I love this series by Lauren Elliot. Addie is the amateur sleuth and she usually figures the who done it out. This one, though, hit a little close to home for her, but she does well. There is such a great story behind the mystery with the town of Greyborne Harbor. If you love a great cozy this is a good series. A GREAT READ.

I enjoy reading this long running series about Addy Greyborne, her friends and books. Her cousin, who always annoys me, is being accused of murdering her boyfriend and Addie needs to prove her innocence. Fun to catch up with old characters and introduced to new.

Once again Lauren Elliott has written an excellent installment in her Beyond the Page Bookstore series. To the Tome of Murder is the 7th in the series and has Addie Greyborne helping to find the murderer of her cousin Kalea's boyfriend before police chief Marc arrests Kalea for the crime. While trying to solve this crime, Addie is in the midst of Thanksgiving preparations, including ensuring her bookshop has ample supply of Civil War era cookbooks to satisfy the business owners competing in the Civil War-era themed cooking competition.

In this story the characters we've come to know and love through the other books in the series only continue to endear themselves to the reader. Even those we may not have liked so much have grown and make you 'take their side' in this book. We are introduced to some new characters as well and it will be interesting to see how their stories evolve in the next book. Relationships continue to grow and the author throws in some teasers that are not addressed in this book, keeping you wondering until the next installment in the series!

The mystery is complex, weaving several story lines together that finally enable the solving of the crime. The ending of this book was very much unexpected, as was the rationale for why the culprit committed the murder.

I truly enjoy spending time with Addie and her friends in Greyborne Harbor and will look forward with anticipation to number 8 in the series!

Addie and friends are once again on the case. Her cousin's boyfriend is murdered and she is the prime suspect. Meanwhile, the entire community is Civil War crazy due to a cooking contest and Thanksgiving is close at hand. A great addition to this always satisfying series.

I've never read anything by Elliott, and I found this to be an enjoyable cozy mystery overall. I enjoyed the characters and setting. What's not to love about a bookstore?! It was fun to sleuth things out with the characters.

Well, Addie and Kalea still annoy me, but less so in this book! Besides Addie, I enjoyed the mystery and all the plot lines. I do think that it’s starting to get a bit convoluted though and wonder how things will progress in the next book. And, this love triangle is starting to irk me as well.

Greystone Harbor is running a Civil War themed cooking and baking competition with free publicity for the winner and a cash prize. Addie has increased the Beyond The Page Bookstore's inventory to include a selection of books dedicated to that time period to support the competition.

She receives an unexpected call from her cousin Kayla who runs a dress shop a few doors down.
When she arrives, she finds her cousin's boyfriend Jarod dead. While the shop has been ransacked, there is no sign of forced entry. Nothing appears to be missing, other than Jarod's briefcase. Unfortunately, it appears that Kayla is the only suspect.

Addie doesn't believe Kayla is guilty and investigates Jarod's financial interests in different businesses around town. Is the briefcase an important clue?

Enjoyed catching up with the lives of the various characters and learning more about the harbor's inhabitants.

Thanks to NetGalley for a copy.

Addie Greyborne lives in Greyborne Harbor, named for an ancestor, and owns Beyond the Page Bookstore. One morning she receives a frantic call from her cousin Kayla Hudson, who owns a dress shop a few blocks away, and when she arrives she finds Kayla crying, and Kayla's boyfriend JArod behind the counter, dead. After calling the police, things start to go really awry, with Kayla as the main suspect in his death. Addie has had problems with Kayla in the past, but she refuses to believe her cousin is a killer. With no help from her ex-boyfriend and chief of police Marc, Addie decides to investigate herself and find out who wanted to kill the man.

But it isn't going to be easy, especially with everything else going on. There's a contest on recipes from the Civil-War era, and she's swamped with people buying books on both recipes and the era. Then there's the only thing missing from Kayla's shop: Jarod's briefcase. What at first seems like a burglary gone wrong sets Addie's instincts humming telling her there's something else afoot. When a major clue turns up later in the case, Addie needs to call in reinforcements from an unexpected source. Still, the evidence is piling up against Kayla, and Addie's racing against time. Something she doesn't have much of...

This is the seventh book in the series, and I have read every one of them. I have greatly enjoyed spending time with Addie and her friends, even if some of them can be annoying at times. I did like this book quite a bit, and there was plenty going on throughout from the various subplots. We're watching the characters evolve quite a bit, and their lives are changing, although I still can't warm up to Kayla (my own opinion). I remember how she treated Addie in previous books, and Addie has a better control on her mouth than I would have! (ha!). Ms. Elliott has a true feel for her characters which keeps the series moving along wonderfully.

But finding out who is setting up Kayla to take the fall is giving Addie a headache, since she can't really put her finger on one specific person. (I knew who it was almost immediately when I met them, but then again, I read a lot of mysteries, so there's that). Still, watching her glean her information piece by piece while she also learns about a mysterious person in town who has just come to her attention is worth it alone.

There are changes in the book as well; some unexpected and others not so much; and the usual altercations between Addie and Martha, who are like oil and water together, as always; and Addie might just discover something about herself.

When the ending comes and the murderer is revealed, it is not without a decent climax, and the reason for the murder is rather sad in itself, although I still couldn't quite feel sympathy for the killer. Such is life, I guess. But I was torn at the epilogue; while I wanted more, I didn't quite find it, yet we still have something to look forward to in the next book. Highly recommended.

