I have added this book to my need to buy list for my classroom. I enjoy reading the questions and I think middle grade students would as well.

If you don't know a lot about oceanic animals, you will learn a lot from this informative and interesting book. However, if you are an avid Shark Week watcher, you will probably know a lot of the facts in the shark section already. This book is told from an evolutionist standpoint versus a creationist standpoint.

I really found the facts about eels so interesting! Specifically if bitten by a moray eel the only way to get free is to cut off its head and break its jaw. One of my favorite facts is that sharks and rays are the only animals on the planet immune to cancer, possibly because their skeletons are made from cartilage instead of bone. If some photos of the animals were included (instead of cartoon drawings) it would have really elevated the book in my opinion.

A great book for kids to provide explanations and random facts about all things related to deep sea creatures, sharks & dolphins, octopus & squid, and reefs & sea beds.
I love the way the chapters are broken out and how easily digestible each tidbit of information is, usually just a couple of sentences, perfect for grade schoolers.
I can see kids excitedly learning about the ocean world and eagerly sharing with others. I would heartily recommend this for my own kids, their friends, and libraries.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher via NetGalley and all opinions expressed are solely my own, freely given.

A great book about all things related to the ocean. The book is separated in different categories (ex. Cetaceans,Sharks, etc)etc) and goes into fun facts about sea life. If your child or children are curious about oceanography this will be perfect for them! Also, I can see this book being great in the classroom and having a discussion about the sea-life and garnering interest about some of the facts.

I got a fee e-copy from NetGalley for an honest review.

I asked for this copy because I know my son would love this.
What 9 yr old doesn’t love anything Sahara related?
This had lots of cool facts about shark and my son was telling them to people about what he learned p.
When this comes out in physical copy I will definitely be buying my son a copy.

As an adult I really enjoyed this book and I always wanted to read this kind of book when I was younger too – if you gave me a nonfiction and a fiction I would always go for the first option!

I loved the punchy style of the different facts and trivia that you learn as the book progressed, I love the natural world and this was full of facts you don’t always get on a David Attenborough documentary!

I can see this being a massive hit with children too - it is 5 stars from me for this one, I loved it and can easily see it being a firm favourite!

Very highly recommended!

I was excited about this book and thought it might be a great addition for STEAM classes. However, the book just isn't engaging for kids. My young co-reviewers asked that we stop reading it. Each page has anywhere from 1-4 facts on it, with no additional content or context. This would probably be most suited for kids who want to sit and memorize random facts.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Arcturus Publishing for my copy of Why Don't Sharks Have Bones? Questions and Answers About Sea Creatures by William Potter, Clare Hibbert, and Marc Powell in exchange for an honest review. It publishes July 1, 2021.
This was a really neat book to read aloud! I think it would be really fun on a long car ride to share with the family. Or to survive a heat wave in my case! If you've got a curious kid or more on your hands, they will love this, and you'll also learn a lot!
