This might be my favorite book in the series. It takes place in a rented mansion for a Sherlockian weekend. Gemma and Jayne are catering and providing Sherlock inspired entertainment. A murder happens right in front of them and Gemma is (cautiously) on the case. I like that the main character, Gemma, doesn't do a lot of foolish things while trying to solve the case. Her boyfriend Ryan, the local police detective, is around a lot in this book, which I really liked. He finally seems to appreciate Gemma's gift of observation, and doesn't lecture her over and over about staying out of it. Finally, a cozy mystery where that isn't the constant drama between the main character and her boyfriend. I loved him working in the kitchen too, it was nice to see a different side of him. I hope that continues. Even his detective partner seems to be warming to Gemma and we get to see some of her personality (other than only as a detective). I hope that continues, too. Now we just need Gemma to show her boyfriend that she can refrain (at times) from getting involved. So there is a "meeting in the middle" between them. This book did show the beginning of that, thankfully. This was a good mystery (it kept me guessing until the end) and the manor and grounds were described perfectly. I enjoy the Donald character as well. I like that he is considered a friend, not some 'weird' character they have to deal with. A great book in the series. I'm looking forward to the next.

I really enjoyed this one! Gemma is a fun character that keeps you guessing. The Sherlock Holmes Bookshop and Emporium is a place I want to visit! I enjoyed the poison dart as the murder weapon. It’s not one I have read about. Overall Gemma throws her self into the mystery.

Thank you to Crooked Lane Books and NetGalley for providing me with an e-arc of this book.

This was a fun and enjoyable summer read. I had a nice time getting to know our main character Gemma and her friends while she untangled the mystery at hand. I thought the premise of the book to be intriguing and comforting because it was familiar enough - a group a strangers meet in a mansion for the week end - but with a few added details which made it fresh - the caterer/bookshop owner as added attendees to the week end's events. I found the mystery itself to be engaging enough to want to keep reading and the various characters were also interesting to watch. I unfortunately found myself forgetting a few of them because they got much less page time and were more peripheral to the overall plot so that was too bad. This is the first book I read from the series and so perhaps that's why I didn't care for some of the characters which felt a bit clumsily inserted into the story. I also found it disappointing to note that one character was repeatedly described by their weight with vaguely fatphobic undertones. It seemed out of place and I didn't feel it needed to be there as it added nothing to the story other than letting the reader know repeatedly that this person was bigger than the others. The writing was generally good and straightforward though there were small moments which I felt could be cut out as they did not see to add much to the plot or to the characters. Overall, I had a good time with this cozy mystery!

A Three Book Problem was a fun, intriguing cozy read.
I enjoyed the sleuthing and Gemma would be a fun person to know IF you didn’t mind a little trouble.
The characters were interesting, but some could have used a little more development.
Overall an enjoyable read and I’ll be watching for more from Vicki Delaney!

Good story! Weird cause of death in the circumstances, but that just added to the other interesting things in the plot. And the characters! They certainly are. From the regulars to the odd ones gathered to (allegedly) celebrate the brilliance of Sherlock Holmes. I have read others in the series, but this does work well as a stand alone. Loved it!
I requested and received a free temporary e-book copy from Crooked Lane Books via NetGalley. Thank you!

I cannot pass up a good cozy mystery! This Gemma Doyle series is so comforting. October is my very favorite month and I love sinking into these light mystery novels. You cannot go wrong with Vicki Delaney.

This book was sent to me
By Netgalley on Kindle. The characters are at a home for a mystery weekend. However, I was not sure what they were actually doing as it was a slow moving, at times, sporadic story. The main characters, most of them, were likeable, and readers who enjoy Sherlock Holmes might relate to this story. Try it.

I have read all the books in the Sherlock Holmes Bookshop Mysteries. Because I have read the other books in this series I knew the main characters. The addition of the other characters fitted into the story line well. The story line was good but I was disappointed in the fact that it was dragged out and at the end I lost interest.

Thank you NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for this ARC.

A Murderous Event…
The seventh Sherlock Holmes Bookshop Mystery and Autumn has descended with crisp weather and a slowing in business for the bookshop and the nearby businesses. An English country house weekend event is afoot, however, and amidst great excitement and anticipation Gemma has been asked to act as one of the caterers. The great event, unfortunately, is about to get very murderous indeed when a poison dart makes an unexpected appearance. A fun, cosy mystery with a likeable protagonist in Gemma and a colourful cast of supporting characters. A worthy addition to this long running series.

The latest installment in the well written, well plotted Sherlock Holmes Bookshop Mystery.

