery!! Lana once again finds herself in trouble and solving a murder. If you like book one in the series you’ll want to read this one as well. I can’t wait for the next book.

CONTENT WARNING: murder, violence

Rounded to 3.5 stars.

I really enjoyed the first book in this series, so I obviously had to jump on the second. Since it’s been a while, I did a quick reread of book 1 in audiobook format. It put me in the mood to start this book, and settle back into the warm and sunny setting. And I chose the perfect time too, since a cold snap just started in my area.

Sitting back with a fresh cup of coffee, I dove into the story to find out what happens next. It picks up right after the last book ends, at the close of the barista championship. Things seem to be going well for Lana, both professionally and personally — business is busy at Perkatory, and her romance with police chief Noah Garcia is heating up slowly but surely. However, when the owner of the yoga studio next door turns up dead, Lana is recruited to write an article for the local paper, and everything gets topsy-turvy.

Lana definitely seems a lot more judgmental in this story than she did in the last one. We see a completely different side of her when she works as a reporter, and for someone who did this professionally for a while, I’m surprised at how she went about this. It didn’t feel very professional, and she definitely struggled to balance her duties at Perkatory with her sleuthing.

The pacing was a little inconsistent with this one, as well. Since I’m already invested in the series and the main characters, it wasn’t bad, but I’d definitely suggest reading the first book before jumping into this one. The other aspects of the story kept me reading, if only to find out what was going on with Lana and Perkatory, and her in her romance with Noah. At first, the yogi in question is just missing, and isn’t even found dead until about 40% of the way into the story. And it’s hard to muster any sympathy for her, since she seems to be the most inauthentic and offensive person ever. But it does make for quite a wide suspect pool.

There weren’t a lot of surprises in the story (see gasp factor for evidence), but I was still stuck trying to figure out who the killer was for much of the story. When the reveal did come, I wasn’t overly surprised, but I was kind of expecting it to be someone else. I did laugh out loud a couple of times, generally when Lana tries to participate in yoga. And Stanley definitely has my heart — he’s my favorite character, but then again, I’m always a sucker for a puppy.

Overall, it’s a cute, light, fluffy read. And it always makes me crave a cup of coffee, even though I’m definitely not as huge of a fan as Lana is. It kind of makes me wish I was a coffee aficionado, though. This is a series I’m hooked on, and will still be waiting for the next installment in the series. Hopefully, I’ll get back the lighthearted, non-judgmental Lana that I loved so much in the first book. And see a little more action between her and Noah, who I also love.

Lana's settled into running the family coffee shop-Perkatory- in Devil's Beach, Florida and then she gets pulled back into journalism when Fab Bellucci, who owns the yoga studio next door, is murdered! Raina had a history of problems but who hated her so much that they killed her? Well, Lana uses her nose for news to sniff out suspects. It's a classic cozy scenario enlivened by Lana's pup, her relationship with Chief Noah Garcia, and most of all, her dad, an unrepentant hippie who doesn't get enough air time in this installment. That said, it's nicely written and twisty enough to keep you guessing. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. A fun read.

This is the second book in this series, if you enjoyed the first one, you will like this one too. The author’s writing style shows through as well as the quirky characters with a fun mystery storyline. It’s a cozy mystery, which happens to be my favorite genre, so you kind of know what to expect! I look forward to the next one in the series!

Lana Lewis is adjusting to her life as the proprietor of Perkatory in her home town of Devil's Beach, Florida, after a divorce and being downsized from her job as a Miami crime reporter. The town is filled with quirky characters including her own father and Lana, herself.

Everyone is into yoga. When the hot, latest yoga sensation Raina Rose Romero goes missing, it brings back memories to Lana of the disappearance of her friend Gisela when both were young teens. Gisela's case is still unsolved. Lana begins to investigate Raina's disappearance in the hopes of a better outcome.

Lana is asked by the local newspaper editor Mike to write a freelance story about the case. Lana jumps at the chance because she misses her former career. She begins investigating to find out that Raina had as many enemies as admirers. She and her live-in boyfriend Kai seemed to be having constant arguments. She was playing up to Shawn who was almost stalker-ish. Some of her clients called her "emotionally manipulative" while others thought she was the next best thing to sliced bread.

Raina's devotion to growing her brand led her to borrowing money from lots of people including some of her students, and making enemies among the other yoga teachers on the island.

While trying to investigate Raina's disappearance and later her murder, Lana also has to keep her coffee shop going. She's having some trouble with her new cold brew coffee creation that is causing customer complaints and baffling Lana. Lana is also busy with her newly adopted Shih Tzu puppy Stanley and trying to fit in Puppy Kindergarten classes with him.

Lana and the new Police Chief Noah Garcia are also trying to find time to date. But Raina's case and Lana's need to keep her business going while sleuthing make it hard for them to find time to spend together.

I enjoyed the Florida setting and loved Lana's character. She was nicely quirky, inquisitive, and opposed to sweating in the various yoga classes.

Fans of cozy mysteries will enjoy this story.

Cold Brew Corpse by Tara Lush is the second book in her Coffee Lover's Mystery series. This book has an interesting storyline, well-developed characters and is believable. The main character, Lana Lewis who is the manager of Perkatory coffee shop and does the amateur sleuthing has a super cute little Shih Tzu pup names Stanley who stole the show for me. Otherwise I guess I am just not a big fan of this author's writing style.

I can almost smell the coffee. Lana Lewis is running the coffee shop but misses being a journalist. The hot yoga instructor has disappears and Lana sees an opportunity for a free lance job writing about it. After all the yoga studio is right next to the coffee shop.. shouldn't take much time at all. But she does admit she is nosy. The story has a nice blend of Lana at work, at home and hunting down clues on the disappearance. There are interesting characters that adds fun side stories too. I liked the book, liked the setting and liked the twist finish.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher/author for providing e-arc.

