This book was just sadly not for me! I was hoping for something different but it turned out to be something I was not expecting, which is okay and I'm sure someone else would love it!

I just absolutely had so much fun and I was so sad to turn the last page. I can’t wait to read more wonderful stories from this author.

The Do-Over is the first book in the Finding Home series by Melissa MacKinnon. This was a fun little second chance story where it was more than just the romance getting a second chance. Maggie is also getting a second chance at living the life she wants, even if she doesn't know just what she wants. Finn knows what he wants, and he's not about to let it slip away again. They're both stubborn and completely cute together. I enjoyed getting to know them, and I absolutely loves the Maine setting. Maine is on my list of Must See places, and after reading this, I think I need to bump it up a bit higher on my list. I truly enjoyed Maggie and Finn's story, and I think it's a great little book to help escape reality for a while.

Maggie and Finn got married during a wild Vegas trip. Unaware they were still married, Maggie found out through filing paperwork to marry someone else years later. She had to reach out to Finn for a divorce. Another sweet weekend together lead this unlikely couple to rethink divorce plans. I love the idea or premise of instalove and I have read other books on surprise Vegas weddings. This one missed the mark though for me. Yes, it was very sweet, but a bit boring and predictable.

Thank you to the publisher and @netgalley for this second chance romance. I love a good romance with forgotten marriage and coming from opposite worlds. I adore Finn’s family and how they accepted Maggie with open arms. I was glad to see that Maggie learned so much about herself with Finn and standing up to herself.

Finn and Maggie meet in Vegas and as a result of a lot of alcohol wake up married to each other. They agree to get a divorce but eight years later when she goes to get a marriage license, she finds out she is still married to Finn. Finn has thought about the girl that got away for the last eight years so when she lands on his door step he has his second chance to get her to see that they are right for each other. Has fate finally pushed these two together for unfinished business and will it lead them to rekindling that weekend and this time around a happily ever after? I voluntarily agreed to receive an ARC of this book for an honest review.

A heartwarming romance that gets the reader in all the feelz-- I thoroughly enjoyed this book and recommend it to all who enjoy an emotional romance with a happy ending!

The Do Over is a spin on the movie Sweet Home Alabama, which is fantastic because I love that movie.

Finn and Maggie got married on a dare in Vegas and thought it was all annulled the next day, fast forward 8 years and it turns out, it wasn't Now Maggie has to get that annulment before she can take her place as a trophy wife and live the high society wife.

Finn is seriously the perfect book husband/non husband. He is sweet, charming, rugged, fiercely devoted to his family and of course, seriously hot. Maggie has more depth to her which made it a good read and great evolution.

I loved the ending and the journey along the way, although I think we could have gotten more resolution to her life especially with her family.

I was looking forwards to reading this book and it was truly good. I enjoyed the relationship between the hero and heroine.

This second chance romance by new to me author Melissa Mackinnon was an enjoyable way to spend an afternoon. Married on a dare in Las Vegas 8 years prior, Maggie Kelley realizes she’s still married when she and the man her father wants her to marry go to pick up their marriage license. Finding out this information leads her fiancé to dump her and she’s not altogether sad about that. Now across the country in small town Maine, Maggie sets out to secure the divorce from Finn Garrity who promises he’ll sign the paperwork if she’ll pretend to be his fiancé for the weekend. The more time they spend with one another, the more Maggie realizes she likes the person she is around Finn and well Finn, he’s determined to win his wife back for keeps this time.
This was a fun and entertaining story and while at first Maggie’s attitude and entitlement made me not like her all the much, she did grow quite a bit throughout this story or maybe it was that Finn brought out the best in her. Finn was a great hero; kind, loving, and always trying to do the right thing by everyone. I enjoyed seeing him open up and enjoy life when Maggie was around.
While these two definitely come from different worlds, it is easy to see the connection they have and the spark between them as this book plays out. I loved the quiet moments when they both opened up to one another. I loved Finn’s selflessness even if he was being a bit pig headed about it, but most of all I loved that they both realized they were better human beings with the other one by their side.
Great characters, a romantic love story, and a HEA, what more can you want?

I kept picking this up earlier to read, but that opening page of trigger warnings had me put this back down. However, when I finally girded myself for some serious trauma reading, this book was Harlequin froth and went down fairly easy.

I’m sorry to say that I really didn’t care much for this book. The writing style was fine, but the story itself was filled with one preposterous thing after another. The two leads, Finn and Maggie, met and married after a drunken vacation in Las Vegas years ago. And now, when faced with one another again after learning their divorce was never finalized, Finn decides that he’s always loved Maggie and wants to try and convince her to give their marriage a go. Never mind that they live on opposite coasts, that they only knew one another for a few days, that eight years have passed when he seemed perfectly content to live his life without Maggie in it. And he convinces Maggie to play the part of his fiancé because he’s worried it might kill his grandmother to know the truth. Ooookay. His grandma is perfectly healthy and it seemed a really silly and flimsy excuse to keep the couple together. And if they really wanted to try to convince his family they were engaged, it might have been a good idea for them to at least get to know one another a bit and get their stories straight. This book turned out to be a case of accepting one unbelievable thing after another. It was terribly contrived and there were far too many contradictions, too. All in all I just couldn’t suspend my disbelief enough for this story to work for me.

It was a fun and entertaining story that suit me fine for this hot summer day. I liked the storyline and it was visible how the main character is developing during the story.. A really sweet and delightful second chance story from a new to me author that I will read again for sure.

Unfortunately this book did not work for me. The two main characters had too much that was different and really didn't work together for me. The sex scenes didn't work for me, and there were ways that things were described that just made me cringe. I was unable to finish the book. I pushed through as far as I could, 76%, but at that point I just had to put it down. Because of that, I don't feel it is fair for me to really give it a rating since I didn't finish it. But that is what my rating represents.

The book starts strong and ends strong, but the middle just ... drags. Nothing really happens. So although I loved the characters, I found myself struggling to push through to the end, which was a real shame!

The Do Over by Melissa MacKinnon was a very cute read.

It reminded me a little of Sweet Home Alabama except that they were not in fact childhood sweetheart. However it had a nice easy plot and adorable characters that were lovable.

Definitely a good read when you aren’t feeling well to better your mood.

This was sweet and quick. With a granny with a fabulous persona, which is always my favorite side character in a book. They dealt well with some of the heavier things in their lives before they had each other which is good. Definitely insta love even though it’s been a long time (you’ll get it when you read it)