Addie and Paige are preparing their stock to support an upcoming cooking contest featuring Civil War recipes. As they focus on building up their offerings, Addie gets a call from her cousin Kalea who has found her boyfriend dead in her dress shop. Soon it becomes clear that Kalea is the main suspect and Addie can’t see her cousin as a murderer, even if she herself has a hard time believing it. Now Addie has to clear her cousin’s name AND keep the Civil War stock fresh, making for a very busy time.

With all the commotion about the Civil War, Addie begins receiving information from a librarian friend in Boston and soon finds a link between some missing books and someone in her town. Addie can’t help but think that there may be some small connection between the missing books and Jared’s murder. Unfortunately, the police can’t go by Addie’s gut feeling and she has to find proof. While Addie is hoping to stitch this one up quickly, she doesn’t want to become the killers next target.

This is a fabulous series that gets better with each entry as the recurring characters lives evolve and become more real. Relatable characters, a smart and sassy protagonist, a cute pooch, and a solid whodunit each time makes for a great cozy series! While I have read them all, the books read fine as a stand alone per my BFF who started with the third book and is now hooked.

I very much enjoyed my return to Greyborne Harbor and catching up with Addie and friends. Of course Addie = murder as expected. This is book seven in the series and I actually had to double check that. The series is still fresh and characters vary to keep one guessing.

The timing involves getting ready for Thanksgiving as a Civil War themed cooking contest is announced. I enjoy those discussions and learning about books of the time and recipes. Serena is determined to win along with half the town.

The murder hits close to family but not family. No spoiler! The who part kept me guessing and I admit I had no idea up until close to the reveal. The why I did not see coming. The ending was great and I look forward to book 8!

Lauren Elliott continues to entertain and make this series fun and a must read for fans. For those new to the series, do start at the beginning as it is worth it.

Days before Thanksgiving, Addie receives a frantic call from her cousin that her boyfriend is dead. When Addie arrives on the scene, the boyfriend appears dead of a clothes hanger impalement.

Addie is desperate to prove her cousin's innocence and uses all her connections and brainpower to try to solve the murder before her cousin is arrested.

A fun cozy mystery that kept me guessing!

Lauren Elliott welcomes fans back to Greyborne Harbor in the 7th installment of the Beyond the Page Bookstore Mystery series!

Thanksgiving can be a busy time, but add in a baking contest and a side of murder, well... Addie Greyborne has a full plate! Book 7 lets the reader enjoy even more from their favorite characters in previous books. I enjoyed seeing more from all the interpersonal relationships: family, friends, romances... I've always enjoyed the overarching theme with each book that family is what you make it and that people aren't always what they seem on the exterior. This series and these characters have always felt like coming home to me, and I love to see the growth each character experiences within each book Elliott writes.

Perfect read for the holiday season coming up! We normally don't see a Thanksgiving cozy too often, but this was as sweet as pumpkin pie!

Thank you #Netgalley for the advance reader copy of To the Time of Murder by Lauren Elliott in exchange for an honest review. Addie Greybourne owns Beyond the Page, a bookstore. She was opening the store when her cousin, Kalea, calls. Kalea's boyfriend has died in her dress shop. Addie comes over and calls 911. When the police get there, they take Kalea to the station. Addie works on the mystery of how Jared was killed. This is another great story by Lauren Elliott. She puts together a wonderful story. I hated to put down my Kindle to do anything else.

Through NetGalley, I received a free copy of TO THE TOME OF MURDER (Book 7 of the Beyond the Page Bookstore mysteries) by Lauren Elliott in exchange for an honest review. The current activity in town revolves around a merchant cooking competition where those involved in local business can enter a competition of Civil War era Thanksgiving dishes. In support of this Thanksgiving cooking competition, Addie Greyborne has created a window supply of Civil War books, and she even ordered a supply of cookbooks and other magazines containing recipes that can be used in the competition. However, another event soon overshadows the competition. Addie’s cousin becomes a murder suspect. Addie knows her cousin to be incapable of murder and to have had no motive to slay the victim. Still, it seems like law enforcement prefers to fit her cousin to the facts rather than allow follow the facts to the offender. Addie, now having some experience with identifying killers, will have to prove her cousin’s lack of guilt by finding the actual murderer.

I liked the book and enjoy the series. I recommend the book to fans of the series and to fans of cozy mysteries featuring murder, bookstores, town events, seaside towns, nosy neighbors, and antiques.

A Seemingly Well Read Killer…?
The seventh outing in the Beyond the Page Bookstore mystery series and Addie is making a concerted effort with the bookstore and displays. When someone she knows well is murdered she has her work cut out when she realises that she may well be the only person who can join the dots to uncover a seemingly well read killer. Enjoyable and entertaining with a likeable protagonist, a colourful cast of supporting characters and another solid entry in this long running series.

The series continues to fully engage and has realistic characters but each book has enough clues and references to make it a successful stand alone. Tourist season is about over and Thanksgiving is near when Addie's cousin Callea finds her fiancee's murdered body on the floor of her shop. Callea is a mess and even gets arrested, but Addie doesn't believe it and goes into sleuth mode. More is discovered about the motive and opportunity and a good whodunit is what I've read here.
I requested and received a free temporary e-book copy from Kensington Books via NetGalley. Thank you.
