Bernadette, Tess, and Arizona are back with more drama than before. When Bernadette moved to a small town a year ago, she never thought that she would be pregnant and in a relationship. But Bernadette soon finds out that life is not that easy. Tess is happily engaged to a successful restaurateur. But when she finds out she has difficulty conceiving, will her world fall apart? Arizona has married the love of her life. She is trying to help her husband to work out his intimacy issues in the bedroom. But Arizona’s husband has dark issues that she may not be able to solve.

Blindsided is a good follow-up to The Other Side by Trice Hickman. Both books are recommended. Hickman gives us an excellent update on these memorable characters. Just like in the first book, the characters in this story are memorable and relatable. Readers will find that there are some unexpected revelations in this book that makes this a true page-turner. Blindsided is a good book club pick and another winner for Trice Hickman.

I wish I had known that Blindsided by Trice Hickman was part of a series before I started reading it. Not sure how I missed that one.

While it was good, my not having read the first book, had me feeling like I was missing something while I was reading. It didn't prevent me from reading or even enjoying the story being told but gave me that little nagging feeling in the back of my mind that I wasn't getting the full picture. I normally would have put it down, but there was something about Bernie, Tess, and Arizona and their stories that made me continue.

They felt real to me. Their stories, triumphs, their hardships, and challenges were just so very real and that made me keep turning the page. These women could have been me and my friends at different stages and ages of our lives. it just felt so raw and real that I related to the story, despite not having read the first book.

Blindsided by Trice Hickman is book two in her Complicated Love series, follow-up to The Other Side.

Cousins Bernadette and Tess and their friend, Arizona, share a birthday, each a decade older than the next, respectively. The ladies share a great friendship and commonality in that they’re involved in a complicated personal relationship.

Trice Hickman continues her Complicated Love series with this second successful installment. Though part of a series, it reads well as a standalone. The story is revealed through the alternating viewpoints of each of the ladies. This sometimes tricky technique is handled smoothly with appropriate chapter headers. We learn more about each lead character, more to love or hate. There are more unexpected plot twists. I rate Blindsided 5 out of 5 stars and recommend it to anyone who enjoys good dramatic and multicultural interest fiction.

My thanks to Kensington Books, Dafina, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book. However, the opinions expressed in this review are 100% mine and mine alone.

Blindsided is the second book in the series, we catch up with the three friends that are all going through tough times in their relationships. Bernadette, Tess and Arizona are all best friends and have a great deal in common and they are also totally different. Each lady is dealing with their own hard truths about their lives and their relationships. Each lady needs to make a decision about their future and how it will affect them and others.

I enjoyed the second book and I am looking forward to the next book, these three ladies are a trip and are great fit for each other. This was a good storyline and flowed-very well. The things these ladies are going through are very relatable and could happen to any of us in any given time.

Book 2 was just as good as the first one. I enjoyed the growth of the characters that did actually grow. Book 1 called the other side will need to be read before this one to get context on the three characters. Bernadette and Arizona are still my favorite characters. There were twists and turns and secrets that blew my mind. I really hope we get a book 3 in this series.

I would like to Thank Publisher and Net Galley for ARC copy.

Here you have three main Characters, Bernadette, Tess, Arizona who are very successful in their career. That shares a special bond and have same Birthday 10 years apart.. With Bernadette being oldest like a big sister in previous book she found a secret about her love Coop and this page turner I didn't know what would happen, when this secret came out. And her cousins Tess the mess on one side my heart goes out to her and on the other hand I don't specially how things turn out with Maceo. Knowing what he's been through, a well put together man. Arizona was hard to read because she knew what she was getting into with Chris. I must admit I didn't see things turning out the way it did with Chris he needs help. I just wonder if the Author continue this series about Arizona and Jaquan. And we need closer for Maceo hopeful a happy ending, I look forward to reading more from this Author very classy read love it.

This was a great read. I spotlighted it as book of the day on my social media platforms, and I included it in a monthly roundup of new releases and interviewed the author on my Black Fiction Addiction blog.

Things I loved: 3 POVs, older MCs
Things I didn't love: N/A
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The author did a great job of discussing complex topics such as infertility, the struggles of Black women, and friendship. It was nice to read about older women not having their lives all the way together and still exploring different parts of themselves. It was great to watch the personal growth of all three women, especially Arizona. I was proud of her for finally deciding on her marriage.

I was not a fan of Tess for most of the book. I found her character so mean and negative, especially with her comments toward Bernadette in the first half. However, she is an authentic depiction of some women, so I appreciate the author adding that perspective.

