Master chocolatier, Charlee Chambers has plans to open Charlee's Chocolates on Castle Street, located in the North Yorkshire seaside town of Whitsborough. Raised by her grandparents, Charlee is scattering her gran's ashes alongside those of her grandad and realises that something in her life needs to change. Her current boyfriend Ricky, a joiner and labourer, has landed a new job and is moving to Whitsborough Bay which is also where he grew up so he persuades Charlee to sell her grandparents home and follow him there hence her decision to open her new chocolate shop. The shop is to be ready for Christmas opening but can Charlee have everything ready by then and is she ready to face the future and move on from her memories?

I easily warmed to Charlee who had a sad start to her life when her mum abandoned her. I adored the charming setting of Castle Street in the North Yorkshire seaside town of Whitsborough Bay. This is my sixth book by Jessica Redland and I enjoyed as just as much as the others. The characters are adorable and even the unpleasant ones such as Gabby were great in their roles. Once again, I really enjoyed how the author developed her characters. I appreciated the supporting cast, especially her best friend, Jodie and her new friend, Matt. Jessica Redland's descriptions of Castle Street and Whitsborough Bay were perfect and I dreamt of walking down the cobbles and popping into the various shops located there.

The Christmas theme was enchanting with its festive allure and the story's overall tone was mostly snug and magical, bringing with it all that delicious chocolatey goodness and sweet, heady aromas. Along with the pleasing characters, there were dashes of smouldering romance, an abundance of scrummy sounding treats, and touching moments. All in all, Christmas Wishes at the Chocolate Shop is a lovely, heartwarming, and emotional novel of cosiness and of romantic opportunity that I have no hesitation in recommending. I look forward to reading more from Jessica Redland.

This is another book set in Whitsborough and continues to provide us with the backstories of the people who run businesses in the town. The first half of the book talks about Charlee and her relationship with her boyfriend and with chocolate.
The premise is unique and has different family dynamics to some of the other stories that I have encountered by the author set in this town. It is hard to rally around a lead protagonist, though, who does not make an effort to adjust to her surroundings or investigate any odd incidents. This annoyed me during the first half, even as I liked the build-up that was being provided. I kept waiting for the inevitable bombshell to be dropped. The second half had Charlee set up her business and take it off the ground with the help of trusted friends, old and new. This part was well done, and I liked watching everything fall into place.
I did not buy into the ultimate pairing, which explains my rating of this book. The characters were individually fantastic to read about. I liked the feelings they generated, but I did not wait for their happily ever after!
This author does a great job of describing a location and the characters within it. She invites us in and lets us wander around. I will continue to pick up others books by her even though my reads have been 50-50 in the like/did not enjoy category. I do this because the ones I like, I really like, and this makes every read worth the effort. The narrative itself flows effortlessly and is a quick, almost one-sitting read.
I would recommend the author and the overall series to fans of the genre.
I received an ARC thanks to NetGalley and the publishers, but the review is entirely based on my own reading experience.

A lovely British starting over and taking chances story with lots of Christmas feels.
I really liked Charlee; she's hard working, loyal and hopeful.

Toward the end of the book, we are introduced to some of the other shops on Castle Street. I was happy to see they appear in other books so the magic of Whitsborough Bay can continue (even if it is out of order!) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was a delightful holiday treat! I became utterly engrossed in the lives of the characters, and loved the beautiful setting that Jessica Redland created. It was emotional in a happy, heartwarming way. The annoying boyfriend drove me crazy but it created an interesting dynamic. This story continued to throw surprising twists and turns that drove me to quickly devour the whole thing! I will be recommending this for anyone wanting a fun, holiday romance!

Sometimes you just need a little Christmas magic to make your wishes come true...
When master chocolatier, Charlee, takes the leap to move to the picturesque seaside town of Whitsborough Bay, she is determined to follow in her grandfather's footsteps and set up a chocolate shop.
Luckily, she finds the perfect location for Charlee's Chocolates on beautiful Castle Street... Now she just has to refurbish it in time for Christmas!
With a useless boyfriend and countless DIY disasters, Charlee doesn't know if she'll make it in time. With no 'traditional' family to support her, she feels lost in her new surroundings and the secrets of the past are weighing her down.
But the warmth and festive spirit of the Whitsborough Bay community will surprise her, and when plumber, Matt, comes to the rescue, it might be that all of Charlee's dreams could come true this Christmas, and she could learn what family really means...
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for allowing me to read this, I love Jessica Redland and having got a few pages into the book realised i had already read it. But as i was enjoying it i carried on. Jessica writes stories that you want to wrap yourself up in. I want to know these people, i want to do my Christmas shopping there!! I wont spoil it, but for anyone who has read any of the stories featuring Whitsborough Bay it is on par with them all and for those of you that havent.....why not?

