Lost Angels (Nikki Hunt Book 3) by Stacy Green

📓Genre: Mystery | Thriller | Suspense
Star: 🌟🌟🌟🌟

🔖This is a solid fast-paced thriller that kept me hooked till the very end.
🔖Special Agent Nikki Hunt is left both devastated and determined when the serial killer she had been after for years – claims the life of one of her childhood friends. But searching for leads, she soon discovers an unexpected clue that could shockingly tie the killer with her own past.
🔖I haven't read the previous books in the series, and did miss out on a few key points about the killer and the characters. But still this book is a great read even as a standalone.
🔖The writing style is fluid and the characters are layered and believable. Agent Nikki Hunt is an intelligent and strong character – a perfect fit to be the protagonist of the story. She displays realistic levels of emotions and I truly enjoyed reading about her.
🔖The investigation was also interesting and I kept reading, eager to know the final outcome.
🔖Overall, this is an engaging fast-paced read that I'll definitely recommend!

🔸Final Verdict: Good
🔸Book Cover: I loved the cover
🔸Writing Style: Kept me hooked.
🔸Character Development: Good

Nikki Green’s nearly loses her composure at her latest crime scene. She is beyond devastated to discover that the victim was her childhood friend Annmarie What is more is she knows exactly who the killer is, or at least who he calls himsself, Frost. However, he has been tantalizingly elusive. Nikki and her team have been searching for Frost for years.

As a Special Agent with the FBI, Nikki has pretty much seen it all. However, this was her friend. Clues immediate identify the slippery killer to be Frost. He has left his calling card. Nikki cannot help but wonder how her dear friend became the latest victim. Nikki is truly shaken to her core, espeically when another clue proves that the killer just might have his sights set on Nikki herself.

Nikki has further cause for worry. She has a young daughter named Lacey, and is determined to protect her at all costs. Currently sharing custody with her ex, in fact, he is also an FBI agent, Nikki is getting serious about another man in her life, Rory. However, her personal life is forced to take a back seat while trying to track down the killer before there are any more victims.

Nikki investigates as best she can, despite the hair-raising feelings she gets the deeper the search for the killer goes. This thrilling, fast-paced read was wrought with danger and filled with tension from the very first page. There were moments of intense sadness in this story, which led to an emotional conclusion. I am definitely anticipating the next read in this exciting series.

Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

Another brilliant book in the Nikki Hunt series.
Nikki is called out after a woman’s body has been found and it looks like another one of Frost’s victims. Nikki then realises that she knows the woman and is sad that she’d lost touch with her.
It then comes to light that another girl is missing and all signs seem to point to Frost being the abductor.
Nikki starts to look into Anne Marie’s past as she can’t help thinking that her murder is something to do with their friendship.
She visits Anne Marie’s father in a residential home and even though he’s suffering from Dementia, a few things he says to Nikki about her Mum play on her mind.
Events soon take a turn for the worse and someone close to Nikki is killed, leaving her shocked, yet determined to catch Frost.
This is a gripping crime thriller that definitely had me racing through the pages to see how it ends.
A great series that I highly recommend.
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.

⌛Gripping, fast-paced story of serial murder in frozen Minnesota❄🎑

I am enamoured by FBI Special Agent Nikki Hunt and this series that follows her as she grapples with warped murderers and their victims in an icy Minnesota. I think the frozen landscape makes the atmosphere around the murders all the darker!

Nikki's got a big personal stake in catching this serial killer of women called Frost, who she's apparently been looking to nab ever since she moved back to Minnesota five years ago. When the latest victim is an old friend from high school, the stage is set for heavy personal buy-in and guilt, but twists and gradual revelations have her reeling and terrified of the killer's targets getting closer to her private life than ever. Nikki's family and their tragic past, a central factor in the first book in the series, play a crucial role again. It's not essential to read the earlier book but you should if you want to truly get what makes Nikki Hunt tick.