I would recommend this book to anyone looking for stories centered around black womanhood and friendship.
4.5/5

Thank you to the author, Kensington Books and NetGalley, for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This quick and satisfying read follows the lives of three close friends who each face career and relationship challenges. I particularly loved that the friends were each aged a decade apart and each had their issues and learned from one another - and that the oldest woman was in a hot relationship with a good man. The chapters are told in alternate POVs of the three women, and it's very easy to dive in and become invested in the lives of these women. Lots of drama - which the deep friendship and love between the women work through. I honestly did not expect to enjoy this as much as I did, which I realize is a backhanded compliment - but I would recommend this for anyone who enjoys character-driven stories with depth.

There isn’t a time that I have picked up a Hickman title and been disappointed. Her characters are multileveled and enjoyable even the not so nice ones. Blindsided is about friendships, relationships and situationships.

Three friends at different seasons of life, contemplating decisions that could turn their current
situations upside down, pregnancy, fertility issues and of course those dreaded secrets. How each handles it makes for a great story that sometimes brings laughter while other times will leave you mouth open.

I absolutely enjoyed this book, if you are looking for a grown folk read this is it.

In exchange for my thoughtful and honest review I receive a Advanced Readers copy from Netgalley.

Tess, Bernadette and Arizona are friends who are each at a different stage in their lives but they share concerns common to us all. Fertility, mental health, a surprise pregnancy, and secrets are all on the table in this relatable story that never goes over the top. Thanks to netgalley for the ARC. A good read.

Story about three women, Bernadette, Tess, and Arizona, that are all blindsided by events that will change the course of their lives. In the beginning the story was a little choppy and I wasn't sure where it was going but it definitely picked up and I found myself invested in the outcome of their individual stories. The book has a vibe of girlfriends with a more serious drama. I definitely appreciate the growth of each of these ladies throughout the book.

Trigger warning of mental illness.

Thanks for Netgalley and Kensington Books for the e-galley in exchange for my review.

Blindsided is about three women who will face the biggest challenge of their lives:

Bernie Gibson is in the best relationship of her life. She is fifty and thrilled to marry the man of her dreams but then she discovers she is pregnant and she isn't sure how Coop will handle this new complication.

Tess Sinclair is engaged to a wonderful successful man who wants to marry her and have children. Tess hasn't told him she has serious fertility issues.

Arizona is married to a man who appears to be the perfect Adonis but the newlyweds have serious intimacy issues. Their happy-ever-after is threatened by past secrets.

From the opening scene for each of these three friends, I knew this was going to be a page-turner. I read it over a couple days and I was intrigued to find out what was going to happen. I really loved that Trice Hickman introduced us to characters in different stages of maturity and also different ages. It was wonderful reading about a woman in her fifties enjoying a hot relationship with a good man.

Of course, the drama was plenty and there were a few times were my eyebrows raised at their actions but that made for a really good read.

I absolutely loved the cover. Loved it. Loved the title. It matched the book perfectly. I truly enjoyed this read. Thank you #Netgalley and #Kensington.

In this fast page turner we get to meet 3 women Bernadette, Tess and Arizona, who are all at different stages of various relationships they are going through in their lives. BLINDSIDED is centered around three friends Bernadette Gibson, Tess Sinclair and Arizona Mays who bonded during a birthday celebration and became fast friends. A few months into their friendship, a lot of things has changed. Bernadette discovers she is pregnant and hesitant to tell her lover Coop especially since she came upon information that has her questioning their future. Arizona is unhappy in her after being married only two months and Tess still has not set a wedding date although she has been engaged for two years.

I read BLINDSIDED without realizing it was a follow up to Hickman's THE OTHER SIDE (I have to pick this one up!). The characters are relatable with each character's age being 10 decades apart. There was bit of suspense, romance and a whole lot of drama. Trice Hickman is one of those authors that truly delivers and with BLINDSIDED, she did not disappoint.

Blindsided by Hickman was a good, quick enjoyable book!
The writing was good, and the story I was really into. Trice really held my attention here.
But my only thing is I just wished there was more. I felt it lagged in some areas which could have been done better with the writing.
Overall I still enjoyed this book! The characters were fun. The story was there.

I can't Thank NG, Publisher and Author for the chance to read this book! Thank you.

Ok read. Kind of choppy in some areas. Story about 3 cousins and issues they are dealing with in their lives. The book touches on mental illness, but not a lot. Seems like there could be a follow up, not sure if I would read it. Thanks to Netgalley, the author and the publisher for the arc of this book in return for my honest review. Receiving the book in this manner had no bearing on this review.
