I can’t get enough of the books in this series. Every single one is beautifully illustrated and gives a short little snippet of the life of the person featured.

Like other books in this series, it is a fun little introduction to inspiring people. Definitely a great way to introduce kids to biographies and a nice read for adults too. I would recommend all the books in this series.

Mindy Kaling is a heartwarming story about a woman who became a comedian. I have to admit I did not know who Mindy was before reading this story. I now know she an inspirational woman! This is another great book in the Little People, Big Dreams series by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara. Thanks to NetGalley for my digital copy of this inspirational story.

Growing up Mindy's dream was to be a great artist who can put a smile on other people's faces.
In this book we're introduced to her as a child who grew up to be a successful actress.

What I liked about the book:
The illustrations were amazing.
The way the author portrayed Mindy was very inspiring.

The series always made me go to google afterwards, to learn more about these people aI sometime don't know.

Mindy Kaling is one of them. I am aware of her existence, but never watch her series or read her book, so this is a new discovery for me.

The series always teach us to be what we are and proud of it. And Mindy does shook the world with her persistence to pursue her dreams. A really good motivational book.

When I used to work in the libraries, I loved this series and enjoyed them coming through to our collections as it's like finally, they have found a fun and easy way to make biographies for children to read that isn't too lengthy and boring as kids love something that is readable and they can relate too. One of my favorite ones I used was Anne Frank. So when I saw that Mindy Kaling had one, I wanted to read it as I have enjoyed her as a comedian and writer as she is quite a hard case. In this book, we read as it introduces Mindy as a child growing up in an Indian-American household and her dream to become not only a writer but a comedian/actress. We read as she got a job writing for The Office and the producers and everyone loving her script that she finally was offered her character on the show which for a female especially being Indian-American was a great achievement. The other thing is that this is written in a picture book format, so it is age-appropriate for children aged 6-10 years old. I look forward to reading more of this series when released.

One of the things I really enjoy about this series is the diversity of people that it highlights. In this book, we meet young Vera Mindy Chokalingam, who is called Mindy by her family. Her architect father and doctor mother, encouraged her to follow her dreams, and she did. From a young age, she loved the cinema more than anything. She also loved to make people laugh. She went to college to learn all about the theatre and got involved in the paper, doing a comic strip and an acapella group, all while getting great grades and graduating. She did stand up comedy and worked as a production assistant before being tapped to work on The Office. She quickly worked her way to being a respected comedy writer and actress. I knew who Mindy Kaling was, but had not seen her in The Office, so I found some episodes and watched her. She is indeed talented. I love this series and agree that it is a fantastic way of teaching children about inspirational people (both deceased and alive) and encouraging them to reach their potential, break down barriers, and chase their dreams. Each book in this series is illustrated by a different artist, but they are all a bit quirky and fun. I continue to recommend this series to libraries (classroom, school, public, family).

'Mindy Kaling' by Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegara with illustrations by Yallaroza is a biography for young readers about a brilliant comedy writer's life.

Mindy Kaling was born Vera Mindy Chokalingam. Her parents named her Mindy after a character on a sitcom. As a young girl, Mindy memorized quotes from movies, but she didn't see anyone that looked like her in them. She dreamed of becoming a comedy writer and that's what she did.

I've enjoyed Mindy Kaling's work and it was great to read this inspiring book about her. The illustrations are very fun too.

I received a review copy of this ebook from Quarto Publishing Group - Frances Lincoln Children's Books, and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this ebook.

This is a nicely illustrated read that both of my children loved and that I will also likely keep a copy of in my classroom even though my students are older. The messages and the illustrations convey a beautiful read to all ages. Love it.

This picture book biography is a simple, appealing introduction to Mindy Kaling's family background, early work, success in television writing, and ongoing prominence as a remarkable South Asian woman in the entertainment industry. The illustrations in this book didn't appeal to me quite as much as some of the others in the series, especially since the proportions were off on some pages, but it's a nicely done book that will appeal to Mindy Kaling fans and to people who are interested in learning about her.

It's the educational, picture book series that never ends! Welcome back to another non-fiction biography about famous people, this time starring Mindy Kaling.

I really like this series. It's simple, fun and educational. It makes reading fun and each book is just a little different due to the illustrators being swapped out.

If you want to learn about this funny gal (who I originally met from The Office and now want to read her own books), then this book is for you. Her tale is interesting and definitely fun for people who've watched The Mindy Project (and all of her other work).

Three out of five stars.

The ‘My First Little People, Big Dreams’ series provides informative and inspirational biographies about people who left a mark on this earth, no matter what difficulties they have encountered.
These stories are very short, but that’s because they’re books for children, so it’s totally understandable.
I think they are a very smart and wonderful way to introduce little children to such important figures.
This little book tells the story of Mindy Kaling, widely known for her amazing work on The Office. She's truly an inspirational figure and I'm glad children can read and learn about her.

This book is a really sweet representation of Mindy’s career distilled down into a few pages with great illustrations.

I have a young niece and nephew, so I love reading inspiring stories that I might want to buy for them. This one definitely is something I’ll share with them once it’s published.

My one complaint is that the book is very very short. I wish there were a few more pages so that they could showcase not only that she decided to go to college but she worked really hard and got into Dartmouth. She also worked really hard to get a seat at writers tables and be taken seriously as a female writer, and the book because of the brevity makes it seem like her opportunity with the office was just given to her. So I would have liked to see a little more about how much she did to make sure people knew she was excellent.

As a half south Asian woman, I love this. It’s so important for children to see people who look like them in the media/on tv. I hope this book can help kids. I would have loved to have a book like this when I was younger!

Mindy Kaling is awesome! I've read her essay collections and she is so funny on both the page and the screen. Now, you can share the joy of Mindy with the littles in your life. In this picture book, Isabel Sanchez Vegara gives us a kid-friendly look at the life of Mindy. Mindy was raised in an Indian-American family and early on developed a passion for writing and comedy. She went on to be the first Indian-American woman to star in her own show. She is breaking barriers and being a great inspiration for others.

The book is loaded with colorful illustrations and approachable text for kids. The book also has a bunch of extra stuff at the end like photos and a timeline.

Mindy Chokalingam started life loving movies, writing scripts, and being funny. She had big dreams, but whenever she watched a movie there was never a person who looked like herself. She decided she would be a comedian.

She is discovered and writes for and acts for the hugely popular show, ‘The Office’. By this time, she has changed her name to Mindy Kaling. After several years she decides to start writing and directing her own show. This is a major accomplishment and she is the first Indian/American woman to do this.

Mindy just decided to be herself and her enormous talent carried her far. Her dreams did happen. She is an incredible woman and has achieved so much in a short time.

This series is so important because there are so many children unsure if they can achieve their goals. It helps so much to see people like themselves doing well. Children need to see all different types of people in this world and know they are not limited.

I loved this book, as I do all in this series.

Thank you NetGalley, Maria Isabel Sanchez Vegera, and Frances Lincoln Books for granting me an ARC of this book. I really appreciate it.