I never know where Stacy Green is going to end up taking me in Nikki Hunt's latest investigation and I love a murder mystery that's not predictable. As this investigation widens, Green introduces new angles and twists that kept me guessing. Here, Nikki proves emotionally vulnerable yet determined to stay the distance and confront the killer. The high-action climax is as thrilling as I'd hoped, though a bit sad.

Great thriller, excellent addition to a fine series.

Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for sharing a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.

A good fast paced book that concludes a lot of what we’ve been introduced to in the first two instalments of this series. Some serious developments in the subplot that will change things dramatically in the future and I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next

Lost Angels by Stacy Green is a highly recommended procedural and the third book in the Nikki Hunt series.

When a body is found in the Boundary Waters area in Northern Minnesota near Stillwater, FBI Special Agent Nikki Hunt, her partner Liam Wilson, and forensic specialist Courtney Hart are called in to investigate. Other than a few differences, the young woman is positioned and has all the signs indicating she is the fifth victim of a serial killer tagged as Frost. Nikki and her team have been looking for Frost for five years. When they are examining the victim Nikki is shocked to recognize her as a childhood friend she hasn't been in contact with her for years, Annmarie Mason. When the team searches for clues in Annmarie's apartment, they are even more stunned to discover that she has been tracking Frost on her own and may have known she would be a target for the killer.

The good news is that Lost Angels is an exciting procedural that will hold your complete attention while following the action, clues and discoveries. This means that most readers can set my upcoming qualms aside. Now the clues do pile, up as does the sense of an impending malevolent threat that seems increasingly personal and targeting Nikki. Adding to the unease is that Annmarie, although no longer in contact with Nikki, was following the Frost case and evidence closely, and seemed to suspect something nefarious connected to the case and the purpose of the murders. She also clearly thought correctly she was a target. When Nikki later finds a clue in Annmarie's apartment, clearly left by Frost, it shakes her up to the very core.

Now for my misgivings. First, it might help readers new to the series to read the first two books, The Girls in the Snow and One Perfect Grave, before Lost Angels as this third installment in the series really jumps right into things assuming some prior introduction to the characters and previous events. For me, a reader new to the series, most of the characters seemed underdeveloped. It was also quit clear the direction the plot was taking very early on and wondered why Nikki, presented as an intelligent, astute investigator, didn't have a clue. Finally, one must say "Goodness, how many terrible, twisty things can happen in a short period of time to one woman?" And Nikki surely has been through a whole lot before this novel takes place adding to the long list of horrendous events in her life.

If you’ve read the first two books in this series, you are going to love this! Lost Angels is the book we have been waiting for, a suspenseful read that delivers on every level, as it’s finally time to unmask Frost!

I really enjoyed The Girls In The Snow and One Perfect Grave, but they both left me wanting more. The character of Frost, a serial killer who has been on Nikki’s radar for over five years, has only been a background character so far. And this was a great ploy used by Green, using her first two books to develop characters that you want to read more about, but also teasing readers with a bigger story that’s still to come. So I’ve been craving the next instalment of this series in the hope of seeing him take centre stage. And boy, I was not disappointed.

What I’ve enjoyed most about this series is the incredibly likeable characters, and Lost Angels only draws you even closer to them. However, I do think this third instalment relies on your relationship with them. Although Green does tie up the premise of the previous books well, I would recommend that you read the first two books beforehand to build up your engagement. Then when you come back to this one, you’re sure to feel all the emotions that this series has been building up to.

If you don’t know the characters, you’re sure to still enjoy this book as a standalone, but you may find that the action is a little light as the focus is very much on the effect on Nikki, her team, and those closest to her, rather than anything too twisty or shocking. There are obviously many big surprises revealed, but it does help to already be invested in Nikki.

As somebody who has been waiting months for this third book, I can honestly say that this is definitely one of my favourite series around at the minute. I’m not sure where it’s going to head next, but I will definitely be back to find out!

(I am on the tour for this book on 29th August, so my reviews will be live then!)