It was a good mystery. I liked the side characters more than the main character.

Love a coffee themed cozy mystery. This one is no exception. Standard formula cozy. I was dropped into a town I wasn't entirely familiar with. Became so within a page. Likeable MC. Easy going mystery. Will be picking up more from this author.

The Cold Brew Corpse is the second book in Tara Lush's A Coffee Lover's Mystery series.
This is the first book in the series I have read, and my first book by Ms. Lush. I feel the author did a wonderful job providing enough information from the first book that I don't feel as if I were missing any vital information, this book could definitely be read as a stand-alone.
I enjoyed the book; I am looking forward to future installments and seeing the characters grow and develop.
I will definitely be looking out for future books in this series.

I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. Thank you to Netgalley for the E-ARC

Grounds for Murder and Cold Brew Corpse by Tara Lush are the first and second book respectively in the cozy A Coffee Lover’s Mystery series. As with most cozy mysteries each book in this series has it’s own mystery that will be fully solved so they can be read as a standalone or in any order if choosing to do so. There will be character development that carries over from book to book though for those that follow the series from the beginning.

Lana Lewis has returned to Devil’s Beach, Florida and started a new career after leaving her journalist job. Lana is now in charge of her family’s coffee shop, Perkatory, which is a whole new world for Lana. In the first book of the series, Grounds for Murder, Lana is just about to enter the Sunshine State Barista Championship when her best employee quits on her. When Fabrizio “Fab” Bellucci is found murdered right after leaving Perkatory of course Lana ends up a suspect and needs to do everything to clear her name.

Cold Brew Corpse finds Lana back in action at Perkatory when the neighboring business owner is found murdered. With things heating up at the Dante’s Inferno yoga studio next door Lana finds herself balancing her coffee shop and also taking a job part time for the local newspaper covering the murder. Lana discovers that the owner of Dante’s Inferno has more than her share of enemies so even after her initial story is turned in Lana can’t help but keep rooting out new suspects in hopes of finding her second murderer.

When I first spotted the A Coffee Lover’s Mystery series I was torn on whether to give this one a try or not. First I love beachy settings and with this one being in Florida I was drawn to the covers and wanted to dive right in. However, I’m not a coffee lover so this one seemed like I may not be the reader since sometimes cozies can dive really deep into their themes but thankfully this one wasn’t too overpowering to be a turn off for me. When finished with the first book I had it at three and a half stars enjoying the characters, setting and mystery enough to want to return. Now having read the second I am enjoying the series even more as it really showed the main characters journalistic side. There’s also a budding romance with the detective involved and I like when the law enforcement side is involved and not made out to be useless. So now after two books of this series I definitely call myself a fan and will return for more in the future.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

The second in this cozy mystery series is an enjoyable story. Fast pacing and twists keep you guessing. Lana is developing nicely and I love her budding relationship with Noah. I didn't guess the killer or motive ahead of time which makes the story a success for me. I'm looking forward to what comes next.

The ARC of this book was provided by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Although I didn't had the privilege to read the first book of the series before picking up this one, I'm glad to say that I'll be searching my bookstores for the first. I enjoyed the dynamics of the relationship between characters. (made me wish I had the same father-daughter relationship irl too ) Regardless, I enjoyed this read and its setting, loved the pacing. Great cozy read.

Cold Brew Corpse by Tara Lush is the 2nd book in A Coffee Lover's Mystery series, and another solid addition. Lana Lewis returns home to Florida after getting a divorce. Lana is now managing her family's coffee shop, Perkatory, in Devil's Beach, FL. When the local yoga studio's owner is murdered, and the local newspaper asks Lana to cover the murder, she is excited to return to her first love, journalism. I found this book to be fun with many twists and turns, that keep me reading. The plot and characters are well developed, and I enjoy the quirky characters in the book. I recommend this book, and I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I've been enjoying ARCs from this publisher because I have found several new series to follow. I really liked this story and its setting. Lana is a good MC, and I like the setting of a coffee shop next to a yoga studio in a small beach town with a tourist clientele. Kind of standard for a mystery series like this, but the characters are interesting and the writing is good. This is the second book in the series, and I was compelled to go back to the first even though its events were mostly spoiled for me after reading book two.

This is a solid cozy mystery with enough intrigue to keep you guessing. I was interested in Lana and her father, and look forward to learning more about her and her past life as a reporter as the series continues.

Thank you NetGalley, Tara Lush and Crooked Lane Books for the copy of Cold Brew Corpse. This is my personal review.
This is the second book in the series A Coffee Lover’s Mystery.
I enjoyed this book as much as the first book and can not wait for the next one in the series.
Lana Lewis is back with us and all the wonderful characters who surround her in these books is fantastic. The author has made me want to go to Lana’s espresso coffee bar Perkatory. The location is amazing for these books.
Lana is so busy with her business that her love of sleuthing has taken a back seat but when the Raina owner of the local yoga study turns up dead Lana knows she has to find out what happened.
The path to finding out the truth was crooked, and the real killer was not at all who I thought it was going to be.

This was the first book I read in the series. I enjoyed it immensely and plan to go back and read the first book. This book was a breath of fresh air. I appreciated the fact that the author touched on a little bit what was going today in the world. Lana Lewis was a down to earth character. Someone who you could relate to. The characters in the book are lovable and I wish they could all be my fiends. The mystery kept me guessing up to the end. I thought for sure I had it all figured out and bam it was someone I wasn’t expecting!