When Charlee's grandmother - the only mother figure she had ever known - passes away, Charlee is forced to take a reckoning of her own life. In short succession she sells the house, quits her job in a chocolate shop and moved 90 minutes away to start afresh with her boyfriend.
She sets up her own chocolaterie and makes a host of new friends, but the path to happiness is rarely smooth, and the fates throw many things at her before she gets her happily ever after.
Because she does get her happily ever after - thats what these books do. Christmas Wishes at the Chocolate Shop is a hot-chocolatey warm, cosy romance that follows a tried and tested formula. Its an easy, enjoyable read.
I did get frustrated early on in the story at the thought of a 90 minute drive constituting a "long distance relationship" (my daily commute was longer!), but aside from that, Charlee and her friends were likeable, the villains definitely NOT, the settings were gorgeous, and the ending ultimately satisfying.
There are no surprises here, but sometimes we need comfort food for the brain too. Its a soft, comfortable beach/holiday/lockdown read.

Following your dreams is never easy and without the support of your family, it makes it that much harder. THen trow in the stress of starting your own business and a remodel and as you read you will wonder how Charlee doesn't go flat out crazy. Especially after you get to know her awful boyfriend. But haven't we all known wonderful women who are with the wrong guy??? Poor Charlee is that friend. But on the bright side, she needs to hire a plumber, and he turns out to be a great one at that.
I enjoyed reading this novel this summer and it really got me looking forward to the upcoming holiday season.
AND I highly recommend finding and connecting with Jessica Redland on social media sites, she really does love to interact with her readers. Happy Holidays.

Charlee is a master chocolatier and when she loses her job she decides to move to her boyfriend's home town of Whitsborough Bay and set up her own business in the amazing Castle Street. Ricky however is far from the perfect boyfriend that she thought and she finds herself turning more and more to her new friend Matt who really helps her set up her new business.

Another lovely warmhearted book from this author I love all of the Whitsborough Bay books and this one is no exception. There is plenty going on and a few secrets to uncover and I love the characters of Charlee, Jodie and Matt... perfect Christmas book to curl up with and read in one session

I really want to say I loved this book. While I didn’t dislike it, it was not a favorite read for me.
The main character, Charlee, made the most ridiculous and stupid decisions! I found myself getting exasperated with her over and over again. It took her FOREVER to see what was going on with her boyfriend. Ricky. Like really???? I cheered when she kicked him to the curb. And, to be honest, some of the situations that arose were just way out there/unrealistic.
What I did like and did keep me engaged was the humorous aspects, the relationship between Charlee and Matt and the friendship between Charlee and Jodie. The authors description of Whitsborough was lovely.
Overall, a ok read but not one I’d want to read again.
Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and author for the opportunity to read this book for my honest opinion. All opinions expressed are my own.

4.5 but I'm going to round up. I knew I'd like this book, I thought it sounded sweet and festive. I wasn't prepared for how much I liked it. I'd never read anything by Jessica Redland before and I feel like I've been missing out. This book had me engrossed. There was so much substance to the plot and the characters were fantastically developed and had real depth. Honestly, I nearly threw my kindle across the room several times due to Ricky's behaviour. That's sign of good writing. There were a couple of twists that I wasn't expecting at all. All in all just a brilliant read with a lovely ending. Jessica Redland, you've got yourselfa new fan..

Christmas Wishes at the Chocolate Shop
author: Jessica Redland
Boldwood Books

A stroll down charming Castle Street in the seaside town of Whitsborough Bay leads to the homey and inviting Charlee's Chocolate Shop. A glass display case offers truffles, caramels, fondants, and white, milk or plain chocolates, all lovingly made by owner and master chocolatier Charlee. She loves being part of the Castle Street independent business district, surrounded by shops selling crafts, flowers, cakes, books, guitars, and teddy bears.
Prior to moving to her new community, Charlee had scattered her Nanna's ashes on the sand dunes of Spurn Point Nature Reserve, and had lost her grandpa five years earlier, as well. Raised by her grandparents, Charlee continued the legacy of chocolate making left by her grandpa when she opened her own business. She knows no other family, but is blessed to have a devoted best friend, Jodie. Her handsome new friend and plumber, Matt, saves the day when she has a store plumbing emergency. While experiencing personal disappointments and discoveries along the way of establishing her career, the chocolate shop always provided a lifeline of support.
Ms. Redland's warm, descriptive writing allows the reader to feel part of this community, which comes alive at Christmas. Her story is one of family connections, new beginnings, Christmas festivities, and loads of small town coziness and romantic possibilities. I'd love to have a chocolate making party with my girlfriends at Charlee's Chocolates in December, and maybe have my own Christmas wishes granted on Castle Street!

I really did have a Christmas in July, our son cooked a full Christmas dinner for my birthday ( it's not safe to eat out ) and also being able to read this fantastic new novel from Jessica. She takes us back to Castle Street with a new owner moving into her new shop, chocolate of course. You will be hard pushed to find a better author than Jessica, all her books are brilliant and once you start you don't want to stop but it is sad when you get to the end as you want more. Jessica, I would give you at least 15 stars if I was able but5 is the limit so that is what you are getting. As a reader I am 100% percent sure that you will enjoy this novel and all her others. Looking forward to much more fantastic books from you. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK TO EVERYONE

This was a delightful read, a real sweet treat!

Charlee is a lovely character and you will find yourself rooting for her to succeed.

Although this is loosely set around Christmas, this isn’t too strong a theme and is a gentle read for any time of the year.

An author that’s new to me but one I will definitely now look out for.