When I saws Stacy Green’s Lost Angels offered by NetGalley, I just had to request it! It’s the third book in her newest series featuring FBI Agent Nikki Hunt. I’d like to thank NetGalley, Bookouture, and Ms. Green for providing me with an ARC of this thriller in return for my unbiased review. My thoughts and opinions are my own.

For previous readers of this series, you know about the serial killer known as Frost. For those who have not read the first two books, I would suggest you do that before diving into this book, as there are references to the killer’s M.O., previous victims, as well as the good guys’ personalities and background.

Lost Angels begins with the Prologue. Hint, hint. Then comes the actual murder scene, which is set in the Boundary Waters in northern Minnesota. I could barely imagine Nikki’s shock and grief when it hit her. The victim was her former childhood best friend. Although she has some doubts, there are enough clues to tell her that this is indeed the work of the killer she’s been hunting for all these years.

Naturally, she’ll step aside and let her partner, Liam, take the reins. Nope. She’s the boss. She knows this case intimately, and she has the inside track. She promises to relinquish control if she becomes too emotionally involved. Ahem. Yeah, right. Little does she know how close to home this case will get.

Stacy Green does a fabulous job piling layer upon layer of events and clues and crises after another. It’s like a snowfall coated with ice followed by melting and refreezing, topped with more snow, followed by a major blizzard! Wow! This Frost fellow does NOT give up. Neither does Nikki.

I won’t repeat what you can read in the blurb, but there is plenty of white-knuckle action near the end, including, I’m afraid, a not entirely happy ending.

Stacy Green, now that the storm is over, I hope you will continue to bring us more of Nikki Hunt!

5 stars

A digital copy of this book was given to me by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I love Nikki Hunt and her team and they are back at it again trying to track down a serial killer. However, after years of searching for the one they call Frost, he appears to be looking for Nikki. Nikki once again finds herself in the midst of her hometown tracking down a killer and they are closing in on him. From the newest murder victim, a missing woman and a child abduction there is no time to rest. Nikki faces a few issues from her past and will have to come to grips with changes in the near future. This book was fast paced and was hard for me to put down. Thank you NetGalley, Bookouture and Stacy Green.

This is book #3 in the Nikki Hunt series. Whilst it is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone book, although I would recommend reading the other books in the series for better understanding of the characters. FBI Special Agent Nikki Hunt is called to investigate the discovery of a body, but is shocked to see it is someone she knows. It looks like it may be the work of a killer known as Frost who Nikki has been trying to catch for the last few years. There are some subtle differences between this case and previous ones, and it’s down to Nikki and her team to work it all out.

I have read the previous two books in the series, but I have to admit that this book was definitely my favourite! I have really liked Nikki’s character throughout. She’s smart, clever and hard-working, but has experienced some awful things in her life. I loved how she tries to pick herself up and carry on despite what obstacles may come her way. This book unfortunately brings Nikki more upset in so many ways and I really felt for her all the way through the story. The serial killer known as Frost is back and like Nikki, I couldn’t wait to find out who Frost was. The storyline was full of suspense, keeping me on the edge of my seat for fear of what may happen next. The location was cold and icy and this certainly helped to send chills down my spine in more ways than one!

The pace picked up as the story moved on and we are slowly fed clues as to who Frost may be. I have to admit I had no idea as to where the storyline was going, and I loved trying to work it out along with Nikki. The book was full of tension right up to the very last page and I found myself turning the pages quickly to reach the conclusion! This book was not only full of heart stopping and jaw dropping moments, but it had me wiping away tears as well. Nikki Hunt is a great lead character and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed reading this series so far. I shall very much look forward to the next book in the series to carry on Nikki’s story! Would definitely recommend!

I would like to thank Netgalley and Bookouture for an advance copy of Lost Angels, the third novel to feature FBI Agent Nikki Hunt of the Minnesota Bureau.

When Nikki goes to a murder site she realises that she knows the victim, her childhood friend Annemarie Mason, but it is Annemarie’s apartment that surprises her as she has been tracking a serial killer and seemed to know she might be next. A photo of Nikki’s mum left there implies that the killer has an unhealthy interest in her and her family.

