I enjoyed earlier titles in this series but lost interest in this title early on and am giving up on it. The main character ruminating about her current relationship and those of her ex-boyfriends does not make compelling reading . In successful cozy mysteries the protagonist ‘s connection to the victim develops in some sort of natural way but here it is just base interference. Do not recommend.

What a great cozy mystery? While this is not the first in the series, it can be read as a stand alone.
Krissy is co owner of a book store/ cafe, and they are donating apples and apple cider for the Thanksgiving Festival. When a man dies while bobbing for apples, fingers point in all different directions. Can Krissy find the killer and keep herself out of trouble?
Loved this story. Characters are great and plot was captivating.
I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Set in Pine Hills, the first annual Thanksgiving celebration is in full swing. Krissy Hancock, co-owner of Death by Coffee ☕️ is also participating. She co-owns the bookstore cafe with her best friend Vicki Lawyer. Her ex Will Foster left Pine Hills for a job but Krissy’s since been over him since she’s been seeing police officer Paul Dalton👮🏼‍♂️

Meanwhile, a man named Sydney Tewksbury has been prejudiced against books at Cindy and her husband Jimmy Carlton’s library as well as Krissy’s bookstore café. He wants them to stop carrying certain types of books because he thinks they’re offensive and the books are responsible for the bad things happening in town.

Sydney comes to the library often and demands that the librarians change their book selection claiming the books were corrupting the youth of the town.

One of the activities at the show involves grabbing an apple with one’s teeth from a tub of cider. Customers donate to participate and the books are given out as prizes to encourage reading. A portion of the proceeds from the contest goes to the library for a reading program Jimmy hopes to set up. The rest is reserved for the food fund.

Right after Krissy and Paul overhear Sydney raising his voice and causing a scene at the festival, the man’s body is found in the cider tank. A doctor at the scene takes a look at the victim and declares him dead by poisoning.

Panicked, Krissy heads to find her friend Rita who also participated in the apple-bobbing contest. Rita Jablonski is one the biggest gossips in all of Pine Hills. Krissy wonders if Rita has also been poisoned by her apples or her apple cider?

Fortunately, Rita seems fine as well other participants who drank Krissy’s apple cider 🍺

So who killed Sydney and why?

Thank you to Alex Erickson, NetGalley, and Kensington for the ARC of this book.

The library has teemed up with a bookstore-cafe to serve hot apple cider and other apple treats at the town's annual fall festival. There are a few seeds in the cider - someone is defacing the library and library books because of the scandalous books in it and someone drops dead at the festival. I ehsitate to say which one bothered me more. Quite a fun read and it will get you in the mood for fall.

I enjoyed this book. It's fast paced with interesting characters. The reveal of the bad guys isn't a surprise but still the reveal is good. #DeathbyHotAppleCider #NetGalley

Thank you #Netgalley for the advance reader copy of Death by Hot Apple Cider by Alex Erickson in exchange for an honest review. Death by Coffee is run by Krissy Hancock. The people of Pine Hills are having a Thanksgiving festival. While bobbing for apples, a man dies. The skies open up and rain pours down, soaking Krissy. This story had a lot of twists and turns. I wasn't sure where the story was headed. It held my interest and I am curious where the next one will lead Krissy and her friends.

Krissy's bookstore/café is hosting an apple bobbing booth at the town's Fall Festival. Unfortunately, one patron doesn't surface from bobbing for apples and is pronounced dead from poisoning. Her investigation of the murder victim reveals that he has been harassing businesses and people he believes are promoting scandalous behavior. Interesting list of murder suspects - an enjoyable read.

Thanks to NetGalley for an ARC.

I enjoyed everything about this book….except for the protagonist. She was obnoxiously nosey and was constantly jumping to conclusions with her overactive imagination. Which is a complete shame because the mystery and all the other characters were quite good. And the descriptions of autumn had me wishing it was time for sweaters and pie too.

A very nice autumn addition to the cozy genre. There are a lot of interesting characters and plenty of intrigue as well as a budding romance. Now I want to go back and read some of her other books. Krissy Hancock with her cat and her coffee shop makes me wish her town was real and that I could become a member of her circle of friends. A perfect read for an autumn weekend.

Thank you to NetGalley for an advance copy of this book.

Krissy Hancock’s bookstore-café in Pine Hills, Ohio, is teaming up with the local library for a seasonal celebration, but someone is spiking the refreshments—with fatal results...
I really enjoy Krissy as the main character. The mystery was full of twists and turns. This one is a winner for sure. Humor, murder and an amazing cast of characters!

Bobbing for apples shouldn't be deadly! But it was. Once again Krissy who runs a local coffeeshop bookstore is off solving a mystery. Humorous fun characters make this a most enjoyable read. A cozy series that is fun. Not going to want to put this one down. Thanks #netgalley and #Keningston for the eARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are mine.

Super fun cozy mystery - I will have to go read the backlist!

Sidney is found slumped over the apple bobbing session at the local fall festival and all signs point to poison. But Krissy provided the apples and apple cider? It appears she's in the clear but her curiosity is peaked - who killed Sidney and why?

Fun cozy and a nice side of what "found family" can be all about.

A Sticky End…?
The ninth outing in the Bookstore Cafe mystery series finds Krissy joining up with the local library for seasonal celebrations and with cider flowing and apple bobbing underway all seems well with the world. Things are about to become very sticky indeed for one particular apple bobber when the bobbing doesn’t go exactly to plan. Krissy is soon on the trail of a killer and with a plethora of suspects where does she begin? Enjoyable cosy mystery with a likeable protagonist and a colourful cast of supporting characters. A fun, engaging read.

Death by Hot Apple Cider, another great book in the series. The mysteries are always interesting, and this was no exception. The author does a great job wrapping up some of the previous love's of the the main character, Krissy. Which will help move her forward with her new relationship, let's hope. There is a nice balance between the main cozy mystery story and the romance story. Also, the different friendships of the main character are interesting in of themselves. Just enough to add a nice feel and without a bunch of drama. All this adds together for a nice cozy mystery book (and series). Krissy does do a lot of stupid things regarding hunting for the killers, but I guess that's needed to move the story along. Very few cozy mysteries are able to keep the main character from acting foolish in that regard. All in all, one of my favorite cozy mystery series. Looking forward to the next.

Krissy Hancock and the team at her book store are geared up for the latest town festivities and are providing the hot apple cider. It’s such a time for the team, but when one of the folks bobbing for apples doesn’t come back up, Krissy can’t help but nosing around to find out what happened. Will she figure it out or will she find herself under water with the killer?

it’s a fun series and I enjoy the characters and mysteries the author weaves. Lots of red herrings and guessing until the final reveal. A highly recommend series!

Death by Hot Apple Cider stays true to the cozy mystery genre. Alex Erickson has a knack for keeping the fans engaged. This one hold my attention and I had no desire to put it down. Perfect for a vacation, holiday weekend or a cozy night in.

Krissy runs a coffee shop/bookstore and is close with the town police detective. At a fundraiser the most obnoxious man in town is bobbing for apples (in the cider and apples Krissy provided) when he gets himself dead via poison. Let the sleuthing begin. Easily read as a stand alone, there are enough red herrings and quirky characters to make it an interesting read.
I requested and received a free temporary ebook copy from Kensington Books via NetGalley. Thank you.