Our protagonist, Gemma Doyle along with her friend and business partner Jane are hired by a prominent and wealthy Sherlockian to present a Sherlock Holmes/English Country estate weekend for his fellow Sherlock fanatics at a replica of an English stately home nearby. Gemma's beau, Detective Ryan Ashburton is coming along to help out as sous chef and dishwasher.

As the weekend progresses, it becomes apparent to Gemma that some of the attendees had no knowledge of Sherlock Holmes and they didn't particularly have much in common.

When their host is murdered via poison dart during a meeting with Jane and Gemma, Gemma goes into action.

I did not see this one coming!

I received an ARC from the publisher via Net Galley but the opinion expressed is my own.

A Three Book Problem is the seventh in this cozy mystery series. True to tale the characters are quaint and quirky, keeping one engaged. What’s not to love when Vicki Delany is at the pen?

Are you a Sherlock Holmes fan? Do you like modern-day interpretations? In a cozy mystery? With a witty writer and a ton of clever characters? The Sherlock Homes Bookshop Mysteries written by Vicki Delany are for you. I've been a fan of this series since the beginning. I can't believe there are seven of them already. I've read several of the author's other series too, and she's in my top 10 of always-read writers.

In this latest installment, Gemma and Jayne travel to an estate to host an event for an eccentric Holmes fan. Ryan comes along, forgetting he's a policeman for a few days while playing sous chef. Until a murder happens, and his natural skills must be put to better use. Gemma does her best to stay uninvolved, but the clues just keep dancing in her face. Who murdered the host? One of his five strange guests? Two family members who played the butler and the housekeeper? Or an outsider? A poisoned dart killed the man, and strangely enough, it's like The Sign of Four all over again.

Clever, fun, kept my interest. Enjoyed the different setting with familiar faces. The mystery was good, but I wanted someone else to be the killer. All in all, a great continuation of the series. Definite recommend.

Gemma Doyle is back on the case in bestselling author Vicki Delany's seventh Sherlock Holmes Bookshop mystery when a poisoned dart ends in demise. This is such a fun series and the Sherlockian tie in makes it even better. Such a fun and quick read! I love all the series this author writes but this series, with a strong, proactive female protagonist is one of my favorites. Thank you NetGalley for the advanced readers copy for review.

What a fun ride. You don’t have to be a Sherlockian to absolutely love Gemma and the gang and I also loved that you don’t have to have read the other books in this series to understand and completely enjoy A Three Book Problem.
Gemma is a feisty and highly intelligent protagonist with incredible attention to details. As she finds herself on the trial of a sneaky killer after being employed to cater a Sherlockian inspired weekend retreat, her quick wit and observation skills a put to the test yet again.
A rollicking great read for any cozy mystery lover

Just such a fun read with a very likable character named Gemma! She is an amateur sleuth as well as a bookshop owner. Feel good book and a who dunnit! Summer read or whenever you don't want anything too complex to wrap your head around. Thank you NetGalley and Crooked Lane Books for the opportunity to read this ARC.

Kindle Copy from Net Galley and Crooked Lane Books.

I received a free, advance copy of this book and this is my unbiased and voluntary review.

Fall is in the air as business slow down. Caters Gemma and Jayne are asked to cater food for a Sherlockian who plans to entertain his friends lavishly in a traditional English countryside.

Seems the guests do not like each other and especially the host. Between setting up the food and entertainment they are kept busy.

Someone is not very happy as a poisoned dart sails through the library. It will be a problem for them to solve. The book never disappoints.

Gemma Doyle and the gang are back and Fall has arrived in New London. While business is dropping off along with the tourists, Gemma and Jayne are asked to cater a traditional English Country house weekend.

While surprised to find that the guests don’t seem to like their host, Gemma is even more surprised to have the host killed by a poisoned dart. Now she’s on the case and plans to flush out the killer while not becoming the next target of a poisoned dart.

Book Seven in the Sherlock Holmes Bookshop series delivers! It’s hard to believe how amazing each book is written and each one never disappoints. Love me some Vicki Delany and Sherlockians!

Gemma Doyle is at it again in this exciting addition to the series.
Gemma and her bestie Jayne are asked to participate in a
Sherlock Holmes weekend party at the Suffolk Gardens House. Gemma will be providing all the necessary materials and Jayne will be catering the event.
Accompanying the ladies is Ryan, Gemma’s boyfriend, who is also a detective with the West London police department.
David is the gentleman who is organizing the event, but it seems that all the people invited are not as excited about Sherlock Holmes as Gemma would have thought.
Things suddenly take a bizarre turn when the host is killed, and it seems everyone has their own motive for wanting him dead.

I really loved this book. It was really exciting to see Gemma slowly put the pieces together to solve the crime.
I’m looking forward to reading more in this series.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for selecting me to read an advanced copy of A Three Book Problem.