I thoroughly enjoyed Lost Angels which is an engrossing read with several twists. It is told from Nikki’s point of view so the reader can live the investigation with her. The novel seems to be a never ending series of reveals designed to draw the reader further in and it worked for me. This is not surprising as Nikki and the team start from zero on identifying the killer, so every little nugget of information discovered adds to the picture. I must admit that I got to the motive much quicker than she did, but this did not spoil my enjoyment of the novel as there are plenty of events and surprises to keep most readers entertained and reading.

If you really want to nitpick, much of the plot is unlikely but who cares? It’s entertaining, engrossing and compulsive and I read it in one sitting, desperate to know what was coming next.

Lost Angels is a good read that I have no hesitation in recommending.

As the small plane flew over the ice toward Boundary Waters near Stillwater, Minnesota, Special Agent Nikki Hunt had no idea her life was about to change dramatically. Her heartbreak when the frozen body turned out to be Nikki’s best friend from her childhood, almost outweighed her shock at seeing the signature clues to the killer named Frost whom Nikki had been pursuing for years. Burying her grief to focus on the case, both Courtney and Liam had her back and concentrated on doing everything they could to help Nikki find this vicious killer.

As the investigation deepened, the team discovered another young woman had gone missing. She was the sister of Frost’s first victim and as Nikki saw the slight deviation from his usual manner of killing, her suspicions escalated. Was Frost somehow connected to her own family? Surely not! But when Nikki started to feel unsafe both for Lacey, her daughter, and those others she loved, Nikki knew her time was rapidly running out. She needed to bring down Frost once and for all…

Lost Angels is the 3rd in the Nikki Hunt series by Stacy Green, and wow! What a chilling thriller! From the first page to the last, the action was all ‘go’ and the FBI team and those helping out had very little sleep. Nikki is a strong, empathetic character and her FBI partner, Liam, is focused, intent and willing to do anything in his power. Courtney is a good friend and support to Nikki, also doing all she can. I’m thoroughly enjoying this series and recommend Lost Angels highly.

With thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my digital ARC to read in exchange for an honest review.

Lost Angels is a page-turner of a story. That grabbed me from the start and never let go. As FBI Agent Nikki Hunt is called to a crime scene and makes a shocking discovery, the victim is her old friend Annmarie...... and Frost the serial killer Nikki and her team have been hunting is back with a vengeance. And this time it's extremely personal.

And with big twists, shocks galore and devastating blows. Not to mention an ending that had me on the edge of my seat this was an enthralling read. With a killer I did not see coming.

Would definitely recommend.

Hooks you from the start!
The elusive Frost is back and this time his victim is Nikki's childhood friend Annemarie.  Nikki has to dig into her painful past to find the connection to catch him. Full of twists and turns, tension and some heartbreak, this was an unputdownable read.  I can't wait for the next one.

This is the third book in the Nikki Hunt series.
In this installment Nikki is still trying to find the killer called Frost. He kills a woman each year and leaves them in the frozen wilderness. As Nikki reaches the latest victim she realizes it is her best friend from her school days.
Nikki is trying to balance her job as a special agent with motherhood and a personal life. As she follows the clues to find the killer she starts to wonder if he is connected to her in some way.
I enjoy the characters and their own quirks. I especially like her spunky daughter Lacey.
I am looking forward to the next book in the series!

Many thanks to netgalley and Bookouture for the advance copy. All opinions are my own.

This is the third book in a series featuring Nikki Hunt, an FBI Special Agent based in Stillwater Minnesota. It carries on from the previous books and ties up some loose threads, but can be read perfectly well on its own. A serial killer, nicknamed “Frost”, has been killing, by lethal injection, one woman a year for the previous four winters, leaving their bodies deep frozen in the Minnesota wilderness. All appear to have been killed elsewhere and later laid out as if for a wake – until the latest victim, Annemarie, who was killed in situ, after the spring melt had begun, and arranged slightly differently.
She had been a friend of Nikki’s in the distant past and certain discoveries start to indicate that the murders may all be connected to that past. Is the killer someone she knows? The plot is basically a standard police procedural and works fairly well in that mode, although deducing the solution is not very difficult. Overall it reads fairly smoothly and it does have a fairly tense ending, but I feel there could have been more jeopardy, so it doesn’t really work as a thriller.
I would like to thank NetGalley, the publishers and the author for providing me with a draft proof copy for the purpose of this review.

Lost Angels is another gripping read in the Nikki Hunt series by Stacy Green. I am loving these books; Nikki Hunt is such a fascinating and a brilliant character. This time around she is on the hunt again for a serial killer who has haunted her career, following the discovery of the body of her childhood friend. Nikki’s desperation to get justice for her friend and find the killer comes through very clearly on the page. It’s a fast-paced, unputdownable read. I think this is definitely my favourite book in this series to date.

This book is an emotional rollercoaster for Nikki. Her character comes through so strongly in Stacy’s writing. It is clear she will do anything to bring the killer, known to the police as Frost to justice. You can see clearly how Frost makes Nikki and her team nervous. They have no idea when he will strike again, and they are determined to stop him in his tracks before he has the chance to kill again. The stakes in this book really couldn’t be higher for Nikki. It’s what makes this book such an entertaining read.

Like Nikki, I wanted to find out who Frost was and what his motive was here. It’s what was making me turn the pages faster and faster. It becomes clear as Nikki is investigating the case that her friend may have been onto Frost. I wanted to know what her friend knew about him and if she had been close to discovering who he was. Was that what prompted Frost to kill her, to keep her quiet? Or was there another reason? Why was Nikki’s friend investigating him on her own in the first place?

Stacy Green keeps the tension turning up a notch as Nikki and her team close in on the killer. As they begin to understand who he is it makes the book even more chilling. It makes me wonder how things will progress from here for Nikki, especially after everything that has happened to her in this book. The final scenes were so tense, and I had no idea how things were going to pan out.

Stacy Green is a writer who knows how to keep her readers captivated. If you love fast paced crime novels and if you are a fan of serial killer thrillers, then this series is a must read. I can’t recommend it highly enough. I can’t wait to catch up with Nikki Hunt again, hopefully very soon.

FBI Agent Nikki Hunt is back!

In Books 1 and 2, Agent Hunt was hunting for an infamous serial killer called Frost and the third book is solely focused on Frost when Agent Hunt's former classmate and friend Annmarie was murdered in Frost's signature style.. Now determined to catch this serial killer, Nikki Hunt along with her FBI team must work together to carach this guy for good. In the mean time, she finds a deep secret about her mother...

Like the previous book, this book is one heck of a roller coaster ride! From the first page to the end, the book is packed with twists and turns, fast paced that I was literally hooked into the book! I felt like I was watching an episode of Criminal Minds when I was reading the book that I couldn't literally wait to find out who this Frost is and what Nikki's mother's secret was! As always, Nikki Hunt is a great character though there were some tits and bits of emotional scenes in the book with the death of loved ones. Overall, I have got nothing but good things to say about this book! Unputdownable and will keep you up all night reading this book!

This book worth five stars! Many thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC. The review is based on my honest opinion only.

Jaw dropping ending. Full throttle all the way, with moments of stillness so you can catch your breath. Pain and struggle as Nikki battles Frost and deals with tangles in her relationship. Everything was vivid, my heart hurt for her. Through it all we still see this is a team and it was so awesome so see more of Liam and Courtney. This is a magnificent, twist, heart stopping thriller. Thank you Bookouture and NetGalley for the arc. You are one of my favorite publishers and willing share your awesome authors with readers who love them, and reviewing. This book is a conclusion on the Frost case that started in book 1, but not an ending for Nikki Hunt, thank goodness. I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions. I recommend you read book 1 and 2 first for the full effect, but enough info is provided you can read this as a stand alone. Why cheat yourself, grab 1 and 2.
